The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) is part of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Most of the ACES buildings are located on the South Quad. In terms of staff, ACES has 186 tenure-system faculty, 78 specialized faculty, 26 postdoctoral researchers, 493 academic professionals, 565 civil service staff, 323 assistants, and 956 hourly employees.

The Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology (IGB) is an interdisciplinary facility for genomics research at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The Institute was built in 2006 to centralize biotechnology research at the University of Illinois. Current research at the IGB explores the genomic bases of a wide range of phenomena, including the progression of cancer, the ecological impact of global change, tissue and organ growth, and the diversity of animal behavior.

The University of Illinois Astronomical Observatory, located at 901 S. Mathews Avenue in Urbana, Illinois, on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign, was built in 1896, and was designed by Charles A. Gunn. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 6, 1986, and on December 20, 1989, was designated a National Historic Landmark.Though none of the astronomical instruments are being used for professional research today, the observatory still contains a 12" Brashear refractor. The observatory played a key role in the development of astronomy as it was home to a key innovation in the area of astronomical photometry. The facility has been directed by such noted scientists as Joel Stebbins and Robert Horace Baker.Erected at the behest of the Illinois General Assembly, the University of Illinois Observatory became important in the development of astronomy due, in large part, to pioneering research by Dr. Stebbins, from 1907 to 1922. Joel Stebbins left the University of Illinois in 1922 but left behind a legacy of discovery that helped alter the face of modern astronomy. The building served the University of Illinois astronomy department from its opening until 1979, when the department moved into a new, larger building to house its growing staff.

Tina Weedon Smith Memorial Hall, located at 805 S. Mathews Avenue in Urbana, Illinois, is an historic building on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Smith Hall is located just off the main quad of campus and is just east of Foellinger Auditorium. The building was constructed in 1917-21 and was designed in the Beaux-Arts style by James M. White and George E. Wright. Smith Hall is known for being the first building on the campus to be completely funded by a private party donation. It was dedicated to Tina Weedon Smith by her husband, Captain Thomas J. Smith. Smith Hall is used for university lectures and music classes, as well as for speakers and performances. In 1996 Smith Memorial Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places in Illinois.

The Foellinger Auditorium, located at 709 S. Mathews Avenue in Urbana, Illinois on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, is a concert hall and the university's largest lecture hall. It is the southernmost building on the main quad. Its size and its dome make it one of the university's most recognizable buildings. The building was completed in 1907 and was designed by Clarence H. Blackall, a noted theatre designer, in the Beaux-Arts style. The building is essentially a circle with a 120-foot diameter covering 17,000 square feet, with a large vestibule on the north side, and 396 lights in its copper dome.Originally dedicated to the composer Edward MacDowell, the building was rededicated on April 26, 1985, in honor of Helene Foellinger, whose gift to the university enabled the facility to undergo a major renovation.

The Alpha Delta Pi Sorority House is a historic sorority house located at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in Urbana, Illinois. The house was built in 1926 for the university's Sigma chapter of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, which was chartered in 1912. The Berwyn architecture firm of William H. Clare and Alban E. Coen designed the house in the French Eclectic style. The style became popular in the 1920s thanks to returning soldiers from World War I and several studies of French cottages. Key features of the style present in the sorority house include its asymmetrical massing, steep slate hip roof with multiple dormers, limestone quoins and string course, bay windows, and arched corner entryway.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 8, 2000.

The Channing-Murray Foundation, resides in the former Unitarian Church at 1209 West Oregon Street in Urbana, Illinois. It is the Unitarian Universalist campus ministry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It includes a chapel and a vegetarian restaurant, Red Herring. The Foundation was established in 1954 after a merger between the Unitarian and Universalist churches in Urbana. At the time, it was also as a merger of the Murray Club of the Universalist Church in Urbana, and the Young People's Club or Unity Club of the Unitarian Church. The building was constructed in 1908 as the Unitarian ChurchThe Unitarian Church of Urbana building is architecturally significant, with design by Root & Siemens, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

The College of Media is a college at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, United States. The college name changed from College of Communications to the College of Media in 2008. The College of Media offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Journalism, Advertising, Media and Cinema Studies, and (jointly with the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences) Agricultural Communications. The college also partners with the Grainger College of Engineering to provide a "CS+" major in advertising which combines the academic study of advertising and computer science. Graduate degrees are offered with Master of Science degrees in Journalism and Advertising. A Doctor in Philosophy in Communications and Media is also available. The U of I College of Media is currently among the top three most selective colleges at the University of Illinois along with the UIUC College of Engineering and the UIUC College of Business, with the median 50% of incoming freshmen scoring between 27–32 on the ACT. The Department of Advertising—the first such academic department in the country—was established at the University of Illinois in 1959. The department was created by Charles Sandage, known as the "father of advertising education." Like virtually every other advertising program that rose in its shadow, it reflected the structure and functions of the modern advertising agency.

Louise Freer Hall, also known as the Women's Gymnasium, is a historic building on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Built in 1930, it was the last of the university's buildings designed by Charles A. Platt, who was responsible for the university's overall plan. Like most of Platt's designs for the university, the building has a Georgian Revival plan. The gymnasium originally provided expanded facilities for the women's physical education department, which had outgrown its space in the Woman's Building. The new gymnasium's facilities included two general-purpose spaces, several specialized facilities, and a physical education laboratory. Louise Freer, the women's physical education director for whom the building was later renamed, added a lounge area in 1932 to provide a social space in the building. The building is still used as a gymnasium and hosts intramural sporting events and physical education classes.Freer Hall has served as the home venue for the Illinois Fighting Illini women's swimming and diving team.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 5, 2003.

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is an academic research institution that is the flagship campus of the University of Illinois System. Since its founding in 1867, it has resided and expanded between the twin cities of Champaign and Urbana in the State of Illinois. Some portions are in Urbana Township.Several architects had been instrumental in the building of the campus. These include Ernest L. Stouffer, Nathan Clifford Ricker, Charles A. Platt, James M. White, Clarence Howard Blackall, Holabird & Roche, and W.C. Zimmerman. Various campus buildings have been placed on the National Register of Historic Places; these include the Mumford House, Louise Freer Hall, Evans Hall, Busey Hall, Main Library, Altgeld Hall, Round Barns, Kenney Gymnasium, Natural History Building, and Harker Hall. In addition, the Morrow Plots and the University of Illinois Observatory are designated as the National Historic Landmark. In celebration of the 2018 Illinois Bicentennial, the Main Quadrangle at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign was selected as one of the Illinois 200 Great Places by the American Institute of Architects Illinois component (AIA Illinois).

The Main Library is a historic library on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Urbana, Illinois. Built in 1924, the library was the third built for the school; it replaced Altgeld Hall, which had become too small for the university's collections. Architect Charles A. Platt designed the Georgian Revival building, one of several on the campus which he designed in the style. The building houses several area libraries, as well as the University Archives and the Rare Book & Manuscript Library. The Main Library is the symbolic face of the University Library, which has the second largest university library collection in the United States.The library was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 11, 2000.

The University Library at the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign is the network of libraries, including both physical and virtual library spaces, which serves the university's students, faculty, and staff, as well as scholars and researchers worldwide. The University Library continues to evolve to serve the needs of the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign campus.
