Ashford Hospital

Thomas Knyvett College () is a medium sized mixed school with Academy Converter status (conversion to an Academy is underway during the 2014–2015 academic year) educating students aged 11–16 in Ashford, Surrey, England. The college is part of the Howard Schools Trust which includes the Howard of Effingham School in Effingham in the county, the schools within which are supported by an Executive Headteacher, the prototype arrangement of its kind in the United Kingdom.

Staines Rural District was a rural district of Middlesex in England from 1894 to 1930. It was created in 1894 replacing the 1875-created Staines rural sanitary district. It co-governed with varying degrees of input from the civil parish councils and functions increasingly came to be carried out by the newly created Middlesex County Council from 1888: Ashford Cranford East Bedfont also known as Bedfont Feltham Hanworth Harlington Harmondsworth Laleham Littleton Shepperton Stanwell (including until 1990 a very small part of Colnbrook with Poyle). HanworthIt was named after Staines, the urban district of which bordered it to the west, and bordered that of Sunbury to the south-east. Feltham became an independent urban district in 1904 so for the following 26 years the parish of Hanworth was an exclave of the district surrounded by five Urban Districts. The rural district was divided up among existing urban districts in 1930. It covered over half of medieval Spelthorne Hundred one of six divisions of the historic county Middlesex.

St David's School was an independent girls' school in Ashford (historically in Middlesex, but from 1965 in the district of Spelthorne in Surrey), England. The school was originally established in London in 1716 as the British Charity School or Welsh Charity School. It was located in a purpose-built home on Clerkenwell Green from 1738, before moving to Gray's Inn Road in 1772, and eventually to Ashford in 1857. It was at first a boys' school, and then from 1758 co-educational, but from 1882 it began to admit girls only and became known as the Welsh Girls' School. It changed its name to St David's School in 1967, and closed in 2009.

Ashford railway station serves the town of Ashford, Surrey, in the borough of Spelthorne in South East England. It is 17 miles 40 chains (28.2 km) down the line from London Waterloo. Although the station signage displays only Ashford, the station is referred to in timetables, and as printed on railway tickets, either as Ashford (Surrey), or Ashford (Middlesex) (from the historic county), in order to differentiate it from Ashford International railway station in Kent.

Stanwell is a village close to two of the three main towns in the Borough of Spelthorne, Surrey, about 16 miles (26 km) west of central London. A small corner of its land is vital industrial land serving Heathrow Airport – most of the rest is residential/recreational, and the housing ranges from suburban homes with gardens to low- to mid-rise urban apartment blocks. Historically part of the county of Middlesex, it has, like the rest of Spelthorne, been in Surrey since 1965. The village is to the south of the cargo-handling area of Heathrow Airport and to the east of the Staines Reservoirs. Its recognisable extent has been substantially cut three times – all in the 20th century. Land was taken for reservoirs in about 1900; a few decades later land was taken into Heathrow Airport; and in 1995, after the completion of the M25 motorway, the settlement of Poyle (beyond Stanwell Moor) was detached from the Borough and reassigned to Colnbrook in the Borough of Slough. Stanwell Moor is seen as its own village since the 1870s secularisation of local government. It likewise has reservoirs in its historical area. It was recognised as a manor in medieval times. It has a few pasture/horse-riding fields, horticultural businesses and flood meadows. It is centred 1 mile (1.6 km) from the historical nucleus of Stanwell and is part of the same ward and ecclesiastical parish. Since the 1945 naming of Ashford Hospital, after two other re-namings, from the Staines Poor Law Union Infirmary, the far south of Stanwell has been widely conflated as being part of Ashford by visitors and some residents. This is reinforced by a large supermarket adopting the Ashford name and by the ease of delivery-made borders of the TW15 versus TW19 postal districts.

Ashford Town (Middlesex) Football Club are a football club based in Stanwell, Surrey, England. The club are currently members of the Isthmian League South Central Division and play at the Robert Parker Stadium in Short Lane. They are affiliated to both the Middlesex FA and the Surrey FA.

Spelthorne College was a single-campus sixth form college on Church Road, Ashford, Surrey, England. It was formed in 1975 as a successor to Ashford Sixth Form College and Sunbury Sixth Form College. Its campus was founded in 1911 as Ashford County Grammar School, which became a sixth form college in 1975. In 2007 Spelthorne College merged with Brooklands College in Weybridge.

Ashford is a town in Surrey, England, 14 mi (23 km) west of central London. Its name derives from a crossing point of the River Ash, a distributary of the River Colne. Historically part of Middlesex, the town has been part of Surrey since 1965. Ashford consists of relatively low density low- and medium-rise buildings, none of them being high rise. If excluding apartments (at the last census 27% of the housing stock) most houses are semi-detached. Ashford railway station, on the Waterloo to Reading Line, is served by South Western Railway. Heathrow Airport is 2.5 mi (4 km) north of the town. A leading gymnastics club, HMP Bronzefield and one of the sites of Brooklands College are in the town. Ashford Hospital, which began as a workhouse, is to the north of the town centre. Ashford Common has a parade of shops and is a more residential ward that includes part of Queen Mary Reservoir and all of its related water treatment works. The town is surrounded by some areas of green space including The Princes Club, Bedfont Lakes and Shortwood Common.

The Staines Reservoirs are two large pumped storage reservoirs sitting to the east of the King George VI Reservoir near Heathrow airport in Surrey within the Colne Valley regional park. The village of Stanwell is mainly to the north east, and the town of Staines is to the south. Both adjoin, west, the A3044. The south one adjoins the A30 where the road is bypassed by the intra-M25 motorway network but is a trunk road, maintained by National Highways. They were completed in 1902.

The Church of St Mary the Virgin, Stanwell, is a Church of England parish church in the village of Stanwell, Surrey. It dates to the 12th-century and is a grade I listed building. It has Norman and Gothic architectural elements including a 14th-century spire.

HMP Bronzefield is an adult and young offender female prison located on the outskirts of Ashford in Surrey, England. Bronzefield is the only purpose-built private prison solely for women in the UK, and is the largest female prison in Europe. The prison is operated by Sodexo Justice Services.

The T2 Energy Centre is a biomass-fuelled combined heating and power (CHP) station at Heathrow Airport in London which opened in December 2012. It provides heat to half of the active terminals: Terminal 2 and Terminal 5 and electricity into the local grid, similar to some of the airport's operations demands.
