Fåberg

Fåberg is a village in Lillehammer Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located in the Gudbrandsdalen valley, along the shore of the Gudbrandsdalslågen river. The town of Lillehammer lies about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) to the southeast of Fåberg and the village of Jorstadmoen lies about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) to the southwest of Fåberg. The European route E6 highway and the Dovrebanen railway line both run through the village. The historic Fåberg Church lies a short distance west of the village, on the other side of the river. The 0.52-square-kilometre (130-acre) village has a population (2021) of 696 and a population density of 1,347 inhabitants per square kilometre (3,490/sq mi).From 1838 to 1964, the village of Fåberg was the administrative centre of the old Fåberg Municipality. In 1964, it was merged into Lillehammer Municipality.

Fåberg Station (Norwegian: Fåberg stasjon) is a former railway station on the Dovre Line, located at Fåberg in Lillehammer, Norway. Until 1924, it was called Faaberg.

Rock petroglyphs are found at Drotten, Fåberg, in Lillehammer municipality in the county of Oppland, Norway. The petroglyphs are located west of the river Lågen about 1.5 km above the Brunlaug bridge (they are difficult to reach when the river is flooded). There are a total of 11 petroglyphs within a 4 m² area on a cliff by the river. Seven of these petroglyphs could be moose. The rest are more ambiguous, but are also likely to be moose. The carvings are narrow and shallow, with the largest being 45 cm across.

The 14th World Scout Jamboree was held July 29 to August 7, 1975, and was hosted by Norway at Lillehammer, on the shore of Lake Mjøsa.King Olav V and Harald V of Norway, who then was crown prince, opened "Nordjamb '75", as it became popularly known, in the presence of 17,259 Scouts from 94 countries. The slogan was Five Fingers, One Hand, an example of international cooperation on the part of the five Nordic countries responsible for its organization.This slogan stood symbolically for: Five fingers separately are small and weak, but together form an efficient and strong unit Scouts from all five continents meet at the World Jamboree The five Nordic countries jointly host a world eventThe slogan for the Jamboree was represented in a number of ways, including one event that brought all of the Jamboree participants together into the central arena, where they formed a giant hand that was photographed from aircraft flying overhead.The British contingent, led by Robert Baden-Powell, 3rd Baron Baden-Powell, included Scouts from Branches in Bermuda, Hong Kong and Rhodesia.The program of this Jamboree included excursions in the mountains by international patrols, activity areas, Nordic trail, choir, visit to Maihaugen cultural museum, and the Jamboree Country Fair. Home hospitality was provided in residences across scandanavia. This Jamboree included in the program several activities involving modern technology, as well as hiking, orienteering and camping.The Jamboree was also visited by Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden and Crown Prince Mohammed VI of Morocco.

Lillehammer University College (Norwegian: Høgskolen i Lillehammer) was a state university college located at Storhove in Lillehammer, Norway. It was merged with Hedmark University College to become the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences in 2017.

Storhove is a neighborhood of Lillehammer, Norway, located 5 kilometers (3 mi) north of the city center. It is the location of a Inland Norway University site, and the Lillehammer offices of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. During the 1994 Winter Olympics, it also hosted the International Broadcasting Center and the Main Press Center.

The Cyber Engineering School (CIS) (formerly the Norwegian Defence School of Engineering) is a defence and military engineering university located in Lillehammer, Norway. The college was established in 1994.

Jørstadmoen is a village in Lillehammer Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located along the river Gudbrandsdalslågen, about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) to the northwest of the town of Lillehammer. The 0.8-square-kilometre (200-acre) village has a population (2021) of 661 and a population density of 825 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,140/sq mi).The village is the site of the Jørstadmoen leir, a military base that is the main base for the Norwegian Cyber Defence Force as well as the Cyber Engineer Academy. The village also has a school, grocery store, and sports facilities.

The Fåberg stone (Norwegian: Fåbergsteinen) is a runestone next to Fåberg Church in the village of Fåberg in the municipality of Lillehammer in Oppland County, Norway. It is registered with the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage under number 58558.

Fåberg Church (Norwegian: Fåberg kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Lillehammer Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the village of Fåberg. It is the church for the Fåberg parish which is part of the Sør-Gudbrandsdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Hamar. The red, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1727 using plans drawn up by the architect Svend Tråseth. The church seats about 292 people.Next to the church stands the Fåberg stone, a runestone believed to have been one of three monoliths standing near the church.The church can be reached via Norwegian County Road 255.

The Gudbrandsdalslågen (or simply Lågen) is a river which flows through the Gudbrandsdal valley in Innlandet county, Norway. The 204-kilometre (127 mi) long river runs through a large valley in Eastern Norway before emptying into Mjøsa, the largest lake in Norway. The river flows through the municipalities of Lesja, Dovre, Sel, Nord-Fron, Sør-Fron, Ringebu, Øyer, and Lillehammer.

Balbergbakken or Balbergbakkene was a ski jumping hill complex located at Fåberg in Lillehammer, Norway. The centerpiece consisted of a large hill with a construction point of 120 meters (390 ft) (K-120), in addition to three smaller K-40, K-25 and K-15 hills. The venue was opened in 1972, having cost slightly more than one million Norwegian krone (NOK) after significant cost overruns. Balbergbakken hosted three Norwegian Championships, in 1973, 1978 and 1983, and a FIS Ski Jumping World Cup in 1984. The hill record of 130.5 meters was set by Tom Levorstad in 1981. It was planned that the venue would be used for the 1994 Winter Olympics, but because of lack of infrastructure, the new Lysgårdsbakken was built instead. Balbergbakken was closed in 1992.
