Torbay is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Kevin Foster, a Conservative.

Torre Abbey is a historic building and art gallery in Torquay, Devon, which lies in the South West of England. It was founded in 1196 as a monastery for Premonstratensian canons, and is now the best-preserved medieval monastery in Devon and Cornwall. In addition to its medieval and Georgian rooms, Torre Abbey is known for the formal gardens on Abbey Park and Meadows, for the third largest art collection in the county of Devon and for regular exhibitions by contemporary artists.

Recreation Ground is a former First-class cricket ground located in Torquay, Devon. It has been the home of Torquay Cricket Club since 1926. Some sources wrongly attribute matches played at Torquay Cricket Club prior to 1926 to the Recreation Ground, although they were played at Barton Road which was the home of Torquay CC from 1852 to 1925 and is now the home of Barton CC. Between 1954 and 1958, the ground hosted annual fixtures between the South and the North, and between England XI and Commonwealth XI. The ground has been among the home venues for Devon County Cricket Club since 1932, while first-class county Somerset have also hosted four matches on the ground. The ground was first used by Torquay Athletic in 1888, but Athletic left twice due to financial disputes before returning for good in 1904. Since 1926 Torquay Athletic RFC have continued as tenants at the ground with cricket being played in the summer months.The capacity is around 3,000 including 300 in the grandstand. Initially the grandstand held around 600 but in recent years only half of it is accessible due to safety concerns.

The Grand Hotel is a hotel in Torquay, Devon. The Restaurant 1881 holds an AA Rosette for fine dining. The hotel has 132 bedrooms and 4 floors. The Grand Hotel first opened in Torquay in 1881, in response to the Great Western Railway’s expansion into the South West. In 1926, it was one of the first hotels in the UK to install central heating.During World War II, the hotel was requisitioned by the Royal Air Force, reopening as a hotel in 1946. Originally built with just 12 bedrooms, The Grand has been expanded several times to reach its present size of 132 en-suite bedrooms. Since 2001 it has been part of the Richardson Hotels group. On 11 February 2022, the hotel suffered a fire. Two people were treated for smoke inhalation.

Torquay railway station is on the Riviera Line and serves the seaside resort of Torquay, Devon, England. It is 219 miles 79 chains (219.99 miles, 354.04 km) measured from London Paddington. The station is operated by Great Western Railway. It is just a few yards from the sea at Torre Abbey Sands.

The Church of the Assumption of Our Lady is a Roman Catholic parish church in Torquay, Devon, England. It was built from 1853 to 1854 and designed by Joseph Hansom in the Gothic revival style. It is located on the junction of Abbey Road and Warren Road in the centre of the town. It is a Grade II listed building.

The Princess Theatre in Torquay, England is a 1,500 seat theatre that first opened its doors on Wednesday 7 June 1961. Top of the bill on opening night were Tommy Cooper and Morecambe & Wise. The theatre is a touring house and shows a variety of productions including opera, ballet, concerts, wrestling, ice shows & West End musicals and a Christmas pantomime. The theatre was built by Torbay Council as the main feature of the redevelopment of the Princess Gardens area on Torquay seafront. The theatre replaced a marquee which was erected annually to house light entertainment. Theatres in seaside resorts are traditionally known for their annual Summer Season consisting of light entertainment and family variety shows and Torquay is no exception. In the past the Princess Theatre has seen artistes such as Jim Davidson, Jethro and Jimmy Cricket making regular appearances. However summer 2002 saw a change from the traditional line-up to a 6-week run consisting of two West End musicals Grease and Chicago. Summer 2003 saw a similar occurrence, featuring The Blues Brothers, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Boogie Nights, with musicals proving to be a popular choice for the local people of Torbay as well as the holidaymakers. The Princess Theatre hosts musicals from two local groups; TOADS Stage Musical Company and TOPS.

Torquay Town Hall is a municipal building in Castle Circus in Torquay, Devon, England. The building, which is the meeting place of Torbay Council, is a Grade II listed building.

Sailing/Yachting is an Olympic sport starting from the Games of the 1st Olympiad (1896 Olympics in Athens, Greece). With the exception of 1904 and the canceled 1916 Summer Olympics, sailing has always been included on the Olympic schedule. The Sailing program of 1948 consisted of a total of five sailing classes (disciplines). For each class seven races were scheduled from 3–12 August 1948 Torquay/Torbay, on England's south coast.The sailing was done on the triangular type Olympic courses. The start was made in the center of a set of 8 numbered marks that were places in a circle. During the starting procedure the sequence of the marks was communicated to the sailors. By picking the mark that was most upwind the start could always be made upwind. This system is, at least in certain German lakes, still in use. Great Britain's last surviving Gold Medal Champion from the 1948 Summer Olympics, was David Bond who sailed for Great Britain in the Swallow Class.

Torquay ( tor-KEE) is a seaside town in Devon, England, part of the unitary authority area of Torbay. It lies 18 miles (29 km) south of the county town of Exeter and 28 miles (45 km) east-north-east of Plymouth, on the north of Tor Bay, adjoining the neighbouring town of Paignton on the west of the bay and across from the fishing port of Brixham. The town's economy, like Brixham's, was initially based upon fishing and agriculture, but in the early 19th century it began to develop into a fashionable seaside resort. Later, as the town's fame spread, it was popular with Victorian society. Renowned for its mild climate, the town earned the nickname the English Riviera. The writer Agatha Christie was born in the town and lived at Ashfield in Torquay during her early years. There is an "Agatha Christie Mile", a tour with plaques dedicated to her life and work.The poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning lived in the town from 1837 to 1841 on the recommendation of her doctor in an attempt to cure her of a disease which is thought likely to have been tuberculosis. Her former home now forms part of the Regina Hotel in Vaughan Parade.
