Cedarview Middle School is a dual-track English/French immersion middle school in the Barrhaven neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Ottawa-Carleton District Board (OCDSB). Cedarview was opened in 1994. The building is characterized by its bright blue roof. As of the 2022-2023 school year, the principal is Shelley Neill and the vice-principal is Jennifer Stadler. The school is also home to a Grade 7 and 8 Congregated Gifted class and an autism program.Cedarview holds a world record for Largest Simultaneous Yo-yo, which they broke on June 8, 2006. On June 6th, 2006 the record was attempted by the entire staff and students, and the attempt was successful, beating the previous record by a mere six people. The record was featured in the Canadian edition of the Guinness Book of World Records 2008, in the upper right corner of page 7.Students have also participated in the Annual Cedarview Middle School Walkathon and raised over $96,000 toward help for adults with multiple disabilities. Grade 8 teacher Barbara Troutman was awarded the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board's 2007 Community Award for her role in organising the event to raise funds and awareness within the school and community.

CIWW (1310 kHz, CityNews Ottawa) is a commercial AM radio station in Ottawa, Ontario, owned by Rogers Sports & Media, and branded as CityNews Ottawa. It simulcasts a News/Talk radio format, along with co-owned 101.1 CJET-FM. The radio studios and offices are at Thurston Drive and Conroy Road in Ottawa. The station broadcasts at 50,000 watts, the maximum for Canadian AM stations. The transmitter site is on McKenna Casey Drive, near Strandherd Drive and Ontario Highway 416 in Nepean. To protect other stations on 1310 AM, it uses a directional antenna. By day it employs a two-tower array and at night a five-tower array. The nighttime signal is beamed mainly into Canada.

John McCrae Secondary School is a public secondary school in the Nepean district of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It supports grades 9-12. Built in 1999, it is the primary public high school in Barrhaven, replacing its predecessor, Confederation High School. John McCrae Secondary School is attached to the Walter Baker Sports Centre. Attending students have several activities and amenities available to them, such as squash, swimming, weightlifting, and a library. The school is built on a hill in a residential neighborhood in old Barrhaven and is named for Lieutenant Colonel John Alexander McCrae, MD (November 30, 1872 – January 28, 1918), a Canadian poet and doctor during World War I who wrote the poem "In Flanders Fields". Prior to 2016, the school performed a musical every other year. Past years' musicals have included Lucky Stiff, Zombie Prom, High School Musical, "The Butler Did It, Singing," and Back to the 80s. In 2015, the school performed its last musical, Hair.

Nepean Township is a former incorporated and now geographic township in Eastern Ontario, Canada, now part of the City of Ottawa. Originally known as Township D, it was established in 1792. In 1800, it became part of Carleton County and was incorporated as a township in 1850. The first settler in the township was Jehiel Collins, from Vermont, who settled in an area near the Ottawa River which later became part of Bytown. Over the years, parts of Nepean Township were annexed by the expanding city of Ottawa. The original town hall of the township of Nepean was located in Westboro, which became part of Ottawa in 1949. A new town hall was built in Bells Corners in 1966. Nepean was incorporated as a city in 1978 and became part of the amalgamated city of Ottawa in 2001. Nepean Township took its name from Sir Evan Nepean, British Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department from 1782 to 1791. According to the Canada 2001 Census, the Township (original boundaries) had a population of 339,708. The 1850 boundaries of Nepean Township were the Ottawa River on the north, the Rideau River on the east, approximately along where Bankfield Road and Brophy Drive are today on the south, and approximately where Eagleson Road, March Road, and Hertzberg Road are today through to Shirleys Bay on the west. The township included much of what is now Ottawa, all of the former City of Nepean, and parts of the former City of Kanata. To the west of Nepean Township was Goulbourn and March Townships, to the east Gloucester Township, and to the south North Gower Township. ... in 1848 Nepean commenced to run its own affairs alone. There were 169 ratepayers in the Township entitled to vote that year, and the Town Wardens were John Robertson and Samuel Collins; Clerk, James Shanley; 1849 (last year of the old system) - Town Wardens were Chester Chapman, John Scott; Assessor - James Spain; Collector - E.L. Wood. The Town meeting to elect the first Council under the new system was held at Bell's Corners, January 7, 1850 , when Frederick Bearman, J.P., Chester Chapman, James Spain, John Robertson, J.P., Michael Grady, John Scott, G.W. Baker, William Foster and John Thompson ran for Councillors - the five first-named being elected. These were all present at the first Council meeting held at the same place, January 21, 1850, when Colonel Frederick Bearman was chosen Reeve. He resigned in December 1850 and Chester Chapman succeeded to the vacant position for the balance of the term. The same Council were re-elected in 1851. Mr Chapman was again chosen Reeve, and James Spain , Deputy - and the same gentlemen held the same positions during 1852 and 1853. In 1854, Mr. Chapman was again chosen Reeve, but declined to act and the place was filled by John Scott.

Clarke Fields Park is a park in the west end of Barrhaven, Ontario, Canada, located at 93 Houlahan Street. The park features several soccer fields, one baseball diamond, a playground, a bike path, and a BMX track. The park is currently maintained by the City of Ottawa. Each year, Clarke Fields Park is the venue of two large community events. The annual Barrhaven Canada Day festivities and the Ottawa Oktoberfest. Both attract thousands of visitors from Barrhaven and the greater Ottawa community at large.

Trend-Arlington is a suburban neighbourhood in Knoxdale-Merivale Ward in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The neighbourhood is located with in the former City of Nepean in the west end of the city. It is located west of Greenbank Road, east of Highway 416 and Cedarview Road, north of West Hunt Club Road and south of the Leslie Park neighbourhood. Its main road is McClellan Road, which is renamed Banner Road at its north end. The community was developed by the Campeau Corporation from the 1960s to the 1980s. A swath of the Trend-Arlington neighbourhood was devastated by an EF-2 tornado on September 21, 2018.

Nepean is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 1997, and was reinstated during the 2012 electoral redistribution. The original riding was created in 1987 from parts of the Nepean—Carleton riding. It consisted of the City of Nepean. The electoral district was abolished in 1996 when it was redistributed between the Nepean—Carleton (54%) and the Ottawa West—Nepean (46%) ridings. The riding was then reinstated in 2012 by Elections Canada, taking effect upon the dropping of the writs for the 2015 federal election, scheduled for 19 October 2015. All of the current riding comes from parts of the former riding of Nepean—Carleton.

Nepean is a provincial electoral district that has existed from 1987 to 1999, and again since 2018. The riding was re-created federally with the 2012 redistribution process. That same process was followed by the Ontario government, meaning the provincial ridings follow a similar boundary division for the 2018 provincial election.

Bell Centennial Arena, also known as Bell Arena for short, is a multi-purpose arena in Bells Corners in Nepean, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada that is located behind Bell High School at 50 Cassidy Drive former Cedarview Road before the new Veterans Memorial Highway (Ontario Highway 416) was built.

Arbeatha Park is a sub-neighbourhood of Lynwood Village, which is in turn a sub-neighbourhood of Bells Corners in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Bounded to the west is Moodie Drive, north is Old Richmond Road, east is Lynwood Village and south is a forest owned by the city of Ottawa. The neighbourhood is the second area to be developed in Bells Corners from 1955 to 1958. Later in the 1970s more townhouses were built on Old Richmond Road. It is home to Arbeatha Park located on Arbeatha Street. A mosque called Jamiatul Muslemeen is on Moodie Drive. It was home to D. Aubrey Moodie Public School, which was Bell Corners' junior high school ranging from grades 6–8. D.A.Moodie Public School was closed in 2017.

Fallowfield is an unincorporated village (also known as Fallowfield Village) in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, located south-west of Bells Corners, west of Barrhaven and the 416 and north-east of Richmond within the southwest area of the city. Fallowfield is located in the triangle of Fallowfield Road, Richmond Road and Steeple Hill Crescent and also includes Richmond Road north up to Hope Side Road. The village serves as a bedroom community for the larger urban area of Ottawa as there are no retail or commercial enterprises in the village. It assumes a rather prominent position over the surrounding countryside as the major part of the village is located on a gently terraced escarpment. Population for the village is estimated at about 366 people as of 2004. Public high school students in this area go to South Carleton High School in Richmond. It is the site of the CFIA Fallowfield Laboratory, a 2000-acre farm which houses amongst other facilities the Food Science Laboratory, the Ottawa Animal Health Laboratory, and the Ottawa Plant Laboratory.

Bell High School is a public high school located in the Bells Corners neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario.
