Winthrop High School is a public high school in Winthrop, Maine.

The Charles M. Bailey Public Library is the public library serving Winthrop, Maine. It is located at 39 Bowdoin Street, near the town center. It was officially established by the town on November 4, 1916, and opened to the public on December 2, 1916. The library became a free library in 1970, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The original granite structure was designed by prominent Maine architect John Calvin Stevens, and his son John Howard Stevens. The 2015 addition was designed by Maine architect Philip M Locashio.

Winthrop is a town in Kennebec County, Maine, United States. Winthrop is included in the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine metropolitan New England city and town area. The population was 6,121 at the 2020 census. Winthrop's population, however, approximately doubles during the summer months as part-year residents return to seasonal camps located on the shores of Winthrop's Lakes and Ponds. A recreational area located among lakes, the town includes the villages of Winthrop and East Winthrop, and is the center of the Winthrop Lakes Region. Winthrop is included in the Augusta, Maine Micropolitan New England City and Town Area.

The Winthrop Mills Company is a historic textile mill complex at 149-151 Main Street in Winthrop, Maine. Developed mainly between the late 19th and mid-20th centuries, it was the nation's largest manufacturer of woolen blankets for many years, and a major local employer for about 150 years. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Winthrop is a census-designated place (CDP) comprising the primary settlement in the town of Winthrop in Kennebec County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,650 at the 2010 census, out of 6,092 in the town of Winthrop as a whole.

Camp Androscoggin is an all-boys summer camp in Wayne, Maine, and one of the oldest in the state. It is ACA (American Camp Association) accredited. It was founded in 1907 by Edward M. Healy, a Department Head at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Healy became President of the American Camping Association (ACA) in 1916 shortly before his death. The camp has an average intake of between 250 and 280 boys aged 8 to 15 years, and takes enrollments nationally and internationally.

The Androscoggin Yacht Club is a private recreational and social club at 22 Lake Street in Wayne, Maine, on the shore of Androscoggin Lake. Founded in 1909, the club provides access to a beach and docks, and has a clubhouse available for the use of its members. The clubhouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012, for its architecture and for the role the club played in the development of the region as a summer tourist destination.

Androscoggin Lake is a body of water located in the towns of Wayne and Leeds, Maine. The surface area of the lake is 3,826 acres (1,548 ha). Its greatest length is 4.5 mi (7.2 km) and its greatest width is 2.8 mi (4.5 km). The lake is very shallow with a mean depth of 15 ft (4.6 m) and maximum depth of 38 ft (12 m). The lake temperature is therefore quite warm during summer, and the temperature is the same on the bottom as it is on the top, making it a homothermous body of water. There are 4 islands on the lake: Androscoggin Island, Blodgett Island, Lothrop Island and Norris Island. Norris Island has a cabin that can be reserved for free on tklt.org. The islands support a diverse assemblage of rare species and natural communities. The most extensive areas are along and around the Dead River, which connects the lake to the Androscoggin River. The islands also provide important nesting habitat for bald eagles, ospreys and great blue herons. Lothrop Island's black sand beaches are of geological interest and are also home to several rare plants.

Narrows Pond is actually two small twin lakes in Winthrop, Maine. They are Upper and Lower Narrows Pond, and are divided by a very narrow isthmus, hence the name. The isthmus is traversed by Narrows Pond Road, and a culvert connects the two lakes. People in canoes or kayaks can travel between the two lakes, though only by ducking first. Upper Narrows Pond covers 222 acres (90 ha) with a mean depth of 25 feet (7.6 m) and a maximum depth of 59 feet (18 m). The volume of Upper Narrows is 4,953 acre-feet (6,109,000 m3). Both lakes' shores are lined with cottages, most of them summer residences. Seaplanes are allowed to land and take off from the Upper Pond. A Methodist summer camp is located on the Lower Pond.

The Wayne Town House is a historic town hall on Maine State Route 133 in Wayne, Maine. Built in 1840, it is one of the state's little-altered examples of a period town hall building, retaining a number of distinctive features, including benches for sex-segregated seating. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Maranacook Lake is a lake in Kennebec County, Maine located in the towns of Readfield and Winthrop. The lake covers 1,673 acres (677 ha) with a maximum depth of 118 feet (36 m) and a mean depth of 30 feet (9.1 m). It is one of the major bodies of water in the Winthrop Lakes Region.

Wing Family Cemetery is a historic cemetery in Wayne, Maine. Established as a family cemetery in 1867, it is one of the state's most distinctive small cemeteries, organized with concentric circles around a central monument. The cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
