WCOM-LP is a community low-power FM radio station, broadcasting from Carrboro, North Carolina. It broadcasts from a radio tower over Mary Scroggs Elementary School soccer field in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Its studios are located in Carrboro at 300-G E. Main Street, near the Cat's Cradle. It is the first low-power FM station in the area, and began broadcasting in June 2004. In November 2004, the station began broadcasting a full lineup of local radio programming, including some Spanish language programming. It airs a variety format.WCOM-LP is the first low-power FM community radio station in the area to be set up under a program established by the Federal Communications Commission in 2000. The station was assigned the WCOM-LP call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on February 5, 2003.As a low-powered station, WCOM-LP only produces a 100-watt signal; as such, it cannot be heard far from the tower. Its limits are just before the Chapel Hill Public Library and just past Weaver Street Market in Carrboro. During the afternoons, Fayetteville station WRCQ often bleeds over into WCOM-LP's radio space, due to WRCQ's high-power transmitter being fairly close by (about 60 miles). The station is an affiliate of the syndicated Pink Floyd program "Floydian Slip".

Carrboro High School is located in Carrboro, North Carolina, United States. It is located close to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Carrboro High school is part of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools district which contains two other high schools, Chapel Hill High School and East Chapel Hill High School. Its first year of operation was the 2007-2008 school year. It is the smallest CHCCS high school with total enrollment being 895. The student body makeup is 51 percent male and 49 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 42 percent. Helena Thomas is the principal. She was hired for the position in 2023.

Orange County Training School (OCTS) (1916–1948), later known as Lincoln High School (1948–1966), was a public elementary and high school that served African-American students in Chapel Hill, Orange County, North Carolina. It became a Rosenwald School starting in 1924, one of the 800 or more in the state.

The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center is a cancer research and treatment center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. One of 52 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States, its clinical base is the N.C. Cancer Hospital, part of the UNC Health Care system. UNC Lineberger is the only public NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the state of North Carolina. The current director is H. Shelton Earp III who succeeded current NCI director Norman Sharpless.

The West Chapel Hill Historic District is a national historic district in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The district comprises several small neighborhoods and is roughly bounded by West Cameron Avenue, Malette Street, Ransom Street, Pittsboro Street, University Drive and the Westwood Subdivision. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998, and was enlarged in 2019. The district encompasses an upper-middle class residential neighborhood that developed during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The growth of the district is related to the development of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the town of Chapel Hill.

Thomas F. Lloyd Historic District is a national historic district located at Carrboro, Orange County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 25 contributing buildings developed as housing for textile mill workers associated with the 1910 Thomas F. Lloyd Manufacturing Company. The district's buildings date between 1910 and 1915 and are primarily one- and two-story frame mill worker dwellings. A notable dwelling is located at 214 Maple Avenue, which was reportedly built by Thomas Lloyd as a "guest house" for the mill.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The UNC Claude A. Adams Jr. and Grace Phillips Adams School of Dentistry is the school of dentistry of the University of North Carolina. It is located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States. It is currently ranked second among all dental schools in the U.S. and is consistently ranked among the best in the world according to two independent rankings. Founded in 1950 as the UNC School of Dentistry, it was the only dental school in North Carolina until 2011, when East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine became the second. In 2019, the school received its largest single donation of $27.68 million, resulting in a name change to honor Dr. Claude A. Adams Jr. and Grace Phillips Adams. Dr. Adams was a North Carolina dentist that practiced in Durham until his death in 2018.

The Hackney School was a private secondary school in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It served as secondary education for black students until merging with the Quaker Freedman School to form the Orange County Training School.

The UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health is the public health school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a public research university in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. In 2022, the institution was ranked the best public school and tied for second best school overall in the U.S. News & World Report ranking of American schools of public health. Among schools of public health, the school receives the third most funding in NIH awards.
