Apsley was a 19th-century mill village in the county of Hertfordshire, England. It is a historic industrial site situated in a valley of the Chiltern Hills. It is positioned below the confluence of two permanent rivers, the Gade and Bulbourne. In an area of little surface water this was an obvious site for the location of water mills serving local agriculture and from the early 19th century became an important centre for papermaking. Today it is a suburb of the larger town of Hemel Hempstead. Recent (2011–) rapid building around the canal area has seen a large influx of London commuters, largely from the software and business communities. At the 2011 Census the village was included in the Dacorum Ward of Apsley and Corner Hall.

The River Bulbourne is a small river in Dacorum, Hertfordshire, England. The word bourne derives from the Anglo-Saxon word for a stream. It is an unnavigable tributary of the River Gade, which flows into the River Colne, which in turn is a tributary of the River Thames. The Bulbourne is an example of a chalk stream, which is a watercourse that flows from chalk-fed groundwater. Chalk streams are a very rare habitat globally, with more than 85% of all the 210 chalk streams in the world are found in England. The river is reduced in size, due to human activity, the main one being the building of the London to Birmingham Grand Union Canal through the narrow valley which takes most of the river's water.

Apsley railway station is in Apsley, on the southern outskirts of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England. One of two railway stations now serving the town, the other is Hemel Hempstead just up the line in Boxmoor. The station is 23 miles (37 km) north west of London Euston on the West Coast Main Line. Apsley is managed and train services are operated by London Northwestern Railway.

The Beacon is a 17-storey block of 272 flats planned to be built in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England. The developer Lumiere Developments claims that it will be the "world's most sustainable development". They claim that it will be carbon neutral, as it will generate all the energy it needs, and residents will never have to any energy bills. It will incorporate the UK's densest solar farm.In July 2018, the project was listed for sale by the receivers "after the debt held against it was called in by its bridge lender". It was due to have been completed in 2018. The "freehold development opportunity" is listed for sale at £8.5 million.

"The Magic Roundabout" in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England, is the familiar name given to the Plough Roundabout. The familiar name comes from the children's television programme, and is also used for a similar junction in Swindon and the M40 junction in Denham. The official name relates to a former public house, called The Plough Inn, which was between the junction of what is now Selden Hill and St Albans Road. It has also been known as the Moor End Roundabout as it is adjacent to the part of Boxmoor nearest the town. Before Hemel Hempstead became a new town the roads met in a simple junction which was then replaced by a standard roundabout.

Heath Park Halt was a railway station in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire in England, UK. It was the terminus for passenger services on the Nickey line, a 9-mile (14 km) branch line which ran from Harpenden into Hemel Hempstead town centre. Passenger services were withdrawn in 1947, and the station closed with the line in 1960. The station was located on an embankment above the junction of Station Road and Corner Hall Road. Today, nothing of the station or the embankment remains; the site it occupied lies directly opposite the former Kodak headquarters building.

Apsley Marina, also referred to as Apsley Lock Marina, is a basin used for mooring narrowboats on the east side of the Grand Union Canal at Apsley, Hertfordshire, England.

Felden is a semi-rural neighbourhood of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, situated to the south west of the town, close to the railway station. At the 2011 Census the population of the neighbourhood was included in the Dacorum Ward of Bovingdon, Flaunden and Chipperfield. It is separated from the main urban area by main roads, the rail line and Boxmoor. The boundary of Felden extends only from the diverging of Felden Lane, where the sign to the boys brigade is now situated. The 'Felden' sign was removed recently making it unclear that the Felden Hamlet does not extend below this point. Similarly Felden the Hamlet does not extend as far as Box Lane, which is also often claimed to be part of this band of housing. The ancient Box Lane runs uphill from Boxmoor to Bovingdon and passes through the west of Felden. On this lane stands Box Lane Chapel, a non-conformist chapel dating from the early 17th century. The chapel was officially founded in 1668, was re-built in 1690 and then altered in 1856 and again in 1876. Tradition has it that Oliver Cromwell once worshipped here. It is now a private house after being sold in 1969. Felden is home to the national headquarters of The Boys' Brigade UK & RoI, Felden Lodge.Felden Water Tower opened in 1910 is an octagonal brick tower with a fanciful fairytale appearance. It is 80 feet (24 m) tall and contains 50,600 imp gal (230,000 L) of water. Plans were made to redevelop the building in 2007.

The Church of St John the Evangelist is a Grade II listed church in Boxmoor, Hertfordshire, England. The church was consecrated in 1874 on land purchased from the Box Moor Trust.: 97 

Hemel Hempstead Hospital is an acute District General Hospital in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire operated by the West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

Woodhall Farm is a neighbourhood on the northern tip of Hemel Hempstead in the county of Hertfordshire. It was built on the former Brocks Fireworks site. Situated on the northern edge of Hemel Hempstead towards Redbourn, Woodhall Farm was built in the mid to late 1970s on the former Brock's Fireworks site with a mix of private and housing association stock. The builder was Fairview Estates and it has property ranging from 4 bedroom detached houses down to one bedroom low -rise flats. The area has a shopping centre with a Sainsbury's Supermarket, Newsagents, Fish & Chip shop and Dry Cleaners and a Chemist shop. It also has two infant and middle schools and a doctors surgery serving the local area. At the 2011 census the area was included in the Apsley and Corner Hall Ward of Dacorum Council. Woodhall Farm is home to approximately 5,661 people, and in keeping with the new towns' (see New towns in the United Kingdom) ethos, Woodhall was built with an emphasis to provide a neighbourhood shopping complex to serve the local community. The neighbourhood returns two councillors to Dacorum Borough Council.There are two primary schools servicing the area; Holtsmere End JMI and Brockswood Primary School. Some of the residents of Woodhall Farm were affected by the Buncefield Oil Depot explosion in 2005, causing structural and superficial damage to many of the local houses and buildings.
