Bockhorn is a municipality in the district of Friesland, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is approximately 15 km southwest of Wilhelmshaven, and 30 km northwest of Oldenburg.

Varel (German pronunciation: [ˈfaːʁəl] ) is a town in the district of Friesland, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated near the Jade River and the Jade Bight, approximately 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) south of Wilhelmshaven and 30 kilometres (19 mi) north of Oldenburg. With a population of 23,984 (2020) it is the biggest town in the district of Friesland.

Sande is a municipality in the district of Friesland, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated near the Jade Bight, approximately 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) west of Wilhelmshaven, and 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) southeast of Jever. Sande is on the railway which links Oldenburg to Wilhelmshaven and Esens. A bypass is planned so that rail traffic for the JadeWeserPort will not pass through the centre of Sande.

Friesland is a district (Landkreis) in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the southeast and clockwise) the districts of Wesermarsch, Ammerland, Leer and Wittmund, and by the North Sea. The city of Wilhelmshaven is enclosed by—but not part of—the district.

JadeWeser Airport (German: JadeWeser Airport) (IATA: WVN, ICAO: EDWI) is a minor unscheduled airport near Wilhelmshaven, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is located near JadeWeserPort, a major German deep-sea harbour construction site.

Varel (German: Bahnhof Varel) is a railway station located in Varel, Germany. The station is located on the Oldenburg–Wilhelmshaven railway. The train services are operated by NordWestBahn.

Lake Bant, or Banter See in German, is an artificial lake in the North Sea port city of Wilhelmshaven in north-west Germany. It is about 2.6 kilometres (1.6 mi) long and 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) wide. It was originally part of the harbour complex created by enclosing part of Jade Bight bordering the city's waterfront for military and industrial use. It used to contain naval facilities, including a submarine base. Now separated from the port, it is used mainly for recreation and research. It is surrounded by parkland, recreational facilities, up-market housing, research institutes and company offices.

The Marineunterstützungskommando (MUKdo) is a command authority of the German Navy. The advance detachment began in the spring of 2012 in Roffhausen near Wilhelmshaven on the site of the former Olympic works with the establishment of the office. The command was set up on October 1, 2012. It has 1142 military and civil service posts at 16 locations with a focus on the Wilhelmshaven area and Eckernförde. In Virginia Beach there is a branch that serves the connection to the United States Navy.

Ammerland is a district in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the east and clockwise) the city of Oldenburg and the districts of Oldenburg, Cloppenburg, Leer, Friesland and Wesermarsch.

Westerstede (German pronunciation: [vɛstɐˈʃteːdə] ; Low German: Westerstäe) is the capital of the Ammerland district, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 25 km northwest of Oldenburg. It is known for hosting the Rhodo Festival, the biggest exhibition of rhododendrons in Europe. The festival is hosted every four years (next time in 2023). The villages of Burgforde, Eggeloge, Felde, Fikensolt, Garnholt, Gießelhorst, Halsbek, Halstrup, Hollriede, Hollwege, Hollwegerfeld, Hüllstede, Ihausen, Ihorst, Karlshof, Linswege, Linswegerfeld, Mansie, Lindern, Moorburg, Neuengland, Ocholt, Ocholterfeld, Ollenharde, Petersfeld, Tarbarg, Torsholt, Westerloy, Westerloyerfeld and Westerstederfeld are part of Westerstede. The railway station of Westerstede is located in the village of Ocholt, 6 km south of the town. Trains from and to Leer and Oldenburg halt there every hour. The community (and the whole Ammerland region) is famous for its tree nurseries. They grow rhododendrons that are sold outside Germany as well. The slightly acid peat soil is very suitable for this type of horticulture. Near Linswege village, 7 km north-east of Westerstede, a Rhododendron Park has been established next to a beautiful wooded area. The park is open to visitors in May and June every year.
