Loyce E. Harpe Park, formerly known as Carter Road Park, is located in Polk County, Florida . The park includes four softball fields, nine South Lakeland Babe Ruth League baseball fields, and six soccer fields. In addition, there is a mountain bicycle trail, hiking trail, disc golf course and fishing. A dog park, DiOGi Park, opened on July 14, 2007. The park is host to various special events produced by Polk County Leisure Services throughout the year, with the Haunted Halloween Hayride and Happenings (end of October) as the largest event featured. The park is named after Loyce E. Harpe, who was the county's first parks and recreation director. Mr. Harpe served as a parks and recreation professional during most of his 31 years in public service. The park was officially dedicated and renamed on June 24, 2006, after Mr. Harpe. Loyce Harpe was born on February 13, 1944, and died on April 5, 2005.

Mulberry is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area, with parts of unincorporated Lakeland on its northern boundary. The population was 3,952 at the 2020 census. Mulberry is home to the 334-acre Alafia River Reserve, and it is the headquarters to Badcock Home Furniture.

Mulberry High School (also referred to as Mulberry Senior High School) is a four-year public high school located in Mulberry, Florida, serving the city and surrounding areas.

The Mulberry Phosphate Museum is located in Mulberry in Polk County, Florida. Located in the city's original railroad depot, the museum was established in 1986. Exhibitions include fossils, memorabilia and exhibits about the phosphate mining industry. In 2013 it added a recently discovered 1880s-vintage phosphate locomotive.

Lakeland Highlands is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 11,056 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is an affluent residential community located south of the Lakeland city limits, and north of the Mulberry city limits. Lakeland Highlands neighbors Medulla, and together the two communities make up much of what is known as South Lakeland (unincorporated). The area is addressed to Lakeland, with zip codes 33807, 33812, and 33813. Its schools include, George W. Jenkins Senior High School (named after the founder of Publix Supermarkets, based in Lakeland), Scott Lake Elementary, Lakeland Highlands Middle School and Valleyview Elementary. This area has been experiencing high growth for over two decades with new subdivisions being developed every year. Considered part of the Tampa Bay Area, it is becoming a bedroom community of Tampa.

Medulla is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in western Polk County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. Medulla is an affluent residential community located south of the Lakeland city limits, and north of the Mulberry city limits. Medulla neighbors Lakeland Highlands, and together the two communities make up much of what is known as south (unincorporated) Lakeland. The population was 8,892 at the 2010 census. The area is addressed to Lakeland, with zip codes 33811 and 33813.

Willow Oak is a census-designated place (CDP) in western Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 4,917 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Lakeside Village is an open-air shopping mall located on the southern side of Lakeland, Florida, in the United States. Located off the Polk Parkway at Harden Boulevard, it is classified as a "regional mall" by the International Council of Shopping Centers, and it draws shoppers from much of the Lakeland metropolitan area. It is also a mixed-use complex, with office space available and three hotels on site. Since opening, the shopping center has caused businesses off of Florida Avenue to either close or relocate due to competition.

The Alafia River Reserve is a recreation area and water conservation area managed by the Southwest Florida Water Management District in Mulberry, Florida, Polk County, Florida. It covers 334 acres (1.35 km2) and is located at 4872 Indian Oak Drive in Mulberry, Florida. It was created to preserve wetlands and includes hiking trails and a picnic area.

Nichols is an unincorporated community in Polk County, Florida, United States, located 11.4 miles (18.3 km) south-southwest of Lakeland. Nichols has a post office with ZIP code 33863. The community is located on a CSX Rail spur on Polk County Road 676, less than one mile south of Florida State Road 60.

The Aircraft Operations Center (AOC) is the main base for the nine aircraft of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the United States government, including the NOAA Hurricane Hunters. It is the home of the he NOAA Aircraft Operations Center houses multiple light aircraft, and three Hurricane Hunters aircraft. This base plays a large role every hurricane season, supporting NOAA flights in and around tropical cyclones for research and forecasting. The AOC has been located at Lakeland Linder International Airport in Lakeland, Florida, since June 2017 and is under the NOAA Office of Marine and Aviation Operations. The AOC resided at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, from January 1993 to June 2017.
