Hamburg-Altona station

The Stuhlmannbrunnen (Stuhlmann Fountain) is a fountain in Altona, Hamburg, Germany. It was inaugurated on pentecoast of 1900. It is located on the Platz der Republik (Square of the Republic) in Altona.

Altona (German: [ˈaltonaː] (listen)) is the westernmost urban borough (Bezirk) of the German city state of Hamburg, on the right bank of the Elbe river. From 1640 to 1864 Altona was under the administration of the Danish monarchy. Altona was an independent borough until 1937. In 2016 the population was 270,263.

Altonaer Museum is an art museum in the suburb of Altona in Hamburg, Germany. The museum association was established in 1863, when Altona was still part of Denmark. The museum has a collection of over 300 000 objects connected to the cultural history of Northern Germany.

The Altonaer Theater (before Altona's annexation to Hamburg, the Altonaer Stadttheater, i.e., Altona City Theater) is a theater in Hamburg, Germany. The private theater adapts literary works for the stage, from classics and international bestsellers to young German literature and more. Past productions include Anna Karenina, Steppenwolf, Measuring the World, and The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared. It presents its own productions, guest performances, and special events. Axel Schneider has been the theater manager since 1995.

Gymnasium Allee is a school in form of a German "Gymnasium" in Hamburg-Altona-Nord. Founded in 1876 as a school for higher girls education, it is being used for both boys and girls since 1972. During the school year 2012/2013 794 pupils were educated by 75 teachers.

The Palmaille (French pronunciation: ​[palˈmɑj]) is a famous avenue of Altona, Hamburg. It is considered one of northern Europe's most complete examples of a Neoclassical urban ensemble. First developed in the 1630s as a lane for the then popular palle-maille, in the course of the 18th century the Palmaille became Altona's most sought-after address. At the time, the town of Altona was part of the Duchy of Holstein being in personal union with the Kingdom of Denmark, and Danish monarchs promoted it as a fierce economic rival to Hamburg. The wealthy merchant families of Altona had their stately palaces built by Christian Frederik Hansen (1756–1845), then Director of the Royal Danish Academy of Arts and Royal Danish master-builder for the Duchy of Holstein; later also by his nephew Johann Matthias Hansen (1786–1825). Some of the buildings were hit during World War II, but could be rebuilt according to Hansen's original drawings.

The Fabrik (English: "Factory") is a cultural centre in Hamburg, Germany. It occupies a former machine parts factory in Ottensen, in the Altona district. The building dates from the Gründerzeit (around 1840), and consists of a large, nave-like central hall with wooden girders, overlooked by running galleries on the two upper floors. An old crane still hangs over the entrance as a memorial to the building's industrial past. The Fabrik was founded in 1971 by the painter Horst Dietrich and the architect Friedhelm Zeuner. Dietrich, who died in 2014, was the director until 2012. He was awarded the 1993 Max Brauer Prize, given by the Alfred Toepfer Foundation. Zeuner received the senate of Hamburg's architecture prize for the renovation, The Fabrik burned down in 1977, but was rebuilt as before in 1979. Today the Fabrik hosts activities for young people, together with teaching events, lectures, debates, exhibitions, theatre productions and concerts. Many prominent musicians have played there, including B.B. King, Miles Davis, Meat Loaf and Nirvana.The Fabrik is funded partly by its own takings and partly by the city of Hamburg.

Theater für Kinder or Allee-Theater is a theatre in Hamburg, Germany. Located in the Max-Brauer-Allee 76 in Hamburg-Altona, it was founded in 1968 as a privately run children's theater by Uwe Deeken. Since 1996 the Hamburg Chamber Opera has performed there under the same management, The theater has a hall with a stage and auditorium, which is used by children's theater and chamber opera alike. The hall has a capacity of 226 spectators on chairs upholstered in red and gold. At the side is a glass-enclosed courtyard room with a bar and restaurant.
