Auckland Domain

The Domain Wintergardens is a complex of gardens located within the Pukekawa / Auckland Domain. It is registered with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust as a Category I historic place.

The Auckland War Memorial Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira (or simply the Auckland Museum) is one of New Zealand's most important museums and war memorials. Its collections concentrate on New Zealand history (and especially the history of the Auckland Region), natural history, and military history. The present museum building was constructed in the 1920s in the neo-classicist style, and sits on a grassed plinth (the remains of a dormant volcano) in the Auckland Domain, a large public park close to the Auckland CBD. Auckland Museum's collections and exhibits began in 1852. In 1867 Aucklanders formed a learned society – the Auckland Philosophical Society, later the Auckland Institute. Within a few years the society merged with the museum and Auckland Institute and Museum was the organisation's name until 1996. Auckland War Memorial Museum was the name of the new building opened in 1929, but since 1996 was more commonly used for the institution as well. From 1991 to 2003 the museum's Māori-language name was Te Papa Whakahiku.AK is the index herbariorum code for the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

Kaitiaki is a public sculpture located in the Auckland Domain in Auckland, New Zealand, created by New Zealand sculptor Fred Graham. The 11.8 metres (39 ft) tall piece depicts a kāhu pōkere (harrier hawk), a bird that features as a guardian in Ngāti Whātua and Tainui oral histories. Developed as a part of the Auckland Domain Sculpture Walk, the sculpture was unveiled in 2004.

Parnell railway station is a station serving the inner-city suburb of Parnell in Auckland, New Zealand. It is situated on the Newmarket Line, approximately 600m north of Parnell Tunnel, and is located in the Waipapa Valley adjacent to Auckland Domain. It serves Southern Line and Western Line trains. The station opened on 12 March 2017 with relatively basic facilities and initially serving a limited number of lines. Future development will involve building a second pedestrian underpass under the tracks to provide step-free access to the platforms, and constructing several new paths to provide more direct access to Auckland Domain, Parnell Town Centre and the University of Auckland. It was originally intended that the station would eventually serve all three lines which pass through it. This was contingent on the removal of the Sarawia Street level crossing in Newmarket, removing the signalling constraints which affected the line. A bridge built to replace the level crossing, linking Laxon Terrace with nearby Cowie Street, allowed the removal of the crossing.

ACG Parnell College is an independent co-educational facility and is part of ACG Schools, whose New Zealand schools are members of the Independent Schools of New Zealand (ISNZ). The school is located in the suburb of Parnell in Auckland, New Zealand. The school offers the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) and International Baccalaureate. The school is also a member of the Association of Cambridge Schools in New Zealand. ACG Parnell College is split up into four campuses - Early Learning School on 110 Park Road, Primary School Campuses on 39 George Street, Middle School Campus on 2 Titoki Street (Main ACG Parnell College building) and a Senior Campus on 9 Davis Crescent.

Carlaw Park was a multi-purpose stadium in Parnell, a central suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. It neighboured the Auckland Domain's Northern end. It was primarily used for rugby league and had a peak spectator capacity of around 28,000 in the 1930s, though this fell to around 17,000 by the time the ground was closed in 2002.

The ATP Auckland Open, commonly known by its sponsored name ASB Classic, is a professional men's tennis tournament in Auckland, New Zealand. The tournament is played annually at the ASB Tennis Centre, in Parnell. It is part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour. The tournament is held annually in January a week before the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open. The Auckland Open is expected to return in 2023 after the 2021 and 2022 events were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic owing travel restrictions for international visitors to New Zealand.

The ASB Tennis Centre is a tennis facility located in the Parnell district of Auckland, New Zealand. The centre was opened on 18 November 1922 by the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association (now Tennis Auckland) on grounds leased from the Auckland City Council, that are a part of Pukekawa / Auckland Domain. Originally the centre had nine outdoor grass courts as well as a stand for 400 spectators. In 1977 the surface of the courts, 12 at the time, was changed to hardcourt. It currently hosts the ASB Classic for both men and women on consecutive weeks in January each year before the Australian Open. The centre is also a regular host of New Zealand Davis Cup team ties, including the 1975 and 1977 Eastern Zone finals. It is located on Stanley Street next to the Domain entrance. The centre has twelve courts, all floodlit GreenSet hardcourts. Three are indoors and nine outdoors including the stadium court. As well as tennis, the centre court has hosted an International Beach Volleyball Tournament on the week after the ASB Classic. The venue underwent redevelopment in 2010, adding advanced gym facilities, a rooftop swimming pool, a player lounge and bar, and reconfigured court layout. Plans were also made to add a retractable roof, but as of 2020 the roof project was awaiting government funding to proceed.

The 2020 Auckland Open (sponsored by ASB Bank) was a joint ATP and WTA tennis tournament, played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 35th edition of the women's event, and the 44th edition of the men's event. It took place at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland, New Zealand, from 6 to 12 January 2020 for the women, and from 13 to 18 January 2020 for the men.

The 2019 Auckland Open (sponsored by ASB Bank) was a joint ATP and WTA tennis tournament, played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 34th edition of the women's event, and the 43rd edition of the men's event. It took place at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland, New Zealand, from 31 December 2018 to 6 January 2019 for the women, and from 7 to 12 January 2019 for the men.

The 2016 Auckland Open (currently sponsored by ASB) was a joint 2016 ATP World Tour and 2016 WTA Tour tennis tournament, played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 31st edition of the women's event, and the 40th edition of the men's event. It took place at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland, New Zealand, from 4 to 9 January 2016 for the women, and from 11 to 16 January 2016 for the men.

The 2018 Auckland Open (sponsored by ASB Bank) was a joint 2018 ATP World Tour and 2018 WTA Tour tennis tournament, played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 33rd edition of the women's event, and the 42nd edition of the men's event. It took place at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland, New Zealand, from 1 to 7 January 2018 for the women, and from 8 to 13 January 2018 for the men.
