Bradford Dale (Yorkshire)

The University of Bradford is a public research university located in the city of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. A plate glass university, it received its royal charter in 1966, making it the 40th university to be created in Britain, but can trace its origins back to the establishment of the industrial West Yorkshire town's Mechanics Institute in 1832. The student population includes 7,480 undergraduate and 2,290 postgraduate students. Mature students make up around a third of the undergraduate community. A total of 22% of students are foreign and come from over 110 countries. There were 14,406 applications to the university through UCAS in 2010, of which 3,421 were accepted.It was the first British university to establish a Department of Peace Studies in 1973, which is currently the world's largest university centre for the study of peace and conflict.

Longlands is a historic district within Bradford City Centre, West Yorkshire, England. It lies on the north west edge of the City Centre with boundaries roughly the equivalent of Sunbridge Road to the west, Grattan Road to the south, Westgate to the east and City Road to the north. The district is often mistakenly referred to as the "Chain Street Estate" after one of the local residential streets or falsely amalgamated with the adjacent Goitside district which lies further down the hill towards the Bradford Beck.

Bradford College is a further and higher education college in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, with approximately 25,000 students. The college offers a range of full and part-time courses from introductory level through to postgraduate level and caters for a variety of students, including school leavers, adults wanting to return to education, degree-level students and those seeking professional qualifications.

The Bradford Burns Unit is a burns research facility set up at University of Bradford following the Bradford fire disaster on 11 May 1985. The fire disaster at Valley Parade killed 56 people and injured more than 250.

St Patrick's Church is a Roman Catholic church in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. It was built from 1852 to 1853 and designed by George Goldie. It is situated on the corner of Sedgfield Terrace and Westgate in the city centre. To the south and west of the church is Rebecca Street and Vaughan Street. The church is the oldest Roman Catholic church still in use in the city and is a Grade II listed building.

The New Beehive Inn (for a period in the 1980s known as The Bradfordian) is a former pub in Bradford, England. It was built by Bradford Corporation (the local authority) in 1901 to replace an existing public house of the same name that they had purchased in 1889 and demolished to widen a road. The corporation intended to run the pub itself but instead let it out and sold it in 1926. It has since been run by a number of brewery companies and individuals. The pub contained many features dating to its construction and a significant refurbishment in 1936 and was described by the Campaign for Real Ale as "one of the country's very best historic pub interiors". The pub closed in 2022 and was sold that year. The bar was removed and the original windows were replaced with uPVC. The structure was granted protection as a grade II listed building by Historic England on 13 July 2022. The owners have subsequently applied to convert the pub into offices.

The Colour Experience (formerly known as The Colour Museum) is a visitor attraction and museum in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England.The museum covers the science of light and colour. It is run by the Society of Dyers and Colourists as an educational charity. Educational workshops are provided for school groups.

High Point is a high rise former commercial building in Bradford, in West Yorkshire, England. It is a prominent example of Brutalist architecture. Designed by John Brunton Partnership of Bradford, it was completed in 1972 to serve as the headquarters of the Yorkshire Building Society but went unused for decades.

Reconciliation (originally named Reunion) is a sculpture by Josefina de Vasconcellos. Originally created in 1977 and entitled Reunion, it depicted a man and woman embracing each other ]. In May 1998 it was presented to University of Bradford as a memorial to the University's first Vice-Chancellor Professor Ted Edwards. De Vasconcellos said: "The sculpture was originally conceived in the aftermath of the War. Europe was in shock, people were stunned. I read in a newspaper about a woman who crossed Europe on foot to find her husband, and I was so moved that I made the sculpture. Then I thought that it wasn't only about the reunion of two people but hopefully a reunion of nations which had been fighting." Later it was taken for repairs to the sculptor's workshop, and renamed Reconciliation upon the request of the Peace Studies Department of the University. It was unveiled for the second time, under the new name, on de Vasconcellos 90th birthday, October 26, 1994. In 1995 (to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II) bronze casts of this sculpture (as Reconciliation) were placed in the ruins of Coventry Cathedral and in the Hiroshima Peace Park in Japan. An additional cast can be found in the Stormont Estate in Belfast. To mark the opening of the rebuilt German Reichstag (parliament building) in 1999, another cast was placed as part of the Berlin Wall memorial.

The 1 in 12 Club refers to both a members' club and the building in which it is based, in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. Owned and run by its membership as a collective based upon anarchist principles, its activities include social and political campaigning—most visibly as a hub for the city's May Day activities—and use of the building as a self-managed social centre and host for performing arts. In the 1980s it was one of the main locations for the UK crust and anarcho-punk scene, and in the 1990s played host to much of the country's straight edge metalcore scene.

Great Horton Road was a cricket ground in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England on which Yorkshire County Cricket Club held first class matches from 1863 to 1874. The ground hosted seven County Championship and one other first class match during that time. That match saw Yorkshire pitted against a United South of England XI with the home team winning by 26 runs despite having been bowled out for 64 in their own first innings when Allen Hill and George Ulyett bowled the visitors out for 39 when chasing just 65 to win. In the last first class match played at the venue, a Roses Match in 1874, William McIntyre took 8 for 35 for Lancashire in their innings victory. The ground was sold for development and is currently covered by housing on Pemberton Drive and the eastern halves of Sherborne Road and Merton Road.

The Oastler Shopping Centre, formerly known as the John Street Market and commonly known as just the "Oastler Centre" to locals, is a market located on Westgate in the city centre of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England.The centre contains 176 stalls comprising a retail area of 25,538² ft, with an additional 23 external shops and 27 storerooms. The cafes and stalls within the centre are various food, clothing and craft shops with some of the cafes and stalls having been in business since the 1960s.The original market site was built on 30 June 1930, then called the John Street Market, and was an open air market, compared to the indoor market centre it is today. The original outdoor open-air market was renovated to an indoor market in the early 2000s to make economic improvements to the upper side of the city centre and was named for the abolitionist Richard Oastler.As part of the Bradford's regeneration projects in line with the successful UK City of Culture 2025 bid, the Oastler Centre will be demolished in late 2023 to make way for the new Darley Street Market.
