IES College of Engineering (IESCE) is an engineering college situated in Chittilappilly, in Thrissur district, Kerala, India. The college is run by Ideal Education Society. The college is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and the University of Calicut. It started functioning in August 2003.

Vilangan Hills (Malayalam: വിലങന്‍ കുന്നു) is a hillock located in Adat Panchayat, near Thrissur city of Kerala state in India. The hill gives a panoramic view of Thrissur city and Thrissur Kole Wetlands from the top. The hill was referred as an Oxygen Jar of Thrissur city. The name 'Vilangan Kunnu' is a misnomer because 'Vilangan' itself means hill. There is no need of adding 'Kunnu' after 'Vilangan'. It is an ancient Malayalam word derived from proto-Dravidian language. Till the 1970s the word 'Kunnu' was not used by revenue authorities and locals. It is a recent addition. In Tamil too 'Vilangan' means hill.

It is a Christian minority institution established and administered by the Devamatha Province of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), an indigenous religious congregation founded in 1831.

Amala Nagar is an Indian village in the Thrissur district of Kerala. It has Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, one of medical colleges of Thrissur district (And after which the place itself is named). It is on the State Highway 69, which extends up to Kuttippuram. This place was earlier known as Vilangan, which name it got from the nearby hill Vilangan Kunnu. The place is surrounded by various temples, church and a Mosque as well as various central and state syllabus school. The Sreeramakrishna Ashram and Sarada Vidhyapeeth are nearby. Shreeramakrish Ashram runs school for boys and Sarada Vidyapeeth runs school for girls. Both are very good schools. Sobha city mall is about 4 km from Amala Nagar.

Muthuvara Mahadeva Temple (Malayalam: മുതുവറ മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രം) is a Shiv temple located in Muthuvara, Thrissur city of India. Parashurama, the sixth avatar of Vishnu has installed the idol. The idol is in rowdrabhavam. The temple have one sreekovil for Shiv and another one for Vishnu.

Thrissur-Ponnani Kole Wetlands (Malayalam: തൃശൂർ-പൊന്നാനി കോൾ പാടങ്ങൾ) is a wetland lying in Thrissur and Malappuram districts in Kerala, India. It gives 40 per cent of the Kerala’s rice requirement and acts as a natural drainage system for Ponnani city, Thrissur city, Thrissur District, and Malappuram district. The Kole Wetlands is one of largest, highly productive and threatened wetlands in Kerala and it comes in Central Asian Flyway of migratory birds.
