Maerdy Farmhouse, Llanvihangel-Ystern-Llewern

Llanvihangel-Ystern-Llewern (Welsh: Llanfihangel-Ystum-Llywern) is a village in the community of Whitecastle, in Monmouthshire, south east Wales. It is located between Abergavenny and Monmouth and north of Raglan. The River Trothy passes close by.

The Church of St Michael and All Angels, Llanvihangel-Ystern-Llewern, Monmouthshire, Wales, is a parish church with its origins in the 15th century. Renovations took place in the 19th century under the direction of Thomas Henry Wyatt. It is a Grade II* listed building and an active parish church.

The Pant, Llanvihangel-Ystern-Llewern, Monmouthshire is a hall-house dating from the 16th century with an attached 17th century Quaker meeting house. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Tal-y-coed Court,, Llanvihangel-Ystern-Llewern, Monmouthshire, Wales, is a Victorian country house. Constructed in 1881–1883, it was built for the Monmouthshire antiquarian Joseph Bradney, author of A History of Monmouthshire from the Coming of the Normans into Wales down to the Present Time. A Grade II* listed building, the house is a "fine historicist essay in the Queen Anne Style, one of the earliest examples in Wales." Its gardens and park are designated Grade II on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

Upper Red House, Llanvihangel-Ystern-Llewern, Monmouthshire, Wales, is a farmhouse of the late 17th century. Standing one kilometre south west of the parish church, the building is little altered from the time of its construction, although subject to restoration in the 20th/21st centuries, and has a Grade II* listing.

Newcastle (Welsh: Castell-newydd) is a small village in Monmouthshire, south east Wales, United Kingdom. It is located in quiet rolling countryside 6 miles (9.7 km) north west of Monmouth and 9 miles (14 km) east of Abergavenny, on the B4347 road, within the community of Whitecastle.

The farmstead complex of Grange Farmhouse, Newcastle, Monmouthshire is a grouping of early 18th farm buildings. It comprises a stable, two barns, two cow houses, a shelter-shed and a poultry enclosure with a duckpond. The complex is listed Grade II*, the associated farmhouse having a separate Grade II listing.

Grace Dieu Abbey was a small Cistercian abbey established in 1226 near to the town of Monmouth in south east Wales. No remains of its buildings can now be seen above ground. It was originally located on the west bank of the River Trothy, in remote countryside about 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the village of Dingestow, but relocated on at least one occasion after being attacked by the Welsh. Its final site is uncertain, but investigations have focused on a field on the east side of the Trothy, at grid reference SO45121311, and this is the location labeled on OS maps. The abbey was founded by John of Monmouth, who requested permission to establish it in 1217. It was the last Cistercian foundation in Wales. A founding community was sent from its mother house, Dore Abbey in Herefordshire, in 1226, when the abbey was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was always poor, although it owned land on both sides of the River Wye. The abbey held a grange, known variously as Wyesham Grange or Beaulieu Grange, east of Monmouth, land now known as Beaulieu Farm. The abbey was attacked by the Welsh in 1232, razed to the ground the following year, and relocated from its original site in 1236. King Henry III of England granted them trees from Grosmont Forest and Seinfremy Wood in 1240 and 1253. The community sought to relocate again in 1276. About 1291 the abbey has an estimated net income of £18 5s, 8d. In 1356, it was granted use of the chantry chapel in Monmouth Castle.The abbey was dissolved in 1536, under the Act of Suppression.

The Church of St Cadoc, Llangattock Vibon Avel, Monmouthshire is a parish church of medieval origins which was heavily restored in the 19th century. The estate church of The Hendre, it is closely connected with the Rolls family and the grave of Charles Stewart Rolls, the motoring and aviation pioneer, is located in the churchyard. The church is a Grade II* listed building and is now in the care of the Friends of Friendless Churches.

Llangattock-Vibon-Avel (Welsh: Llangatwg Feibion Afel) is a rural parish and former community, now in the community of Whitecastle in Monmouthshire, south-east Wales, in the United Kingdom. It is located 5 miles (8.0 km) west of Monmouth and some 13 miles (21 km) east of Abergavenny, just off the B4233 old road between the two. Villages within the former community include Llangattock itself, Skenfrith, Rockfield, and Newcastle.

The Hendre, (Welsh: Yr Hendre a farmer's winter residence; literally meaning old home) in Rockfield, is the only full-scale Victorian country house in the county of Monmouthshire, Wales. The ancestral estate of the Rolls family, it was the childhood home of Charles Rolls, the motoring and aviation pioneer and the co-founder of Rolls-Royce. Constructed in the Victorian Gothic style, the house was developed by three major architects, George Vaughan Maddox, Thomas Henry Wyatt and Sir Aston Webb. It is located in the civil parish of Llangattock-Vibon-Avel, some 4 miles (6.4 km) north-west of the town of Monmouth. Built in the eighteenth century as a shooting box, it was vastly expanded by the Rolls family in three stages during the nineteenth century. The house is Grade II* listed and is now the clubhouse of the Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club. The gardens and landscape park, mainly laid out by Henry Ernest Milner in the later 19th century, are designated Grade II* on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

Hilston Park is a country house and estate between the villages of Newcastle and Skenfrith in Monmouthshire, Wales, close to the border with Herefordshire, England. The house and park are in the Monnow valley, beside the B4347 road, 7.9 miles (12.7 km) by road northwest of Monmouth and just over 1 mile (1.6 km) southwest of Skenfrith. The Palladian mansion, built in 1838 for Bristolian banker George Cave, is a Grade II* listed building, the grounds and landscape park are registered on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales and the park's flower meadow is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The park includes an early 20th century lodge at each of the two entrance gates; a ruined coach house; a lake, boathouse, and pond; several streams, gardens, and wooded areas; and Hilston Tower, a late 18th-century folly of red sandstone in the grounds's northeastern corner. The house served as a residential outdoor education centre, operated by Gwent Outdoor Centres and supported by the local authorities of Newport, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent and Monmouthshire until 2019. In 2020, the councils decided to consolidate their outdoor education facilities on a single site, and Hilston Park was deemed surplus to requirements. The house was sold at auction in 2021.
