Camperdown Works was a jute works in Dundee, Scotland, which covered around 30 acres and at one point employed over 14,000, mostly female, workers. It was for a time the world's largest jute works and was owned by Cox Brothers.

Lochee () is an area in the west of Dundee, Scotland. Until the 19th century, it was a separate town, but was eventually surrounded by the expanding Dundee. It is notable for being home to Camperdown Works, which was the largest jute production site in the world.

Mills Observatory is the first purpose-built public astronomical observatory in the UK, located in Dundee, Scotland. Built in 1935, the observatory is classically styled in sandstone and has a distinctive 7 m dome, which houses a Victorian refracting telescope, a small planetarium, and display areas. The dome is one of two made from papier-mâché to survive in the UK, the other being at the Godlee Observatory.

Dundee Violet Football Club are a Scottish football club based in the city of Dundee. Members of the Scottish Junior Football Association, they currently play in the East Region North Division. Formed in 1883, their home ground is Glenesk Park and the club colours are royal blue. Up until the end of the 2005–06 season, they played in the Tayside Premier League of the Scottish Junior Football Association's Eastern Region. The club won the Scottish Junior Cup in 1928–29, defeating Denny Hibs 4–0 at Dens Park after a second replay. This was due to the original tie being protested as Violet played an ineligible player, then the first replay finishing in a 2–2 draw. In doing so, "the Pansies" became the first club from Tayside to win Junior football's national cup competition. During the summer of 2017, Violet agreed a partnership with local youth club Fairmuir to provide a pathway to adult football for Fairmuir's young players. Fairmuir's Under 19 team were renamed Fairmuir Violet and many of the side signed dual contracts with both clubs. As part of the partnership agreement, Fairmuir's Under 19s train with DVFC on a weekly basis, sharing coaching resources and facilities at Glenesk Park for cup games. In addition Fairmuir's Under 17s team also train with Violet on a monthly basis.

Royal Victoria Hospital, Dundee, is a hospital in Dundee, Scotland. It was formerly known as the Victoria Hospital for Incurables. Today, the hospital is primarily dedicated to medicine for the elderly. It is managed by NHS Tayside.

Lochee Harp Football Club are a Scottish Junior football club historically based in the Lochee area of the city of Dundee. Formed in 1904 and nicknamed "the Harp", they play at Lochee Community Sports Hub. The team moved into this new ground adjacent to the former home of Beechwood Park in late 2020. Their strip colours are green and white. Lochee Harp were formed among the Irish community in Lochee, and derive their history as an Irish Catholic football club. They were formed in much the same way as Hibernian, by local priests and church members to alleviate the boredom of the workers and provide some recreation. Dundee United have much the same origins, having been formed as Dundee Hibernian, and there was another Irish based club in the Lochee area as well, Lochee Emmet, named after the Irish patriot Robert Emmet. They were members of the Tayside Junior League, but are presently competing in the East region of Scottish junior football which they, along with all Tayside junior clubs became a part in 2002. Lochee Harp were formerly a hugely successful junior team, winning the Dundee Junior League in their first season of existence, but have found such success more hard to come by in recent years.

St John's Roman Catholic High School is a secondary school in Dundee, Scotland. It was founded early in 1931 by the Marist Brothers, a religious congregation dedicated to education and under the patronage of the Virgin Mary. The school had eight houses named after abbeys in Scotland: Balmerino, Melrose, Jedburgh, Lindores, Paisley, Kelso, Iona and Dunkeld. In July 2011, the House system was streamlined to three: Dunkeld, Jedburgh, and Melrose. As of 2018, the school has an enrolment of 1,030 students, and although Catholic in outlook, welcomes all religious backgrounds, and none.

The Western Cemetery in Dundee, Scotland, is a still-operational cemetery founded in the mid 19th century. It rises northwards from the Perth Road, with terraces in its upper sections. It views over the Firth of Tay to the Tay Rail Bridge and Fife. The Western Cemetery is maintained and managed by Dundee City Council.

Balgay (Gaelic: Baile (na) Gaoithe) is a suburb in the west end of Dundee, Scotland. The name, derived from Gaelic, seems to mean 'stead of the marsh/wind' . During the 17th century, Balgay House was built and now this has become incorporated into Royal Victoria Hospital. Balgay Hill and Victoria Park were acquired by Dundee City Corporation in 1870 as public parks. The Mills Observatory designed by James MacLellan Brown was added in 1935 at the summit of the 143m hill. It is the only full-time public observatory in UK. Lochee Park is situated east of Balgay and has a perimeter of 1½ miles (approx). The park annually hosts firework displays to celebrate Bonfire Night in conjunction with Radio Tay roadshow. Primary schools in Balgay include Hillside Primary School and Ancrum Road Primary School. Menzieshill High School was also located nearby. Balgay is now part of the Lochee ward, and after the council elections on 3 May 2007, the Councillors are Nigel Don, Bob Duncan, (both Scottish National Party), John Letford and Tom Ferguson, (both Labour) Many bus routes in Dundee pass through Balgay including Xplore Dundee bus services 9, 10, 11, 12, 17, 22/22c and Stagecoach Strathtay services 72, 73 and 75. Services 17, 22/22c, 72, 73 and 75 usually terminates at the Ninewells Hospital terminus.

Harris Academy is a co-educational comprehensive school in the West End of Dundee, Scotland. Harris Academy was founded in 1885 and is the oldest state school in Dundee. Harris Academy is also the largest state run school in Dundee in terms of number of pupils and the school campus building and is known for being one of the most successful schools in Dundee and Scotland by record of attainment and exam result successes which are considered 'well above average'.Over the course of its history, Harris Academy has been housed at three locations across the city in Park Place, Perth Road and Lawton Road temporally, with its permanent campus based on Perth Road.
