Central Square Theater is a non-profit theater located at 450 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the United States of America. It features a 200-seat black box main stage and a 50-seat studio theater.Development of the theater began in the late 1990s, when MIT began to consider options for renovating deteriorating buildings it owned on Massachusetts Avenue, including a café and a convenient store. With the help of the Cambridge Historical Commission, the Institute developed a plan to replicate aspects of the original structure and develop a black box theater and retail and office space. It is a collaboration of two separate theater companies—Underground Railway Theater, founded in 1976 in Oberlin, Ohio, and the Nora Theatre Company, founded in 1988 by Mary C. Huntington. With support from the Boston Foundation Arts Fund, the two companies combined forces and moved into the state-of-the-art Central Square Theater in 2008. They continue to maintain their distinct identities.The two companies together produce over 200 performances per year and reach an audiences of over 25,000 people. The Boston Foundation has cited Central Square Theater as "one of the organizations that has contributed to making Greater Boston one of the most culturally rich cities in the world".As of 2013, the artistic director of the Nora Theatre was Lee Mikeska Gardner. The artistic director of Underground Railway Theater is Debra Wise.

The Middle East is an American entertainment complex consisting of five adjacent dining and live music venues in the Central Square area of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Its three dedicated concert spaces, Upstairs, Downstairs, and Sonia, sit alongside ZuZu and The Corner, two restaurants which also host live music. Having featured a huge variety of musicians since 1987, the establishment was described in 2007 as "the nexus of metro Boston's rock-club scene for local and touring bands" by the Boston Phoenix.The establishment was founded as a Lebanese restaurant which was purchased by the Sater family in the 1970s. Incentivized by a local music promoter's birthday party, The Middle East began to book more local rock groups starting in 1987. It gradually expanded into a full-fledged entertainment complex as the owners purchased nearby properties and incorporated them into The Middle East brand, most recently turning T.T. The Bear's into The Middle East's Sonia in 2017.

The MIT School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (SHASS) is one of the five schools of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, US. The school has over 20 departments, department-level programs, and faculties granting SB, SM, and PhD degrees. Major fields of study include anthropology, comparative media studies, economics, history, linguistics, literature, music, philosophy, political science, and theater arts. Constructed in a completely renovated former warehouse, the facility consolidates the performance and design spaces of a new academic major in Theater Arts, which was established in 2015. The building's 25,000 square feet (2,300 m2) includes a two-story, 180-seat, multimedia-equipped performance space which can be reconfigured for each use; as well as a rehearsal studio, dressing rooms, and set and costume makerspaces.

The former Odd Fellows Hall, located at 536 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in the United States, is a historic building built in 1884 by members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. On April 13, 1982, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It is now The Dance Complex, founded by Rozann Kraus in 1991.

The New England Confectionery Company Factory, also known as the NECCO Candy Factory, is an historic factory complex at 250 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The property is now owned by DFS Advisors, and is under long-term lease to Novartis. The complex, which includes the factory building, a power plant, and a modern (2003) parking garage, occupies most of an entire city block bounded by Massachusetts Avenue, Cross Street, Albany Street, and Lansdowne Street. The Moderne-style building was constructed of reinforced concrete, faced predominantly with beige brick and trimmed with limestone. On some facades smooth concrete predominates as the finish surface. The building had a water tower that was painted to resemble a roll of Necco Wafers; during the alterations of the property for use by Novartis, the water tower was retained, and is now painted with a DNA pattern in pastel colors. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The Urban Rowhouse is a historic rowhouse located at 30–38 Pearl Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Built in 1874, this was one of the earliest masonry rowhouses to be built in Cambridge. Stylistically, the three story brick buildings are in a Ruskinian Gothic style, with horizontal bands of colored brick, hooded window lintels, a corbelled cornice, and a steeply-pitched mansard roof with gabled dormers.The rowhouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Salem–Auburn Streets Historic District is a residential historic district at Salem and Auburn Streets in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The district includes a collection of houses that is among the oldest in the Cambridgeport section of the city, and includes most of the houses on two blocks of these streets. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
