Madley

Royal Air Force Madley, or more simply RAF Madley, was a Royal Air Force station situated 6.2 miles (10 km) south west of Hereford in Herefordshire, England. The station was in use during the Second World War as a training base and was located between the villages of Kingstone and Madley.

Kingstone High School is a mixed secondary school located in Kingstone in the English county of Herefordshire.Previously a community school administered by Herefordshire Council, Kingstone High School converted to academy status in August 2011. However the school continues to coordinate with Herefordshire Council for admissions, and mainly serves the areas of South Hereford and the Golden Valley. Kingstone High School offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils. The school building was built in the 1960s, with other buildings added later.

Bridge Sollers is a village and civil parish in Herefordshire, England, 10 km (6.2 mi) west of Hereford, on the River Wye. The village consists of 12 households and has a 12th century parish church, St. Andrew's, which is a Grade I listed building.Bridge Sollers takes its name from the surnames of a family connected with the parish: Simon de Brugge (b. 1272) married Mary Solers c.1297. The first bridge was built at Bridge Sollers in 1896. Previously, there had been a ferry system for crossing the river, and the nearest bridge was at Hereford. This bridge was replaced in 2004. Nelson Garage used to trade as a petrol station and garage, but has closed for business and is now a used car dealership.

Eaton Bishop is a small village and civil parish in Herefordshire, West Midlands, England. It is located south west of Hereford and is between the villages of Clehonger and Madley. The village has a church dedicated to St Michael & All Angels and a village hall. It is located near the River Wye.

The Weir Garden is a National Trust property near Swainshill (see Stretton Sugwas), Herefordshire, lying alongside the River Wye 5 mi (8.0 km) west of Hereford on the A438 road.The garden covers 10 acres (4 hectares), and was the creation of its prior owner, Roger Parr, and his head gardener, William Boulter. The adjoining house is used as a nursing home and is not open to the public.The south-facing aspect of the garden allows for a wide variety of plantings, and this, combined with the riverside, attracts a notable variety of wildlife. Notable birds include blackcaps, mute swans, kingfishers, goosanders and in summer, sand martins, whilst teal often over-winter here. There are also a great many insects, including the rare club-tailed dragonfly, banded demoiselle damselflies and white-legged damselflies, as well as a range of butterflies, hoverflies and crickets.The ruins of a Roman temple possibly associated with a high-status Roman villa, which may have connections to the nearby Roman town of Magnis, lie inside the Weir Garden by the River Wye. There is an octagonal cistern filled by a spring and a ruined buttress by the river. These are the highest standing Roman ruins in Herefordshire.As of August 2023, the property is open from 10:30 to 16:30, every day until 5 November and then from 10:30 to 16:00 on weekends, except Christmas Eve, for the rest of the year.

Bishopstone is a village and civil parish in Herefordshire, England, 10 km (6.2 mi) west of Hereford, near the River Wye and the Roman town of Magnis. According to the 2001 census, it had a population of 199, increasing to 208 at the 2011 census.

Kenchester is a parish in Herefordshire, England. It is about 5.5 miles (9 km) west-northwest of Hereford. Kenchester is near the Romano-British town of Magnis, and was once part of the Angles' Magonsæte kingdom. The Church of St Michael is a Grade I listed building.

Thruxton is a small rural village and civil parish in Herefordshire, England. It is located within the historic area of Archenfield, near the Welsh border and the city of Hereford. The village lies west of the A465 road and just south of the B4348 road between Kingstone and Much Dewchurch.The parish had a population of 33 in the 2001 UK Census and is grouped with Kingstone to form Kingstone & Thruxton Group Parish Council for administrative purposes.The parish church, dedicated to St. Bartholomew, is mainly in the Decorated style.

Clehonger is a village and civil parish in Herefordshire, England, and 7 km (4.3 mi) south-west of Hereford. Clehonger is from the old English 'Clayey wooded slope.' The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 1,382.

Magnae, sometimes Magnae Dobunnorum (Latin for "The Greats of the Dobunni") to distinguish it from the Magnae of the Carvetii on Hadrian's Wall in northern Britain, was a Romano-British town and an important market centre for the British Dobunni tribe, located near modern-day Kenchester in Herefordshire, England. The town was shaped as an irregular hexagon, with a single main street along the line of the main Roman Road running east–west through the area, and an irregular pattern of side streets with tightly packed buildings leading off it.
