FC Stratford

Stratford Town Football Club is a football club representing the town of Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, England, but currently based in nearby Tiddington. They are currently members of the Southern League Premier Division Central and play at Knights Lane.

Tiddington is a village in Warwickshire, England, within the civil parish of Stratford-upon-Avon, about 1+1⁄2 miles (2 km) northeast of Stratford town centre. It is located south of the River Avon, and is connected to the historic town by Tiddington Road (B4086).The X15 and X18 buses provide transport between Stratford and Coventry, whilst the nearest railway station is at also at Stratford.

Hemingford House is a 19th-century house in Alveston near Stratford on Avon in Warwickshire, England. It is a Grade II listed building.

Alveston is a village in Warwickshire, England, within the civil parish of Stratford-upon-Avon, and around 2 miles (3.2 km) north-east of Stratford town centre. It is located to the south of, and within a bend of the River Avon.Hemingford House there is the youth hostel for Stratford-upon-Avon. The village was represented by Alveston F.C. between 1924 and 2017, when they folded. For most of its history, the club played in the Stratford & District League and the Midland Football Combination. Alveston was the home of the playwright J B Priestley (and his wife Jacquetta Hawkes), who lived at Kissing Tree House in the village, in his later years, until his death in 1984. The house was called Avonmore in the 1901 census and his secretary lived in Avonmore Cottage which is still there in Kissing Tree Lane.

The Clopton Bridge is a grade I listed masonry arch bridge with 14 pointed arches, located in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, which spans the River Avon, crossing at the place where the river was forded in Saxon times, and which gave the town its name. The bridge carries the A3400 road over the river. The bridge was built in around 1484, financed by Hugh Clopton of Clopton House, who later became Lord Mayor of London. It replaced a timber bridge which was first mentioned in 1235, and which had been described by John Leland as "but a poore Bridge of Timber, and no causey [causeway] to come to it", "very smaulle and ille, and at hygh waters very harde to passe by".Two arches were rebuilt in 1524. The bridge was again repaired in 1588 following flooding, and in 1642 after an arch had been destroyed to block the army of Oliver Cromwell. In 1696, money was raised to heighten the parapets, which were as low as four inches in places. The bridge was widened on the north side (upstream) in 1811, and a ten-sided toll-house tower added in 1814. A cast-iron footbridge was added to the north side in 1827.John Leland described the bridge as: a great and sumptuous Bridge upon Avon at the East Ende of the Towne, which hath 14 great Arches of Stone and long Causey made of Stone, low walled on each side, at the West Ende of the Bridge. The bridge is now a Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Stratford Butterfly Farm is a visitor attraction in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. A leafy tropical environment is simulated inside large greenhouses. There are numerous free flying butterflies, a few free flying birds, a pool containing fish, and running water. There are also insects and spiders living in glass displays.

Welcombe Hotel occupies a 19th-century former country mansion house near Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, which was previously known as Welcombe House. It is a Grade II* listed building.

The Tramway Bridge is a grade II listed pedestrian bridge crossing the River Avon at Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. The bridge was built in 1823, originally to carry a tramway track of the horse-drawn Stratford and Moreton Tramway. It was designed by John Urpeth Rastrick. It consists of eight elliptical arches, and is made from brick, with ashlar-coped parapets.The tramway had fallen into disuse by 1904, and the track was lifted in 1918. It has since then been used a public footbridge, and is an important element in the landscape around the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. The bridge gained grade II listing in 1951.The bridge is around 100 metres (330 ft) to the west of, and downstream from the much older Clopton Bridge which dates from the 15th century.Two further relics of the old tramway are located immediately to the north of the bridge: An old toll house known as Tramway House at the northern end of the bridge which is also grade II listed. And a restored wagon of the tramway, which is located and displayed about 60 metres (200 ft) to the north of the bridge, with an information board about the history of the tramway.

Stratford-upon-Avon Boat Club is a rowing club on the River Avon, based at The Clubhouse, Recreation Ground, Swan's Nest Lane, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire.

The Gower Monument is a grade II* listed monument in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. Erected in 1888, the monument's centrepiece is a seated bronze sculpture of the playwright and poet William Shakespeare. The monument is flanked by four detached bronze statues on plinths representing popular characters from Shakespeare's plays; Prince Hal, Lady Macbeth, Hamlet, and Falstaff.

Stratford-upon-Avon Cricket Ground is a cricket ground in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. The ground is next to the River Avon and also located next to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, on Swans Nest Lane. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1880, when Stratford-upon-Avon played a United South of England Eleven. Warwickshire first used the ground for first-class cricket in 1951 when they played Oxford University. First-class cricket next returned to the ground in 2004 when Warwickshire played Lancashire. The final first-class match held at the ground to date came in the Stratford Festival of Cricket in 2005, when Warwickshire played Hampshire; a Hampshire team which featured such names as Shane Warne and Kevin Pietersen. The ground has also held 2 List-A matches. The first came in the 2000 NatWest Trophy when the Warwickshire Cricket Board played Kent. The second List-A match came in 2005 when Warwickshire played Scotland in the 2005 totesport League. Additionally, the ground has hosted 3 Women's One Day Internationals. The first came in 2005 and saw England women play Australia women. The second came in 2007 and was between England women and New Zealand women. The final Women's ODI to date came in 2009 and was between England women and Australia women.It also holds several high profile fixtures throughout the year including County Second XI Cricket, Summer Solstice Cricket and in June 2010 it hosted a match featuring the Lord's Taverners. In local domestic cricket, the ground is the home venue of Stratford-upon-Avon Cricket Club who used to play in the Birmingham and District Premier League Division One and now play in the Warwickshire League Premier Division.

The Avon Ring is a canal ring which is located to the south west of Birmingham in England, and connects the major towns of Stratford-upon-Avon, Evesham, Tewkesbury, Worcester and the southern outskirts of Birmingham. It consists of stretches of four waterways, and is heavily locked, with a total of 129 locks on its route of 109 miles (175 km).
