Geislingen, Zollernalbkreis

Ostdorf is a Swabian village within the city limits of Balingen, Germany. Originally a village of its own, Ostdorf and Balingen have grown towards each other since the close of World War II. Finally, in 1971 Ostdorf was included to Balingen as a suburb. It is located 75 kilometers in the south of Stuttgart.

It is located near the Swabian Jura, approx. 35 km to the south of Tübingen, 35 km northeast of Villingen-Schwenningen, and 70 km south southwest of Stuttgart. Bang Your Head!!! was a heavy metal and hard rock festival held annually in Germany. First held in 1996 as a one-day indoor event in the Stefan-Hartmann-Halle in Tübingen with a crowd of 600 people, Bang Your Head!!! has since moved to Balingen, growing into a multi-day event attracting 1,800 people in 1998, 18,000 people in 1999 and 20,000 in 2005. Acts that have performed at this festival include W.A.S.P., Dio, Motörhead, Deep Purple, and Twisted Sister.The festival was discontinued in 2023.

The Schafberg is a mountain, 1,000.1 m above sea level (NHN), on the western edge of the Swabian Jura near Balingen in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is part of the Balingen Mountains (Balinger Bergen) and is surrounded by the towns and villages of Roßwangen, Weilstetten (both in the borough of Balingen), Tieringen (borough of Meßstetten) and Hausen am Tann. Its neighbouring mountains are the Plettenberg (1,002 m) and the Lochenstein (963 m). From the viewing points of Hoher Fels (996.5 m) and Gespaltener Fels (1,000.1 m) there are very good views of the surrounding area. Walks link the Balingen Mountains and the North Swabian Jura Way (Schwäbische-Alb-Nordrand-Weg) runs over the Schafberg. The Schafberg lies within the Upper Danube Nature Park.

Hohenzollern-Haigerloch was a small county in southwestern Germany. Its rulers belonged to the Swabian branch of the House of Hohenzollern. It became part of the neighboring Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen in 1767.
