Benjamin Silverman Apartments

The Home for Destitute Jewish Children is a historic orphanage at 150-156 American Legion Highway in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. It is a three-story Classical Revival brick structure, designed by John A. Hasty and built in 1911. Local Jewish congregations formed the Ladies Helping Hand Auxiliary of the Home for Jewish Children in 1908, which raised the funds to build the orphanage as a replacement for a smaller facility in Roxbury. In 1934 the orphanage was moved to a new facility in Brighton, and this property was sold to another nonprofit which became known later as the Hecht Neighborhood House, which acted as a community center, providing a variety of meeting, classroom, and activity spaces to the area's Jewish community. Hecht House merged with the Young Men's Hebrew Association in 1959. The YMHA-Hecht House sold the property in 1970 to another local community group, the Lena Park Community Development Corporation, which continued to operate it has a community center.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

The buildings at 825–829 Blue Hill Avenue are historic apartment buildings in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The three-story Colonial Revival masonry structures were designed by Samuel Levy and built in 1924 for Herman Barron, during a period in which Boston's Jewish population migrated to the area in large numbers from downtown Boston. The buildings occupy a triangular lot at the corner of Blue Hill Avenue and Calder Street. Both street-facing facades feature alternating projecting and recessed bays, and are laid in seven-course Flemish bond brick. At the corner the building has two single-bay facades, one of which houses an entrance. These faces are ornamented with corner quoining in concrete. The main entrances of the buildings are on Blue Hill Avenue, sheltered by gabled porticos supported by Tuscan columns.The buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Harambee Park is a park located in Dorchester and Mattapan, Boston. Originally known as Franklin Field, it was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted in order to give Bostonians a place to play sports, as well as prevent them from doing it at nearby Franklin Park. During its operation, it has hosted baseball, cricket, and a speedway. Today, the park operates as Harambee Park, and part of the grounds have been turned into a housing project.

The Cartoof & Sherman Apartments are a group of three historic apartment houses at 31-35 Wales Street in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Built in 1925, they are well-preserved examples of Colonial Revival architecture, built during a period of growth fueled by the city's expanding streetcar network. The apartments were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.

The Charlotte Street-Esmond Street Historic District is a historic district encompassing a residential subdivision in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Centered on Charlotte and Esmond Streets, the area was developed in the early 20th century following the arrival of electrified street cars on nearby Blue Hill Avenue. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2022.

Franklin Park, a partially wooded 527-acre (2.13 km2) parkland in the Jamaica Plain, Roxbury, and Dorchester neighborhoods of Boston, Massachusetts, is maintained by the City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department. It is Boston's biggest park and the site of Franklin Park Zoo. It was designated a Boston Landmark by the Boston Landmarks Commission in August 1980.

The Esmond Street Historic District is a historic district encompassing a small residential area in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Centered on a stretch of Esmond Street, the area was developed between 1884 and 1928, and includes a fine sample of Colonial Revival and Queen Anne architecture. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.

The Nathan Warnick Apartments are a historic multifamily residential building at 57 Street in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. It was built about 1929, during an influx of Jewish immigrants to the area, and is a good example of Colonial Revival architecture in brick and stone. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.

The Nazing Court Apartments are an historic site at 224-236 Seaver Street and 1-8 Nazing Court in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. It consists of two large Colonial Revival apartment blocks designed by Boston architect Sumner Schein and built in 1929. One houses 53 units, the other 98; they stand on a parcel overlooking Franklin Park. They were built to provide housing for Roxbury's burgeoning working-class Jewish community, and are a rare residential work of Schein, who did mostly commercial work.The apartments were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Boston Pre-Release Center is a minimum security correctional facility located on Canterbury Street in Roslindale, Massachusetts. The current facility opened in 2003 and it is under the jurisdiction of the Massachusetts Department of Correction. As of January 6, 2020 there was 90 inmates in general population beds.

Boston State Hospital is a historic mental hospital located in Mattapan and Dorchester, Massachusetts. The court case Rogers v. Okin, which increases patient consent rights, was filed by a class action lawsuit against the hospital. The hospital was closed in 1979, and has been completely demolished and the site is in the process of being redeveloped as part of Mass Audubon's Boston Nature Center and Wildlife Sanctuary.

Boston Nature Center in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts is a 67-acre (27 ha) wildlife refuge of the Massachusetts Audubon Society that opened in 2002 with the dedication of a new building, the George Robert White Environmental Conservation Center. "On the former grounds of the Boston State Hospital, the Boston Nature Center is a community-based urban sanctuary. Trails and boardwalks traverse meadows and wetlands, home to over 150 species of birds, 40 species of butterflies, and more than 350 species of plants. Year-round programs help foster an appreciation for nature and the environment."The center's 2020 Strategic Plan sets out numerous goals in three broad areas: Connect People and Nature for the Benefit of Both, Protect and Care for Land and Habitats of Significance, and Address the Challenges of Climate Change. A portion of the Nature Center's land has been used since 1969 as the Clark Cooper Community Garden. The garden, which is managed by the Boston Food Forest Coalition, makes 300 individual plots available to community members.
