The Federal Correctional Institution, Morgantown (FCI Morgantown) is a minimum-security United States federal prison for male inmates in West Virginia. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice. The facility has been nicknamed 'Club Fed' because of its amenities which include a large college-like campus, a movie theater, a bocce ball court and a basketball court as well as housing many white collar, nonviolent offenders.FCI Morgantown is located in the city of Morgantown in northern West Virginia and approximately 160 miles northeast of Charleston, the state capital.

The Morgantown Municipal Ice Arena or Morgantown Ice Arena is a 400-seat multi purpose arena located in White Park in Morgantown, West Virginia. The ice arena has a 185' X 85' sized ice sheet. It is also the home to the West Virginia Mountaineers men's ice hockey team competing at the ACHA Division I level in the College Hockey Mid-America. as well as an auxiliary team competing at the Division II level of the NCHA. The arena is also home to several local high school ice hockey teams, and is used by local figure skating clubs, youth, and adult recreational ice hockey leagues, as well as public skating.

Morgantown Lock and Dam is a navigational lock and a gated dam on the Monongahela River at Morgantown, West Virginia. It is part of a series of dams that canalizes the Monongahela to a depth of at least 9 feet (2.7 m) for its entire length from Fairmont, West Virginia to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Pittsburgh District. Morgantown has a single lock chamber located on the left-descending river bank. The dam's upper pool extends 6.0 miles (9.7 km) upstream to Hildebrand Lock and Dam, with its 11.2-mile (18.0 km) downstream pool being formed by Point Marion Lock and Dam.

Ford House is a historic home located at Morgantown, Monongalia County, West Virginia. It was built about 1868, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, "L" shaped Gothic Revival style cottage. It features a steeply pitched gable roof, a Gothic arched window in the center gable, and lattice work in lieu of bargeboard on the front porch.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

The district originally included 109 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site, Oak Grove Cemetery. A boundary increase in 2001, added the already listed Alexander Wade House to the district. The district encompasses a residential area developed in the early-20th century on property that was once the farm of U.S. Senator Waitman T. Willey. It includes examples of popular architectural styles from that period including Queen Anne, American Foursquare, Colonial Revival, and Bungalow.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, with a boundary increase in 2001.

Second Ward Negro Elementary School, also known as the Second Ward Annex, is a historic school building located at Morgantown, Monongalia County, West Virginia. It was built in 1938–1939, and is a one-story, plus basement, T-shaped brick building in the Art Deco style. It sits on a sandstone foundation. Funds for the building's construction were provided by the Works Progress Administration. It functioned as a school for African American students and a community center until the end of segregation in 1954. The building reopened as a school annex and Instructional Materials Center in the 1960s, but ceased being used as a school in 1993.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. It is located in the Greenmont Historic District, listed in 2005.

The district includes 501 contributing buildings and 5 contributing structures in a primarily residential area south of downtown Morgantown. The district is characterized by tightly packed dwellings on a hillside and represent a variety of post-Victorian architectural styles popular between 1900 and 1940. Notable buildings include the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Morgantown High School, Crestholm Pharmacy, and Bobbette's Confectionary.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Athletic teams compete as the Morgantown Mohigans in the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission as a member of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference. In addition to sections of Morgantown, it serves Star City.Former President George W. Bush visited Morgantown High School.

Judge Frank Cox House is a historic home located at Morgantown, Monongalia County, West Virginia. It was designed by Morgantown architect Elmer F. Jacobs and built in 1898. It is a 2+1⁄2-story Queen Anne style brick dwelling. It features a three-story tower, ornate wood porches, stained glass windows and elaborate interior woodwork. It was the home of Judge Frank Cox, a prominent lawyer who served as prosecuting attorney and Judge on the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Alexander Wade House is a historic house at 256 Prairie Street in Morgantown, West Virginia. Built in 1860, it was the home of educator Alexander Wade (1832-1904) from 1872 until his death. Wade is credited with developing a system of grade promotional exams and graduations that was widely adopted in the late 19th century. The house was declared a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1965.
