Frankfort is a village in Will County and Cook County in the U.S. state of Illinois. It is a southern suburb of Chicago, and is approximately 28 miles (45 km) south of the city. As of the 2020 census, the population was 20,296.Frankfort’s historic downtown area contains the Frankfort Grainery, Breidert Green, and a portion of the Old Plank Road Trail, a 22 mile-long paved recreation trail. The village also contains Commissioners Park and multiple schools, including Lincoln-Way East High School, Hickory Creek Middle School, and Dr. Julian Rogus School.

The Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart is a Roman Catholic religious congregation of women based in Frankfort, Illinois, and located in the Catholic Diocese of Joliet, Illinois. The Sisters serve in healthcare, education, religious education, parish and diocesan ministries and ministry to the poor.Following the Rule of Saint Francis of Assisi and as members of the Third Order Regular, they are women dedicated to sharing their lives in prayer, community and ministry. Their founder, Father Wilhelm Berger, defined their ministries as works of neighborly love.

Mokena (moh-KEE-nuh) is a village in Will County, Illinois, United States. It is a southwest suburb of Chicago. The population was 19,887 at the 2020 census. The Census Bureau's 2019 estimate found that the population had increased to 20,159.

Mokena is one of two commuter rail stations along Metra's Rock Island District line that are located in Mokena, Illinois. The station is located on Front Street and Mokena Street east of Wolf Road, and is 29.6 miles (47.6 km) away from LaSalle Street Station, the northern terminus of the line. In Metra's fare-based system, Mokena is in zone F. As of 2018, Mokena is the 90th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 559 weekday boardings.As of 2022, Mokena is served by 42 trains (21 in each direction) on weekdays, by 21 trains (10 inbound, 11 outbound) on Saturdays, and by 16 trains (eight in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. Unlike Hickory Creek to the east, Mokena has both a waiting room and a ticket agency window. Parking is available on Front Street between Wolf Road and Mokena Street, as well as on the northwest corner of McGovney Street and Mokena Street. Additional parking can be found further northwest on Willow Crest Lane off of Wolf Road, and at the Village Hall to the northeast on the corners of Division, Third, and Carpenter Streets. Currently, no bus connections are available at the station.

Hickory Creek is one of two commuter rail stations along Metra's Rock Island District line that are located in Mokena, Illinois. The station is located at 9430 Hickory Creek Drive east of a former section of US 45, near Exit 145A on Interstate 80, which is the current southbound exit to US 45. It is 27.2 miles (43.8 km) away from LaSalle Street Station, the northern terminus of the line. In Metra's fare-based system, Hickory Creek is in zone F. As of 2018, Hickory Creek is the 45th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,079 weekday boardings.As of 2022, Hickory Creek is served by 42 trains (21 in each direction) on weekdays, by 21 trains (10 inbound, 11 outbound) on Saturdays, and by 16 trains (eight in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. Hickory Creek was built in 1993, and is a fully enclosed brick-faced shelter with no ticket agents. Parking is available in front of the station on Hickory Creek Drive. Currently, no bus connections are available at the station.

Illinois's first congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Illinois. Based in Cook County, the district includes much of the South Side of Chicago, and continues southwest to Joliet. From 2003 to early 2013 it extended into the city's southwest suburbs until reaching the border of Will County, and covered 97.84 square miles (253.4 km2), making it one of the 40 smallest districts in the U.S. (although there are four smaller districts in Illinois). The district had a population that was 65% African American, the highest percentage of any congressional district in the nation, but with redistricting that percentage has now declined to 52%. It includes the home of former President Barack Obama. The 1st is a majority-minority district, and has been since at least the 1920s. In 1929, it became the first district in the 20th century to send an African American to Congress when Republican Oscar Stanton De Priest was elected to represent the district. The 1st has been represented by an African American Member of Congress ever since, the longest ongoing stretch of black representation for any seat in the House of Representatives. It has been held by a Democrat since 1935 when Arthur Mitchell, the first African American Democrat elected to Congress, took the seat as part of the New Deal Coalition. In 1949, district representative William Dawson became the first African American to chair a congressional committee. Since redistricting by the state legislature after the 2010 census, it is 51.3% black, 40.6% white, and 9.8% Hispanic in population. The district is currently represented by Jonathan Jackson who was elected to succeed longtime incumbent Bobby Rush in 2022.

WLS (890 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Chicago, Illinois. Owned by Cumulus Media, through licensee Radio License Holdings LLC, the station airs a talk radio format. WLS studios are in the NBC Tower on North Columbus Drive in the city's Streeterville neighborhood. The station's programming is also available in the Chicago metropolitan area via a simulcast on the HD2 digital subchannel of sister station WLS-FM. Its transmitter site is located on the southwestern edge of Tinley Park, Illinois in Will County. WLS is a Class A station broadcasting on the clear-channel frequency of 890 kHz with 50,000 watts, using a non-directional antenna fed by a Nautel NX-50 transmitter, with a Harris DX-50 serving as a backup transmitter. Both transmitters run in MDCL (Modulation Dependent Carrier Level) mode to improve efficiency. The station's daytime groundwave service contour covers portions of five states. At night, its signal routinely reaches 38 states via skywave. WLS participates as an Emergency Alert System primary entry point, serving northern Illinois and western Indiana.
