Mid-Way Regional Airport (ICAO: KJWY, FAA LID: JWY) is a city-owned public airport that serves Midlothian and Waxahachie in Ellis County, Texas, United States. The airport is 5 nautical miles (9.3 km) southeast of the central business district of Midlothian.Most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, but Mid-Way Regional Airport is assigned JWY by the FAA and has no IATA designation.

Midlothian is a city in northwest Ellis County, Texas, United States. The city is 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Dallas. It is the hub for the cement industry in North Texas, as it is the home to three separate cement production facilities, as well as a steel mill. The population of Midlothian grew by 121% between 2000 and 2010, to a population of 18,037.

Waxahachie Creek is a creek in Ellis County, Texas. The creek rises in Midlothian and flows for 23 miles, running parallel with U.S. Highway 287 from Midlothian to Waxahachie. The creek skirts Lake Waxahachie, flowing under U.S. Highway 77 before flowing into Lake Bardwell near Ennis.

KDAF (channel 33) is a television station licensed to Dallas, Texas, United States, serving as the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex's outlet for The CW. It is owned and operated by network majority owner Nexstar Media Group (based in nearby Irving), although it is not considered the company's flagship station. KDAF's studios are located off the John W. Carpenter Freeway (State Highway 183) in northwest Dallas, and its transmitter is located in Cedar Hill, Texas. KDAF launched in 1980 as KNBN-TV, which aired several types of specialty programs, including business news, subscription television, and Spanish-language programming. Metromedia acquired the station in 1984, converted it to an English-language independent station as KRLD-TV, and made the first of several efforts at local news. When Metromedia's television stations were purchased in 1986, KRLD-TV became KDAF and the Dallas–Fort Worth outlet of Fox; this continued until 1995, when a major realignment of affiliations saw Fox partner with another station and sell off channel 33. Tribune Broadcasting owned the station from 1996 to 2019; during this time, it was one of the most successful affiliates of The WB in the late 1990s and resumed local news production, which continued in some form for nearly two decades.

The station's studios are located at TBN's International Production Center in Irving, and its transmitter is located in Cedar Hill, Texas.

KERA-TV (channel 13) is a PBS member television station licensed to Dallas, Texas, United States, serving the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Owned by North Texas Public Broadcasting, Inc., it is sister to NPR member station KERA (90.1 FM), adult album alternative station KKXT (91.7 FM), and classical music station WRR (101.1 FM, which is operated under a management services agreement with the City of Dallas). The stations share studios on Harry Hines Boulevard, while KERA-TV's transmitter is located in Cedar Hill, Texas. The station's signal is relayed on low-power translator station K26NK-D in Wichita Falls, which provides PBS programming to the Texas side of the Wichita Falls–Lawton market.KERA-TV also serves as the default PBS member station for several markets in North and West Texas that do not have a locally based PBS member station, including Abilene, San Angelo and the Tyler–Longview–Lufkin–Nacogdoches DMA, as well as the Texas side of the Sherman–Ada market. Both stations share studios on Bryan Street in downtown Dallas, while KSTR-DT's transmitter is located in Cedar Hill, Texas.

Waxahachie High School is a public high school in the city of Waxahachie, Texas, United States and classified as a 6A school by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). It is a part of the Waxahachie Independent School District located in central Ellis County. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

Ovilla Christian School (OCS) is a private Christian school located in Ovilla, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, Texas. Founded in 1990 with nine kindergarten students, OCS is a ministry of Ovilla Road Baptist Church (ORBC) and is co-located with the church on a 54-acre (220,000 m2) campus. The school is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and is a member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS). OCS participates in numerous extracurricular events, both athletic and academic, sponsored by ACSI and/or TAPPS. OCS states that it has a maximum capacity of 578 students, and currently averages around 365 students, in a full K4-12 program.

It is a part of the Cedar Hill Independent School District located in southwest Dallas County. In 2018-19, the school received a "C" rating by the Texas Education AgencyThe district, and therefore the school, serves most of the city of Cedar Hill and portions of Grand Prairie, Ovilla, Duncanville and Dallas.
