Weißensee (German for "white lake") is a town in the district of Sömmerda, in Thuringia, Germany. It is situated 6 km northwest of Sömmerda, and 25 km north of Erfurt. The former municipality Herrnschwende was merged into Weißensee in January 2019.

Kindelbrück

Kindelbrück (German: [ˈkɪndl̩ˌbʁʏk] ) is a municipality in the district of Sömmerda, in Thuringia, Germany. It is situated on the river Wipper, 12 km north of Sömmerda. The former municipalities Bilzingsleben, Frömmstedt and Kannawurf were merged into Kindelbrück in January 2019. In January 2023 Kindelbrück absorbed the former municipality Riethgen.

Bilzingsleben (German: Fundplatz Bilzingsleben, lit. discovery site Bilzingsleben) is a former stone quarry in Thuringia, Germany, notable for its wealth of palaeolithic human fossils and artifacts. One of the oldest buildings in the world and one of the oldest pieces of art was found at the site.

Leubingen tumulus

The Leubingen tumulus (German: Fürstengrab von Leubingen) is an Early Bronze Age "princely" grave of the Leubingen culture, (which, after further finds at Auntjetitz became known as Auntjetitz or Unetice culture), dating to about 1940 BC. It is located near the hills of Kyffhäuser in Leubingen, an Ortsteil of Sömmerda in the eastern German state of Thuringia.
