The Babakin Science and Research Space Centre (Russian: Научно-испытательный центр имени Г.Н. Бабакина) is a division of the Lavochkin Design Bureau based in Khimki, Russia. It is managed by them on behalf of Roscosmos. It is named after Georgy N. Babakin, chief designer of the Lavochkin Association from 1965 to 1971. Its task is to probe space through uncrewed lunar and planetary missions. The spacecraft of the Kosmos 1 mission was built at the centre.

Novye Khimki Stadium is football stadium in Khimki, Russia. It is the home ground of FC Khimki. The stadium holds 3,066 people. The football pitch was constructed in 1999, and the stands were built in 2006.

Arena Khimki (Russian: «Арена Химки») is a football stadium in Khimki, Russia. Located 300 metres north of the MKAD highway, it lies on the Moscow Oblast side of the border with Moscow. It is the home stadium of FC Khimki.

Khimki Basketball Center, or Khimki Basketball Center of Moscow Region, is an indoor sporting arena that is located in Khimki, Russia. The total seating capacity of the arena for basketball games is 5,025, which includes the arena's lounge areas. The arena's regular fan seating capacity is 4,000. It is the home arena of the VTB United League professional basketball club Khimki Moscow Region. The main playing hall and stands contain 4,000 seats, the arena complex also includes: two training gyms, six locker rooms (two of which are of NBA level), a press seating section with 45 seats, and 4 commentator cabins, a location setup for TV cameras, a VIP-persons seating section with 164 seats, a media press room center, a post production center, and other features.

Planernaya (Russian: Пла́нерная) is a Moscow Metro station. It opened on December 30, 1975 as the final section of the northern extension of the Krasnopresnensky radius. It is not to be confused with Planernaya Railway Platform on the Moscow-St Petersburg Railway 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) to the North and on the other side of Khimki.

Molzhaninovsky District (Russian: Молжани́новский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the sixteen in Northern Administrative Okrug of the federal city of Moscow, Russia. The area of the district is 16.65 square kilometres (6.43 sq mi) As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 3,521.

Molzhaninovo, formerly Planernaya, is a railway station located on the north side of Khimki on the Moscow-St Petersburg Railway. It serves the Leningradsky suburban railway line.

Severnoye Tushino District or Northern Tushino (Russian: райо́н Северное Тушино) is an administrative district (raion) of North-Western Administrative Okrug, and one of the 125 raions of Moscow, Russia. In the district there are Alyoshkinsky forest and Severnoye Tushino park.

Khimki Forest (Russian: Химкинский лес, romanized: Khimkinskiy les) is a forest near the Russian city of Moscow covering about 1000 hectares. It is part of the so-called "Green Belt" around Moscow. An $8 billion high speed road, the Moscow–Saint Petersburg motorway (M11), has been proposed to go through the forest to connect Moscow and Saint Petersburg. For this purpose, part of the forest would have been cut down. The construction triggered large protests, which turned violent in July 2010. On 26 August 2010, President Dmitry Medvedev ordered the construction to be halted.
