Sheremetyevo Alexander S. Pushkin International Airport (Russian: Международный аэропорт Шереметьево имени А. С. Пушкина, tr. Mezhdunarodny aeroport Sheremetyevo imeni A. S. Pushkina, IPA: [ʂɨrʲɪˈmʲetʲjɪvə]) (IATA: SVO, ICAO: UUEE) is one of four international airports that serve the city of Moscow. It is the busiest airport in Russia, as well as the 13th-busiest airport in Europe. Originally built as a military airbase, Sheremetyevo was converted into a civilian airport in 1959. The airport was originally named after a nearby village, and a 2019 contest extended the name to include the name of the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.The airport comprises six terminals: four international terminals (one under construction), one domestic terminal, and one private aviation terminal. It is located 29 km (18 mi) northwest of central Moscow, between towns of Lobnya and Khimki in Moscow Oblast.In 2017, the airport handled about 40.1 million passengers and 308,090 aircraft movements. During 2018, the airport reported a 14.3% increase in passengers for a total of 45.8 million. There was also a 15.9% increase in aircraft traffic year over year. Sheremetyevo serves as the main hub for Russian flag carrier Aeroflot and its branch Rossiya Airlines; Nordwind Airlines and its branch Pegas Fly; and Ural Airlines.

Aeroflot Flight 065 was a scheduled passenger flight operated by the International Civil Aviation Directorate division of Aeroflot. On 17 February 1966 at 1:38 am local time a Tupolev Tu-114 crashed during take-off from Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow, killing 21 of the 47 passengers and 19 crew members on board. This was the only fatal incident involving a Tu-114. A committee investigating the accident found that the crash was due to multiple crew and ATC failures.

Aeroport Sheremetyevo is a railway station in Sheremetyevo Airport which is served by Aeroexpress. It was opened on 10 June 2008.

Chashnikovo (Russian: Чашниково) is a rural locality (a village) located in the southeast of the Solnechnogorski District, in the central part of the Moscow Oblast, about 34 km southeast of the city of Solnechnogorsk, 12 km from the Moscow Ring Road, just north of Sheremetyevo Airport on the left bank of the Meshcherikha River, which flows into the Klyazma. There are 5 streets in the village - Novaya, Promyshlennaya, Tsentralnaya, Shkolnaya and Kolesny proezd, 3 microdistricts, a garden partnership, a dacha partnership and a dacha cooperative are registered. The nearest settlements are the villages of Isakovo, Nosovo and Perepechino. It is connected by direct bus service to Sheremetyevo Airport, as well as to the towns of Lobnya, Khimki and Dolgoprudny (routes No. 21, 41, 48 and 38). The Chashnikovo estate is an architectural monument of federal significance. It includes a house for servants, a stable, a fence, a park and an outbuilding (a parochial school).

Molzhaninovsky District (Russian: Молжани́новский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the sixteen in Northern Administrative Okrug of the federal city of Moscow, Russia. The area of the district is 16.65 square kilometres (6.43 sq mi) As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 3,521.

Molzhaninovo, formerly Planernaya, is a railway station located on the north side of Khimki on the Moscow-St Petersburg Railway. It serves the Leningradsky suburban railway line.

Khimki Forest (Russian: Химкинский лес, romanized: Khimkinskiy les) is a forest near the Russian city of Moscow covering about 1000 hectares. It is part of the so-called "Green Belt" around Moscow. An $8 billion high speed road, the Moscow–Saint Petersburg motorway (M11), has been proposed to go through the forest to connect Moscow and Saint Petersburg. For this purpose, part of the forest would have been cut down. The construction triggered large protests, which turned violent in July 2010. On 26 August 2010, President Dmitry Medvedev ordered the construction to be halted.

Khimki War Memorial is a memorial to two Soviet pilots and four Red Army soldiers in Novoluzhinskoe cemetery, Khimki, Russia. The memorial and the graves were originally located near Leningradskoye Shosse, a major highway leading from Moscow to the international Sheremetyevo Airport. The remains of the pilots and soldiers were exhumed under the sanction of Khimki authorities in April 2007, and reburied later with military honours to a newly built memorial on the Alley of Heroes in the Novoluzhinskoe cemetery, in the centre of Khimki.

The Babakin Science and Research Space Centre (Russian: Научно-испытательный центр имени Г.Н. Бабакина) is a division of the Lavochkin Design Bureau based in Khimki, Russia. It is managed by them on behalf of Roscosmos. It is named after Georgy N. Babakin, chief designer of the Lavochkin Association from 1965 to 1971. Its task is to probe space through uncrewed lunar and planetary missions. The spacecraft of the Kosmos 1 mission was built at the centre.

Novye Khimki Stadium is football stadium in Khimki, Russia. It is the home ground of FC Khimki. The stadium holds 3,066 people. The football pitch was constructed in 1999, and the stands were built in 2006.

Kurkino District (Russian: район Куркино) is a district of North-Western Administrative Okrug of the federal city of Moscow, Russia. It is just outside the Moscow Ring Road, 19 km northwest of the center of Moscow. The area of the district is 7.91 square kilometres (3.05 sq mi). Population: 30,000 (Est. 2017) 21,314 (2010 Census); 2,155 (2002 Census).

Pulkovo Aviation Enterprise Flight 9560 was a repositioning flight from Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow to Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg. On 28 July 2002, the Ilyushin Il-86 aircraft operating the flight crashed after take-off from Sheremetyevo. 14 of the 16 crew members on board (and the only occupants of the aircraft) were killed, making the crash the deadliest aviation accident involving the Ilyushin Il-86.
