Catawba Island State Park is a ten-acre (4.0 ha) public recreation area located on Lake Erie, six miles northeast of Port Clinton, Ohio. Boating, fishing and picnicking are the major activities of the park. The state park, along with the other units in Ohio's Lake Erie state parks group, was established in the early 1950s.

Mouse Island is a seven acre private island located in Lake Erie off the northern tip of Catawba Point in Ottawa County, Ohio, United States, near the city of Sandusky (41°35′28″N 82°49′59″W). It was formerly named "Ship Island", as denoted on early-19th-Century maps (and in some late-18th-Century documents). It was later named Mouse Island for its small size. It is part of Catawba Island Township. The island was once owned by the American president Rutherford B. Hayes. The Hayes family built two small cabins, a hand ferry to the shore, a tennis court and supplied the island with running water. In the 1930s the island fell into disuse and all amenities were destroyed by fire or neglect. The Hayes family owned the property until 1966 as none of the former president's grandchildren remained in the area. Remains of the structures can still be found on the island today – including the native stone chimneys of the summer cabins as well as part of the foundation.The Island is privately owned and is not open for public visitation. A limestone reef between the island and shoreline presents a safety hazard for watercraft that draw more than 3 feet.

Fort Firelands is a recreation of a 19th-century-style frontier fort located in Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio, United States. It was built in 1968 with the original construction including stockade fencing, corner blockhouses with gun ports, and barracks. A pioneer village and early western-style museum were some of the original attractions. Today, what remains of the original structures are being repaired and rehabilitated. An RV resort is located behind the fort complex. Renewed interest in the unique, neo-historical structure is being shown and events are again to be held in the fort complex. Several postcards were issued that illustrate the initial construction.

East Harbor State Park is a public recreation area located eight miles (13 km) northwest of Sandusky, Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie. The state park includes beach, campground, marina, and wetland wildlife preserve areas. The park offers swimming, boating and fishing, ten miles (16 km) of multi-use trails, picnicking, hunting, and disc golf.

The African Safari Wildlife Park is a drive through wildlife park in Port Clinton, Ohio, United States. Visitors can drive through the 65-acre (26 ha) preserve and watch and feed the animals from their car. Visitors can spend as much time in the preserve as they wish, observing and feeding the animals, before proceeding to the walk through part of the park, called Safari Junction. The park is closed during the winter.The park considers itself to be one of the leaders in conservation efforts for the animals it supports. Current breeding efforts are focused on the alpaca, white zebra, giraffe, and giant eland.On November 28, 2019, a large fire erupted in a barn where some of the animals were kept, killing 10 animals. An investigation by the State Fire Marshal ruled that the cause was undetermined, but was not from criminal activity. The park re-opened on May 14, 2020.

Erie–Ottawa International Airport, (Carl R. Keller Field) (ICAO: KPCW, FAA LID: PCW) is three miles east of Port Clinton, in Ottawa County, Ohio. It is owned by the Erie–Ottawa Airport Authority. The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a general aviation facility. On November 9, 2013, Erie–Ottawa Airport obtained approval to handle international flights. Most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, but this airport has no IATA code.

The Liberty Aviation Museum is located in Port Clinton, Ohio, United States, adjacent to the Erie–Ottawa International Airport.

Starve Island is an island of the U.S. state of Ohio located in Lake Erie. The 2-acre (0.81 ha) island is about a mile (1.6 km) south of South Bass Island. In normal weather conditions it is visible for only a mile or two, as some rocks and a few shrubs poking up from the lake, and is the second smallest of the Lake Erie Islands (the smallest is Turtle Island). The island can be seen from the top of Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial in Put-in-Bay. It is said that the island gets its name from a sailor's fate upon the island following a shipwreck. Variant names for the island include Dinner Island and Glacial Island.The Starve Island Reef is located approximately one mile further south of Starve Island at 41°36′46″N 82°48′56″W. Island and reef are both located in Put-in-Bay Township, Ottawa County, Ohio.

South Bass Island Light is a lighthouse on the southern end of its eponymous island in Lake Erie. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on April 5, 1990 and is thought to be the only lighthouse in the United States owned by a university - Ohio State.

Put-in-Bay Airport (FAA LID: 3W2) is a public airport located in Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island in Ottawa County, Ohio, United States. The approach to Runway 21 is complicated by Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial, which is almost exactly in line with the runway; pilots are asked to respect special procedures to avoid the monument. The airport is located in the center of the southern half of the island. Put-in-Bay's airport is open year-round for arrivals and departures from dawn to dusk. Runways at the Put-in-Bay airport are paved but not lighted, so there are no departures after dusk. There is no fuel service at the Put-in-Bay airport, but fuel may be purchased at Erie–Ottawa International Airport in Port Clinton. The Put-in-Bay airport provides charter services, refreshments (vending), and rest rooms. Credit cards are accepted. The airport is mainly used to bring mail to the island as well as to bring passengers nearby islands and mainland Ohio. It is also home to three air tour operators who provide recreational trips from the airport.The airport received a $22,000 grant in 2021 to provide economic relief funds for costs related to operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, debt service payments, and combating the spread of pathogens.

Gypsum is an unincorporated community in eastern Portage Township, Ottawa County, Ohio, United States. It has a post office with the ZIP code 43433.The community is named for deposits of the gypsum rock near the original town site. Gypsum mining in the area by U.S. Gypsum Corporation began in 1902 and stopped in the 1970s, however the company continues to operate a manufacturing plant in the community.Children from Gypsum families generally attend the Port Clinton City School District.
