City Gallery was a contemporary art gallery in Leicester, England. It closed 9 January 2010.The gallery exhibited arts and crafts including international work but also local work reflecting the city's cultural diversity. The gallery had links with local schools and colleges holding events and workshops for young people.

The Grand Hotel is a Grade II listed large hotel on Granby Street in the City centre of Leicester, England. It is now known as the Mercure Leicester The Grand Hotel. It was designed by Cecil Ogden and Amos Hall and built between 1897-98 by Orson Wright. The wedding-cake style top on the corner of Grandby Street and Belvoir Street was added by Amos Hall who also designed the Silver Arcade in the Edwardian period. The Kings Hall with its ornate gilt capped columns, and extravagant use of decorative marble was envisaged by Orson Wright and designed by Amos Hall. Located on the first floor it could cater for 350 people, part was at one time a cinema. The hotel has always been considered one of Leicester's most prestigious, but arguably its heyday was during Victorian times. The Hotel is in an area designated Heritage Action Zone, allowing the securing of a grant from Historic England in 2022 to return the hotel entrance and frontage shops to their original Victorian appearance.Today the hotel is rated as 4 star and is operated by Mercure Hotels, a division of the multinational hotel company Accor.

The Central Baptist Church, also known as the Charles Street Baptist Chapel, is a Baptist church on Charles Street in Leicester, Leicestershire, England, UK. It is affiliated with the Baptist Union of Great Britain. Leicester in the 19th century was known as the ‘Metropolis of Dissent’ with a large number of non-conformist chapels and churches. There have been numerous places of worship of various denominations, including the Baptists. Numerous chapels were built since the 17th century, many in the 19th century.The Charles Street Baptist Chapel was designed by William Flynt, a leading local architect, and constructed in 1830. The congregation of the Belvoir Street Chapel united with that of Charles Street in the 1940s and became known as the United Baptist Church. It was designated a Grade II listed building (1074071) in 1973. It was named the Central Baptist Church in 1983 and is the last surviving of several Baptist churches in Leicester City Centre.The building also houses the William Carey Museum, dedicated to William Carey, who was instrumental in the formation of the Baptist Missionary Society.

The Leicester Urban Area or Leicester Built Up Area (2011 onwards) is an urban agglomeration defined by the Office of National Statistics (ONS), centred on the City of Leicester in the English Midlands. With a population of 508,916 at the time of the 2011 census, the Built Up Area is the eleventh largest in England and thirteenth largest in the United Kingdom. It comprises Leicester itself and its suburbs, all of which are contiguous with, or situated in close proximity to, the city. As at 2011 the Leicester Urban Area was home to 51.8% of the total population of Leicestershire (2001: 48.5%). A 2017 quote from the Leicester City Council website states that "The Greater Leicester urban area is one of the fastest growing in the country, with a population of about 650,000, of which 350,000 live within the city council area".

Granby Street is a street in the city centre of Leicester, England. It stretches from the intersection of Gallowtree Gate, Horsefair Street and Helford Street to St Georges Way. The street contains small shops, offices, financial services, restaurants, pubs and fast food outlets. The street houses Leicester City Council and the Grand Hotel, built in 1898, the Turkey Cafe, and was once home to a temperance hall.From 1901 to 1949, electric lines of two-track trams ran along Granby Street towards the Clock Tower and the train station towards Stoneygate. Granby Street is one of the oldest shopping streets, and remains a tourist destination.

ISKCON Leicester is a Hindu temple located in central Leicester, in the East Midlands region of England. The temple is one of sixteen religious and cultural centers run by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in the United Kingdom. The temple follows the Krishnaism or Krishna-centric traditions of the Gaudiya Vaishnava denomination within Hinduism. Their philosophy is based on Sanskrit texts known as the Bhagavad Gita (The Song of God) and the Bhagavat Purana. Unlike broader Hinduism, the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition is monotheistic and worship Krishna as the highest form of God and the source of all the avatars of God.

City Hall, formerly Attenborough House and, before that, the Municipal Buildings, is a municipal building in Charles Street, Leicester, England. The structure, which currently accommodates the offices of Leicester City Council, is a locally listed building.

The Leicestershire Law Courts is a Crown Court venue, which deals with criminal cases, as well as a County Court venue, which deals with civil cases, in Wellington Street, Leicester, England.

The Turkey Cafe is a building with a flamboyant Modern Style (British Art Nouveau style) facade in Granby Street, Leicester, England. It was built in 1900 and is now a Grade II listed building, once again used as a café. The facade puns on two meanings of "turkey", with a vaguely Eastern exotic style of architecture and three large turkey birds on the facade, one sculpted on each side of the ground floor shopfront and another forming a large coloured panel of Royal Doulton tiles right at the top.

The Leicester Museum & Art Gallery (until 2020, New Walk Museum and Art Gallery) is a museum on New Walk in Leicester, England, not far from the city centre. It opened in 1849 as one of the first public museums in the United Kingdom. Leicester Museum & Art Gallery contains displays of science, history and art, both international and local. The original building was designed by Joseph Hansom, designer of the hansom cab. It has been expanded several times, most recently in 2011.

Colton Square Business Park is a business park in central Leicester, England. The park is a combination of the former Charles Street police station, a listed building, and new modern office buildings. Learndirect, Freeth Cartwright and Brewin Dolphin are among the park's occupiers.
