Vatne, Rogaland

Vatneleiren is a military base located in the municipality of Sandnes in Rogaland county, Norway. It was constructed just east of the Hanafjellet mountain just outside the city of Sandnes by the German Army during World War II, and has been used by the Norwegian Army since 1945. After the Cold War ended the number of soldiers stationed there gradually decreased, and the base is now mainly used by the Norwegian Home Guard. The Agder og Rogaland Heimevernsdistrikt 08 (Agder and Rogaland Home District 08) is based here, covering the two southernmost counties of Rogaland and Agder. The United Nations Logistics Officers Centre maintains a training centre in Vatneleiren, offering a logistics course.

Hana is a borough of the city of Sandnes in Rogaland county, Norway. The 36.1-square-kilometre (13.9 sq mi) borough is located just east of the city centre of Sandnes on the east side of the Gandsfjorden. It has a population (in 2016) of 8,196.Hanafjellet mountain is located in the northeastern part of the borough. Hana has a tourist attraction of a cave that was used by army during World War II. The local sports team is Hana IL. Hana Church is located in the borough also. The village of Vatne is in Hana as is the Vatneleiren military base.

Hana Church (Norwegian: Hana kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the large Sandnes municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Hana in the city of Sandnes in the far western part of the municipality. It sits along the eastern shore of the Gandsfjorden, just north of the city centre. It is the church for the Hana parish which is part of the Sandnes prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white and gray, concrete church was built in a octagonal design in 1997 using designs by the architect Kolbjørn Jensen from the architectural firm Signatur Arkitekter. The church seats about 415 people.

Lura is a borough of the city of Sandnes in the west part of the large municipality of Sandnes in Rogaland county, Norway. The 8-square-kilometre (3.1 sq mi) borough lies in the northwestern part of the city, just north of the city centre of Sandnes and just south of the city of Stavanger. The borough has a population (2016) of 8,605. Lura Church is the main church for the borough. Lura school is one of the primary schools there, with grades from 1–7.

Gandsfjorden or Gandafjorden is a fjord in Rogaland county, Norway. The 13-kilometre (8.1 mi) long Gandsfjorden is an arm off of the large Boknafjorden. It runs between the mainland and the Stavanger Peninsula in the western parts of the municipalities of Stavanger and Sandnes. The entire west and south side of the Gandsfjorden is highly developed and urban as this is the location of the cities of Stavanger and Sandnes, the third largest urban area in Norway. The east side of the fjord is far less developed and it has many mountains and peaks. In the outer parts of the fjord there are several islands including Uskjo, Hundvåg, Vassøy, and the Øyane islands of Stavanger.

Radio Narvik was a local radio station which covered the whole of Ofoten, including Narvik, Ankenes, Ballangen and Bjerkvik. The frequency was FM 103,5 and 150,5 in all areas. It was also possible to listen via internet radio. In 2005 Radio Narvik was bought by the newspaper Fremover, becoming part of Jærradiogruppen AS. In December 2008, the radio station was closed down due to lack of income.

Høyland Church (Norwegian: Høyland kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the large Sandnes municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Austrått in the city of Sandnes in the far western part of the municipality. It is one of the two churches for the Høyland parish which is part of the Sandnes prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1841 using designs by the architect Hans Linstow. The church seats about 650 people.

Høyland is a former municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The 170-square-kilometre (66 sq mi) municipality was located at the innermost end of the Gandsfjorden in the western part of the present-day municipality of Sandnes. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1965. The main church for the municipality was Høyland Church.

Rogaland College was a privately owned college situated about 40 kilometers (25 mi) south of Stavanger in Norway. In January 2006 the college moved to Sandnes 10 km south of Stavanger. Later the same year it merged with Diakonhjemmet University College in Oslo and became Diakonhjemmet University College Campus Rogaland, now it is part of the VID Specialized University. Originally the College was closely connected to the central institution of Nærlandsheimen, an institution for mentally retarded people, owned by the same private owner, Det Norske Diakonforbund (The Norwegian Association of Deacons). The land involved has now been sold to Nærlandparken A/S. To the two main bachelor programmes the College takes 90 new students every year. In addition, decentralized bachelor programme is offered in Haugesund, and the college offers some courses of continuing education. A total of nearly 400 students are being educated at any given time.

Jæren District Court (Norwegian: Jæren tingrett) was a district court in Rogaland county, Norway. The court was based at the Sandnes Courthouse located on Olav V's plass in the town of Sandnes. The court existed until 2021. It had jurisdiction over the west central part of the county which included the municipalities of Gjesdal, Hå, Klepp, Sandnes, and Time. Cases from this court could be appealed to Gulating Court of Appeal. The court was led by the chief judge (Sorenskriver) Anne Marie Aarrestad. This court employed a chief judge, ten other judges, and five prosecutors as well as other administrative assistants. Jæren District Court had seven courtrooms. The court was a court of first instance. Its judicial duties were mainly to settle criminal cases and to resolve civil litigation as well as bankruptcy. The administration and registration tasks of the court included death registration, issuing certain certificates, performing duties of a notary public, and officiating civil wedding ceremonies. Cases from this court were heard by a combination of professional judges and lay judges.

Trones og Sentrum is a borough of the city of Sandnes in the west part of the large municipality of Sandnes in Rogaland county, Norway. It encompasses the downtown part of the city, at the inner end of the Gandsfjorden. In 2016, this borough had a population of 8,250 and is 2.5 km2 (0.97 sq mi) in size. Sandnes Church is located in this borough.
