St. John Vianney High School (Kirkwood, Missouri)

J. Milton Turner School, originally Meacham Park School, is a historic former school building in the Meacham Park neighborhood of Kirkwood, Missouri outside St. Louis. It served African American students during segregation and was named for James Milton Turner.

Meacham Park is a neighborhood of the city of Kirkwood, Missouri outside of St. Louis City in St. Louis County. It was established in 1892 by Elzey E. Meacham as an unincorporated community largely of African Americans and was eventually annexed by the city of Kirkwood, which relocated many of its residents to make way for a mall and other commercial property. Kirkwood previously annexed another strip and, along with the construction of a highway, physically divided the communities. Years of discrimination and neglect followed with Meacham used for public housing projects but not receiving the public services of its neighboring city. After it was annexed and hundreds of residents relocated or departed, tensions continued as its school was closed, requests for a community center at the closed school denied, and contracts made for city business with firms outside Meacham. During segregation Meacham Park stood apart with its own institutions.On February 7, 2008, Charles L. "Cookie" Thornton, a disturbed construction business owner who had been in dispute with Kirkwood officials for years, shot up a Kirkwood city council meeting killing five people.The former J. Milton Turner School building in Meacham Park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Also, the neighborhood's First Baptist Church, established in 1907 and originally built next to the J. Milton Turner School, was one of the first buildings in the St. Louis area that was owned by African Americans.The area includes the 1.25 acre Meacham Memorial Park.

Laumeier Sculpture Park is a 105-acre open-air museum and sculpture park located in Sunset Hills, Missouri, near St. Louis and is maintained in partnership with St. Louis County Parks and Recreation Department. It houses over 60 outdoor sculptures and features a 1.4-mile (2.3 km) walking trail, and educational programs. There is also an indoor gallery, an 1816 Tudor stone mansion, which was the former residence of Henry and Matilda Laumeier. Laumeier is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The park sees about 300,000 visitors each year and operates on a $1.5 million budget.

Christ Community Lutheran School or "CCLS" is a private, Lutheran school serving approximately 650 students ages 6 weeks–8th grade in the St. Louis area. Four campuses comprise Christ Community Lutheran School in the Crestwood, Glendale, Kirkwood, and Webster Groves areas. CCLS was named a 2009 Nationally Recognized Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. In 2018, CCLS was recognized as an Accredited Exemplary School by the National Lutheran School Accreditation Commission.

The Magic House is a not-for-profit children's museum located in Kirkwood, Missouri, just outside St. Louis. The Magic House opened as a children's museum in 1979 with the mission of engaging children in hands-on learning experiences that encourage experimentation, creativity and the development of problem-solving skills within a place of beauty, wonder, joy and magic. Since the opening of the Museum in 1979, The Magic House has undergone a series of additions and renovations that have expanded the Museum space from 5,500 square feet to 55,000 square feet (5,100 m2). The Magic House has gained recognition as one of the nation's top children's museums, and was ranked the nation's #1 attraction based on child appeal by Zagat U.S. Family Travel Guide. The Museum attracts more than 560,000 visitors per year and since its opening has been visited by more than 12 million people.

St. Louis Community College–Meramec (also known as STLCC-Meramec or Meramec) campus is located in the suburb of Kirkwood, Missouri. Meramec is the largest community college in Missouri with over 12,000 undergraduate and transfer students. Along with the 78-acre (31.6 ha) main campus in Kirkwood, Meramec operates one satellite campus in South St. Louis County - Meramec's South County Education and University Center. The college is named after the Meramec River that meanders through central Missouri before emptying into the Mississippi River at the border between St. Louis and Jefferson Counties.

Bonhomme Township is a township in St. Louis County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. Its population was 36,316 as of the 2010 census. Bonhomme Township takes its name from Bonhomme Creek.

Olive Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church (also known as Olive Chapel AME Church, and Evangelische Friedens Gemneinde Lutheran Congregation) is a historic church built in 1899, and located at 309 S. Harrison Avenue in Kirkwood, Missouri. It is the oldest Protestant church in Kirkwood. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 20, 2004.

On February 7, 2008, a gunman went on a shooting rampage at a public meeting in the city hall, leaving six people dead and one injured in Kirkwood, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Charles Lee "Cookie" Thornton, aged 52, shot one police officer with a revolver across the side street from city hall and took the officer's handgun before entering city hall. Thornton reached council chambers with these two pistols shortly after the meeting began. There, he shot a police officer, the public works director, two council members, the mayor, and a reporter. In total, the gunman killed five and wounded two others; one of the two wounded victims, the mayor died seven months later in a hospice where he was receiving cancer care. The shooter died from two gunshot wounds in a shootout with police.

Kirkwood station, also called the Kirkwood Missouri Pacific Depot, is a suburban Amtrak train station in Kirkwood, Missouri, United States. Located in downtown Kirkwood, it is one of three Amtrak stations in the St. Louis metropolitan area; the other two are the Gateway Multimodal Transportation Center in downtown St. Louis, and the Alton station. The station is run entirely by volunteers. It is the third-busiest Amtrak station in Missouri.

Eliot Unitarian Chapel (also known as Saint Peter's) is a historic church in Kirkwood, Missouri. The building was originally constructed for Grace Episcopal Church. It was built in 1859 by architect Robert S. Mitchell in the Gothic Revival style. Patrick McCullough of Kirkwood (formerly Galway, Ireland) worked as stone mason. In 1961, the building was transferred to Eliot Unitarian Chapel, and the Grace Episcopal congregation moved down Argonne Street to another building. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Kirkwood Public Library (KPL) primarily serves residents of the city of Kirkwood, Missouri, USA. The library is operated independently, and is a part of the Municipal Library Consortium of St. Louis County (MLC), which connects it to 8 other independently operated libraries in neighboring St. Louis County municipalities. It is a member of the Downtown Special Business District and the Kirkwood Des Peres Area Chamber of Commerce. In 1930, the Kirkwood Public Library helped to open the Ferguson Municipal Public Library by donating its initial first books.
