Nõmme

Hiiu is a subdistrict (Estonian: asum) in the district of Nõmme, Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. It covers an area of 2.50 km2 (0.97 sq mi) and has a population of 3,986 (As of 1 January 2015), population density is 1,556/km2 (4,031/sq mi). Hiiu has a station on the Elron western route. The first narrow gauge railway station was built to Hiiu in 1913.

Hiiu railway station (Estonian: Hiiu raudteepeatus; previous name: Nõmme-Väike) is a station in Nõmme district of Tallinn, Estonia, approximately 9 kilometers (5,6 mi) southwest from the Baltic station (Estonian: Balti jaam) which is the main railway station of Tallinn, near the Baltic Sea. The Hiiu railway station is located between Nõmme and Kivimäe railway stations of Tallinn-Keila railway. The station was opened in 1926. There are two platforms along the two-lane railway, both 146 meters long. Elron's electric trains from Tallinn to Keila, Paldiski, Turba and Klooga-Rand stop at Hiiu station. The station belongs to the Zone I, within which traffic is free for Tallinners. Hiiu railway station serves the Hiiu sub-district which has approximately 3900 residents. There is a possibility to transfer to TLT (Tallinn City Transport) bus lines 10, 27 at a nearby bus station on Pärnu maantee. Bus station for bus line 33 is located on Raudtee tänav and Hiiu tänav. In 1929, a station building made of oil shale ash bricks and with a sloping roof was completed, where in 1932 the postal agency also moved. Ticket sales were terminated at the station building in the spring of 1998. In 1997, the building was declared an architectural monument. In 2020, there were approximately 58 train departures per day at Hiiu railway station towards Tallinn city center.

Nõmme railway station (Estonian: Nõmme raudteepeatus; first name in German Haltestelle auf der 7. Werst and in Russian Oстановочный пункт на 7. версте, after 1874 in German Nömme and Russian Неммe) is a railway station in Nõmme, Tallinn, Estonia, approximately 8 kilometers (5 mi) southwest from the Baltic station (Estonian: Balti jaam) which is the main railway station of Tallinn, near the Baltic Sea. The Nõmme railway station is located between Rahumäe and Hiiu railway stations of Tallinn-Keila railway. The station was opened in 1872. There are two platforms along the two-track railway, one 137 and other 142 meters long. Elron's electric trains from Tallinn to Keila, Paldiski, Turba and Klooga-Rand stop at Nõmme station. The station belongs to the Zone I, within which traffic is free for Tallinners. Nõmme railway station serves the Nõmme sub-district which has approximately 6600 residents. There is a possibility to transfer to TLT (Tallinn City Transport) bus lines 10, 27 and 33 at a bus station on Pärnu maantee and Turu plats and to bus line 36 at a bus station on Pärnu maantee. All bus stations are about a 5-minute walk from the Nõmme railway station. In 1905 the first wooden station building was completed. The stations awning was completed in 1912 and was fully demolished in 1987 during Soviet occupation. The awning was rebuilt historically accurately in 1999. In 2020, there were approximately 58 train departures per day at Nõmme railway station towards Tallinn city center.

It covers an area of 4.60 km2 (1.78 sq mi) and had a population on 1 January 2014 of 6,389, with a population density of 1,313.7/km2 (3,402/sq mi). Nõmme has a station on the Elron western route. The first train station in Nõmme was opened in 1872.

Hiiu-Rahu Cemetery is a cemetery in Tallinn, Estonia. The area of the cemetery is 2.2 ha, being one of the smallest cemetery in Tallinn.The cemetery is established in 1919, but inaugurated as late as 1923. The cemetery was designed by Karl Burman.

Mustamäe Ski Jumping Hill (Estonian: Mustamäe suusahüppemägi) is a ski jumping hill in Mustamäe, Tallinn, Estonia.The first facility was constructed in 1935, it was K12. Later, the facility was changed to K30. During WWII, the facility fell apart.In 1962, a new facility was built with K50. The facility was designed by Peet Samarüütel.The hill record (59 m, 13 March 2010) belongs to Kristjan Ilves.

Nõmme-Mustamäe Landscape Conservation Area is a nature park which is located in Harju County, Estonia.The area of the nature park is 201 ha.The protected area was founded in 2004 to protect landforms (including Nõmme Heaths, Mustamäe Slope) and biodiversity of Nõmme-Mustamäe.

Tallinn Music High School (Estonian: Tallinna Muusikakeskkool) is a special music high school in Tallinn, Estonia.

The TalTech Sports Hall (Estonian: TalTech Spordihoone) is a multi-purpose indoor arena complex in Mustamäe, Tallinn. It was opened in 1975 and renovated in 2001. It is the current home arena of the TalTech Basketball team.

Tallinn–Tartu GP (before 2007, the E.O.S. Tallinn GP) was a single-day road bicycle race held annually in June in Tallinn, Estonia. From 2005 until 2012 the race was organized as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour. In 2008, Pro Cycling Club gave up organizing the E.O.S. Tallinn GP and race name was changed to Tallinn–Tartu GP, organized by Club Tartu Maraton. The race was discontinued in 2012, with the same course becoming the first stage of the Tour of Estonia instead.

Established in 1918, Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech; Estonian: Tallinna Tehnikaülikool) is the only technical university in Estonia. TalTech, in the capital city of Tallinn, is a university for engineering, business, public administration and maritime affairs. TalTech has colleges in Tartu and Kohtla-Järve. Despite the similar names, Tallinn University and Tallinn University of Technology are separate institutions.

Hiiu Stadium (Estonian: Hiiu staadion) is a multi-purpose stadium in Tallinn, Estonia. The stadium and the administration building are owned by Nõmme district and are operated by Nõmme Sport Centre (Nõmme spordikeskus). It is used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Nõmme Kalju youth teams. The address of the stadium is Pidu tänav 11, Tallinn.The stadium was completely renovated in 2002 and cost 8 million Estonian kroon. In 2006, the old artificial turf was replaced by a 3rd generation turf and an administration building with a stand for 300 people was erected.On 10 September 2011, the highest recorded attendance was set, when 2,730 people watch a football match between hosts JK Nõmme Kalju and FC Flora Tallinn.
