West India Dock Road

The Strangers' Home for Asiatics, Africans and South Sea Islanders (opened 1857) was a residential home in West India Dock Road, in the Limehouse district of London, that provided accommodation for Asian and black sailors (lascars), acted as a "repatriation centre" and was a platform for Christian missionary activity.

Westferry is a station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), at the junction of Limehouse Causeway and Westferry Road in Limehouse in London Docklands, England. The station is located in Travelcard Zone 2. To the west is Limehouse station, whilst to the east the DLR splits, with one branch going to Poplar station and the other to West India Quay station.

Pigott Street is a road in Poplar, Tower Hamlets, London. The blocks of flats on it form part of the last phase of the building of the Lansbury Estate, and border the southern end of Burdett Road on the west. The housing was completed in 1982 by the Greater London Council, although earlier phases in the Lansbury Estate were implemented by the London County Council. In 1998, ownership of part of the estate including Pigott Street transferred to a local housing association, Poplar HARCA. Along with various other nearby streets, it is named after the family of Francis Pigott Stainsby Conant, MP for Reading Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man 1860–1863. This family held 38 acres (150,000 m2) of land in Poplar and Limehouse in the 19th century.

Limehouse was a railway station in Limehouse, London, on the London and Blackwall Railway (LBR). It opened in July 1840 and was located at the junction of Bate Street and Three Colt Street, between Stepney station (which after several renamings is the current Limehouse station) and West India Docks station. It closed in May 1926, however the line continued to carry freight to the Isle of Dogs until the 1960s. The platforms at Limehouse were demolished soon after closure but the ground-level station buildings still survive to this day beneath the viaduct.In the 1980s the viaduct it stood on was reused for the City branch of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). The present-day Westferry DLR station stands 200 yards to the east of its site.

Charlie Brown's was the common name for the Railway Tavern pub in Limehouse, London. The pub was built c. 1840 on the corner of Garford Street and the West India Dock Road and greatly extended in 1919. The pub was demolished in November 1989 during construction of the Limehouse Link tunnel.

St Anne's Limehouse is a Hawksmoor Anglican Church in Limehouse, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It was consecrated in 1730, one of the twelve churches built through the 1711 Act of Parliament.

West India Docks was a railway station in Limehouse, east London, that was opened by the Commercial Railway (later the London and Blackwall Railway) in 1840. It was situated between Limehouse and Millwall Junction stations, 2 miles 35 chains (3.9 km) down-line from Fenchurch Street. As the name implies, the station served the West India Docks, though it was located on the north side of the northernmost of the three docks; the LBR was later extended to a new Millwall Docks station to serve the other two docks. West India Docks station opened on 6 July 1840. It was closed to passenger service on 4 May 1926, along with the rest of the LBR east of Stepney. The station, including its timber platforms, was demolished in 1931-34 and today no trace of it remains, and the surrounding area has been heavily redeveloped. The station was located at the junction of Garford Street and West India Dock Road, west of the modern-day Aspen Way. The Docklands Light Railway line between Westferry and West India Quay runs through the station site, although the viaduct it runs on has been completely rebuilt.

Spire London, previously known as Hertsmere House, is a construction project located in West India Quay, near Canary Wharf. Developed by Greenland Group and designed by HOK, construction on the tallest building of 67 stories commenced in 2016, and (at that time) was targeted for completion in 2021.Upon completion, Spire London is due to become western Europe's tallest residential tower. In total, the development is planned to have 861 apartments and expected to cost £800m to construct.As of mid-2019, works on the project were halted.

Columbus Tower was a planned high-rise development by Commercial Estates Group approved for construction on a site on the Isle of Dogs, London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The 63-storey, 242 m (794 ft) AOD (Above Ordnance Datum) tower would have been located on a 0.36-hectare site at the western end of the north dock at West India Quay. At 2009 projected cost was £450M to build and reaching 237 metres in height, and projected was taller only by 2 m than One Canada Square.

Limehouse Town Hall is a former town hall building on Commercial Road, in Limehouse, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is a Grade II listed building.

A statue of Robert Milligan was installed at the West India Docks in London, in 1813. Milligan was a merchant, and was largely responsible for the construction of the West India Docks. After being put in storage in 1943, it was re-erected by the London Docklands Development Corporation in 1997. On 9 June 2020, the statue was removed, coinciding with a drive to review slaver statues launched by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.

Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel is a luxury 5-star hotel in London, England. It is located at 46 Westferry Circus in Canary Wharf. The hotel has 142 rooms and suites containing large bay windows overlooking the River Thames. Its Ancient Egyptian inspired design by Renton, Howard, Wood & Levin, based on earlier work by Philippe Starck, features a curved patinated copper roof. This bold architecture was seen as a departure from the previous conservatism of the Four Seasons group, who built it as Four Seasons Hotel London at Canary Wharf.It is owned by the Monaco-based billionaire property developer John Christodoulou.The mixed-use site has been the subject of much litigation and controversies between the landlord and leaseholders. In 2016, the residential leaseholders won the right to have a court appointed manager installed due to a lack of financial transparency, extortionate service charges and a failure to maintain the estate by landlord Yianis Group. Over 100 of the residents were threatened with defamation for appealing to judges for the removal of the landlord with a section 24 manager. However, Christodoulou began to "chip away at the manager’s powers, costing leaseholders £1m in legal fees in 22 proceedings", eventually forcing the first court appointee to quit on health grounds.
