Katherine Mary Clutterbuck CSC MBE (October 1860 in Wiltshire, England – 31 July 1946 in Nedlands, Western Australia), usually known as Sister Kate, was an Anglican nun who pioneered a cottage home system for looking after orphan babies and children in Western Australia. She later became well known for her work with Indigenous Australian children who were selected according to a criterion of skin colour and sent to her homes to groom the young "nearly white" children for absorption into the white community. These children would later be described as part of the Stolen Generation. Clutterbuck was the daughter of well-off parents, Captain Clutterbuck and his wife. She was awarded an Order of the British Empire (Member of the Civil Division), on 1 January 1934, for her services to disadvantaged children. In December 2006, the West Australian newspaper published a list entitled the "100 Most Influential Western Australians" which included Clutterbuck. The list was developed by a committee including several eminent Western Australian historians.

Stoneville is a suburb east of Perth in the Shire of Mundaring, Western Australia. It is named after Edward Albert Stone, who was Chief Justice of Western Australia when the place was named in 1905. The name was chosen by the local residents, who were developing the district for fruit growing. The town's population is 2,050, with a median age of 36 years and 7.1% of residents aged over 65. In a bushfire in January 2014 a considerable number of houses were destroyed.In 2019 local residents resorted to activism in a bid to stop the proposed North Stoneville SP34 development in favour of more sustainable housing. External studies have shown existing road infrastructure can only cater for approx 70 more dwellings and main roads have confirmed there are no upgrades planned for this area intersecting Great Eastern Highway. A special councillors meeting was held in August, at which the Mundaring Shire unanimously rejected the proposal. As of October 2019 the final decision sits with the Western Australian Planning Commission.

The Parkerville Children's Home Bush Cemetery was part of the Parkerville Children's Home (originally The League of Charity Home for Waifs and Stray Babies). The Home was founded in 1903 by Anglican nuns led by Sister Kate. Parkerville Children's Home is located in Parkerville, Western Australia, and continues to operate. The numbers of children at Parkerville Children's Home increased from 22 in 1903, to approximately 109 in 1914. Conditions were very hard during that time and the Home relied on philanthropic donations to continue.When a child died the Sisters would carry the simple coffins by horse and cart along the small dirt track from the Home. The cemetery is located 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) west of the home. There are approximately 30 children buried in the cemetery who died between 1903 and 1919, but the names of only 24 are known. They are listed on a plaque by the entrance gate.A bushfire destroyed the wooden crosses on each grave and these were replaced with the existing concrete crosses. One early tombstone remains, that of baby Mary.

The Mahogany Inn, also called the Old Mahogany Inn, is a historic building on the Great Eastern Highway in Mahogany Creek in Western Australia. Under various owners and tenants, a range of brief histories were produced of the inn, as well as the occasional newspaper article.The inn has had a range of modifications in surrounding grounds and buildings, however the main building remains intact.

The Loose Box was a restaurant in Mundaring, an outer eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. During its 34-year existence, it won many awards for its classical French cuisine and service, and had a big impact on the hospitality industry in Perth.At the time of its closure, the restaurant held a two star rating by The West Australian Good Food Guide 2013. Alongside it was a complex of six cottages providing bed and breakfast accommodation to diners who wanted to stay the night.

Mahogany Creek is a suburb of Perth, the state capital of Western Australia. It is part of the Shire of Mundaring local government area. Its name is derived from the historic Mahogany Inn, constructed in about 1880, and situated on what was the York Road, now known as the Great Eastern Highway. The inn is heritage listed."Swan River Mahogany" was the name by which Eucalyptus marginata, one of the colony's earliest exports, was known in its European market. Mahogany Creek is also the location of the steepest section of the Great Eastern Highway after Greenmount Hill. The suburb had a population of 763 in 1991, and in 1996 it was 822. There was a railway station on the original route of the Eastern Railway, and there have been a number of shops close to the railway station. Only one remains, now an antique shop.

Mundaring is a suburb located 34 km east of Perth, Western Australia on the Great Eastern Highway. The suburb is located within the Shire of Mundaring. The Aboriginal name of the area "Mindah-lung", said to mean "a high place on a high place", was anglicised to become "Mundaring".The Mundaring area is considered to be part of the Perth Hills area.

The Shire of Mundaring is a local government area in eastern metropolitan Perth, the capital of Western Australia. The Shire covers an area of 645 square kilometres (249 sq mi) and had a population of approximately 38,000 as at the 2016 Census.

Hovea is a suburb in the Shire of Mundaring in Perth, Western Australia. It is centred on Jane Brook and encompasses the Railway Reserve Heritage Trail (formerly the Eastern Railway) and John Forrest National Park. Hovea extends as far north as Toodyay Road, and south to Glen Forrest and Great Eastern Highway. Its western boundary is also the western boundary of the park. Hovea (named for a native Australian flowering plant) was originally named Park View, but the name was changed in 1912 to avoid confusion between Park View, Swan View, National Park and Bellevue, all nearby railway stations.

Mundaring Cemetery is located at the intersection of Yarri Grove and Railway Terrace, Mundaring, Western Australia. Mundaring Cemetery was gazetted as a burial ground in 1906. Prior to the development of the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board each local council was responsible for maintaining their own cemeteries and trustees were appointed to run a cemetery and pass by-laws. Before the creation of Mundaring Cemetery families travelled to Midland and Guildford for funerals.The Swan Express newspaper suggested the location of the Mundaring Cemetery was not proving an ideal site for "the city of the dead" as the ground was too rocky.The earliest burials took place in the Anglican section of the cemetery and the earliest headstone that survives is that of Albert Lemmey, who died at the age of three in 1916. The next recorded burial was that of Private Gordon Jacques of the 28th Battalion. Jacques had been gassed during World War I and returned home for care, dying shortly afterwards in January 1919. His brother carved the timber enclosure that surrounds the grave.The Mundaring Cemetery is administered by the Shire of Mundaring and, since 2007, is no longer available for interments unless already reserved.

Glen Forrest is a suburb within the Shire of Mundaring, south of John Forrest National Park, west of Mahogany Creek, east of Darlington, and north of the Helena River. Its northern boundary is determined by the Great Eastern Highway. The area was originally named Smith's Mill, after A. C. Smith & Son's jarrah saw mill, established in October 1877. In 1915 local residents petitioned to change the area's name to Glen Forrest, to honour Sir John Forrest, first Premier of Western Australia.The suburb is bisected by a disused railway track - the original route of the Eastern Railway - which is now known as the Railway Reserve Heritage Trail, and Nyaania Creek. It has a number of significant conservation reserves including the Glen Forrest Super Block, which is adjacent to Ryecroft Road (the main connecting road to Darlington).The major early industries were forestry, and the Stathams Brickworks, which had its own siding, just east of the railway yard. The brickworks was located on a patch of white clay that is now a park and recreation area. It has two commercial areas - one adjacent to and just north of the former railway station site, and the other at the intersection of Hardey Road and Great Eastern Highway. Like Darlington to the west, Glen Forrest had at its earliest times a winery, Glen Hardey, on the valley edge down which Hardey Road passes.
