Red Hill, Victoria

Red Hill railway station was the terminus of the Red Hill railway line. The line was opened in 1921 and was one of the more short-lived branch lines on the Victorian Railways, closing in 1953, along with a few other smaller branch lines on the railways system. For a few years after the closure of the line, railmotors continued to run as far as Balnarring, to cater for the Balnarring picnic races and the Lord Somers Camp, as well as an Australian Railway Historical Society tour in 1956. Part of the railway alignment between the former Red Hill and Merricks stations has been converted into the Red Hill Rail Trail, but the majority of the right-of-way has been sold to adjacent private landholders.

Red Hill South is a rural locality and township on the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne, and is located in Victoria, Australia, approximately 64 km (40 mi) south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shire of Mornington Peninsula local government area. Red Hill South recorded a population of 708 at the 2021 census.There are several wineries in the area and it is referred to as the 'hinterland' of the Mornington Peninsula. Red Hill South Post Office opened on 22 January 1923.

Dromana 3 Drive-In (also known as Dromana Drive-In) is a heritage-listed and independently owned drive-in theatre in the Melbourne suburb of Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula. It is the oldest continuously operating drive-in in Australia.

Safety Beach is a seaside town in Metropolitan Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. Its local government area is the Shire of Mornington Peninsula. At the 2016 census, Safety Beach had a population of 4,821. Safety Beach occupies slightly less than half the area of land between the foothills of Mount Martha and Arthurs Seat and borders Port Philip Bay to its west. Martha Cove is a large inland harbour and residential development in Safety Beach. It was named after its location in the cove at the foot of Mount Martha. The project, which began in 2004, was initially heavily protested by residents. After experiencing considerable financial difficulties, Martha Cove recovered and became a thriving residential community. Golfers play at the course of the Mount Martha Valley Golf Club on Country Club Drive, or at the Safety Beach Golf Course nearby.Shark Bay was the former name of Safety Beach. The scent from cattle farms nestled in the area attracted many sharks to the site. Mornington Peninsula Shire later changed the name to Safety Beach. Many tourists feared swimming in ‘Shark Bay’ for obvious reasons even after the farms were shut down and shark sightings had decreased which now as we know it is named Safety Beach, an attempt to draw tourists to the area, and it worked. Now there are over 100 beach/bathing boxes located on the beach, accommodating thousands of tourists a year. It was a breeding area for grey Nurse sharks in the 1950s and 1960s on the right side of the area towards Mount Martha and although they posed no threat many people would not swim because of the sightings and its subsequent name "Shark Bay". As it also had shallow sand bars, the suggestion was made to change it to "Safety Beach" by the local life savers and council. It was changed around 1963.

The Mornington Peninsula is a peninsula located south of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is surrounded by Port Phillip to the west, Western Port to the east and Bass Strait to the south, and is connected to the mainland in the north. Geographically, the peninsula begins its protrusion from the mainland in the area between Pearcedale and an area north of Frankston. The area was originally home to the Mayone-bulluk and Boonwurrung-Balluk clans and formed part of the Boonwurrung nation's territory prior to European settlement. Much of the peninsula has been cleared for agriculture and settlements. However, small areas of the native ecology remain in the peninsula's south and west, some of which is protected by the Mornington Peninsula National Park. In 2002, around 180,000 people lived on the peninsula and in nearby areas, most in the built-up towns on its western shorelines which are sometimes regarded as outlying suburbs of greater Melbourne; there is a seasonal population of around 270,000. On 30 June 2017, the Mornington Peninsula population was recorded at 163,847 people. However, in the peak of summer the population increases to 225,000–250,000 people each year becoming the most populous coastal holiday area in Victoria with a larger population than Hobart.The peninsula is primarily a local tourist region, with popular natural attractions such as the variety of beaches both sheltered and open-sea and many scenic sights and views. Other popular attractions include the various wineries, mazes and the diverse array of water sports made available by the diversity of beaches and calm waters of Port Phillip and Western Port. Most visitors to the peninsula are residents of Melbourne who camp, rent villas and share houses or stay in private beach houses.

The Mornington Peninsula is an Australian wine region located south of Melbourne, Victoria. The region has a cool climate making wine growing ideal and focuses on Pinot noir production but has had success with other varietals including Chardonnay, Pinot gris and Tempranillo. The region is known for its medium bodied, dry wines and sparkling wines that show structure and complexity. The still wine versions of Chardonnay reflect a diversity of styles, all typically oaked, from more citrus to more tropical fruit flavors.

Red Hill Rail Trail is a 6.5 kilometre rail trail connecting Red Hill with Merricks, on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. It is primarily used by horse riders. It has gravel, dirt and grass surfaces.

The McCraith House is a modernist house located in Dromana, Victoria, Australia positioned atop a stone walled plinth over-looking Port Phillip Bay. Due to its unique geometric shape, this building is commonly referred to as the Butterfly House or Larrakeyah. In 1954, Gerald and Ellen McCraith commissioned emerging Melbourne-based architect partnership Chancellor and Patrick to design the beachside weekender, which was completed in 1956. Exemplary of structurally inspired modernist architecture in Australia, The McCraith house is national heritage listed and remains astonishingly close to its original state including "exterior and interior wall colours, furniture, crockery, even the bed linen".

Dromana Historical Museum is a museum located in Dromana, Victoria, Australia. The museum is run by volunteers of the Dromana and District Historical Society dedicated to preserving the history of Dromana and the surrounding areas of Red Hill, Rosebud, McCrae, Main Ridge, Boneo, and Red Hill South.
