Ngapuna (Māori: Ngāpuna) is a suburb in eastern Rotorua in the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "the springs" for Ngāpuna.The Rotorua Wastewater Treatment Plant is in Ngapuna.

Ōwhata is a semi-rural suburb of Rotorua in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand's North Island. In 2015, it had the highest house sales of any suburb in Rotorua.The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "place of the elevated stage" for Ōwhata.

Redwoods Forest or Redwood Memorial Grove is a forest of naturalised coastal redwood on the outskirts of Rotorua, New Zealand, adjacent to the Whakarewarewa thermal area. The 6 hectares (15 acres) stand of Californian redwoods is part of the larger Whakarewarewa State Forest Park, which is in turn part of the Kaingaroa Forest area.

Rotorua Lakes High School, commonly known as Lakes High, or simply Lakes, is a state school educating boys and girls from Year 9 to Year 13. It is situated in Owhata, in the eastern suburbs of Rotorua, New Zealand, and draws many of its students from the eastern Rotorua urban area, and the semi-rural lakes communities to the south and east of Rotorua; this giving rise to the name Rotorua Lakes. The school has a roll of 706 students from year 9 to 13. It offers the National Certificate of Educational Achievement qualification, alongside New Zealand Scholarship. Opened in 1971, the school is the youngest secondary school in Rotorua and is built in the "S68" style common for secondary schools in New Zealand in this period. Special features of the school include a special needs unit, Astroturf, squash court and horticulture complex.

The Energy Events Centre is a venue for sports, conferences, exhibitions, banquets and concerts in Rotorua, New Zealand. The centre can hold up to 3,500 people and was finished in February 2007. The driving force behind the establishment of the centre was Peter McLeod (died 2015) of Rotorua Lakes Council.The main court is the current alternate home for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic netball team in the ANZ Championship. The franchise uses Mystery Creek Events Centre in Hamilton as their main home venue, with Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre in Tauranga as another alternate home.On 13 May 2021, The New Zealand Breakers announced that they would play an Australian National Basketball League Game against the Cairns Taipans at the venue on 2 June 2021. It was the first time the venue has hosted a Regular Season game in the League.

The Rotorua Museum Te Whare Taonga o Te Arawa is a local museum and art gallery in the Government Gardens near the centre of Rotorua, New Zealand. The museum is housed in the former Bath House building which was opened in 1908 and is noted as the first major investment in the New Zealand tourism industry by the government. The Bath House is a half-timbered building that has been called the most impressive Elizabethan Revival building in New Zealand.The museum is currently closed as of 18 November 2016 due to not meeting stringent New Zealand earthquake standards and will remain so for the foreseeable future.Rotorua Museum opened in the south wing of the Bath House in 1969; Rotorua Art Gallery opened in the north wing in 1977. In 1988, the museum and gallery combined to form the Rotorua Museum of Art and History.The museum is run by the Rotorua District Council. It has collections covering fine arts, photography, social history, and Taonga objects from the Māori culture.

Polynesian Spa is a developed geothermal spa facility in Rotorua, North Island, New Zealand. Local Māori acclaimed the therapeutic benefits of the water and bathed for centuries in the acidic pool 'Te Pupunitanga', now called Priest’s Bath. European thermal bathing history at Polynesian Spa began in 1878 when a Catholic Priest named Father Mahoney bathed regularly in the thermal spring water of hand dug pools where Polynesian Spa is now located on the shores of Lake Rotorua. Over several months his arthritis was greatly alleviated, initiating an international reputation for the therapeutic properties of the hot mineral spring water.The first bath house on site, the Pavilion Bath House opened in 1882, followed by the Ward Baths in 1931. Early bath houses on the site were government-run, the Pavilion Bath, the Duchess Bath, named for the Duchess of Cornwall and York who visited in 1901 and the Ward Baths, named for an early New Zealand Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, who had a passion for thermal waters. In 1902 Mary MacKillop or Saint Mary of the Cross came to Rotorua to seek treatment in the therapeutic waters of the Duchess Bath. On 16 March Mother Mary MacKillop wrote "I feel the baths are doing me good. The rheumatism in my knees is becoming less and I can walk easily now... This is such a nice private house. We have had a priest resident here most of the time..." In 1972, the government of the day leased the Ward Baths to Polynesian Pools Limited and the spa is now known as the Polynesian Spa.

The Government Gardens is a public park, partly laid out as gardens, located beside Lake Rotorua in central Rotorua, Bay of Plenty, North Island, New Zealand. It was built by the government as a tourism attraction, and is still a major tourism destination in New Zealand.

The Blue Baths is a heritage geothermal baths building in Rotorua, in the North Island of New Zealand. The building is designed in the Spanish Mission style. It is listed as a Category 1 Historic Place by Heritage New Zealand. The first Blue Baths at the Government Gardens site were opened in 1886, and stood for over 40 years before being demolished in 1932 when the present building was constructed alongside.Construction of the new building was well advanced by August 1932.On 26 January 2021, the Blue Baths was closed to the public after a seismic assessment found the building met only 15 percent of the strength requirements for new buildings.

Fenton Park is an eastern suburb in Rotorua in the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. Fenton Street contains Rotorua's main motel strip and is sometimes referred to as "Motel Mile".State Highway 30 runs through the southern part of the suburb and SH 30A runs along the northeast boundary. Arawa Park racecourse is in the northern part. The Murray Linton Rose Garden, which opened in 1970, is a public park which was named after Murray Linton, a former mayor of Rotorua.
