Flax Pond (Brewster, Massachusetts)

Cliff Pond is a 204-acre (830,000 m2) kettle pond in Brewster, Massachusetts. It is the largest pond in Nickerson State Park and is quite popular with swimmers and fishermen in summer months. Cliff Pond was totally reclaimed in 1960 and, like many kettle ponds has been treated for alkalinity over the years. The Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife stocks the pond in spring and fall with various trout species. It also has smallmouth bass and various other species. In 1992, a world record American eel (8 pounds, 9 ounces, 46 inches long, 10.5 inches in girth) was caught.The pond has had repeated problems with bluegreen algae blooms causing closures over the years and was treated in spring 2016 with aluminum sulfate. Water transparency has improved and the treatment is expected to last twenty years.

Nickerson State Park is a state-owned, public recreation area of more than 1,900 acres (770 ha) located on Cape Cod in Brewster, Massachusetts. The park's sandy soil and scrub pines surround many kettle ponds which are dependent on groundwater and precipitation. The largest of these are Cliff Pond (the largest at 0.7 miles (1.1 km) across), Flax Pond, Little Cliff Pond, and Higgins Pond. Ruth Pond, Keeler's Pond, Eel Pond, and Triangle Pond provide additional water habitats.

It is located in Nickerson State Park.The Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife stocks the pond in spring with various trout species. Access to the pond is difficult for vehicles, but the pond offers anglers good wading.

WOCN-FM (104.7 FM, "Ocean 104.7") is a soft adult contemporary radio station licensed to Orleans, Massachusetts. The station is licensed to Sandab Communications (doing business as Cape Cod Broadcasting) and operated locally. WOCN-FM is a sister station to WQRC, WFCC-FM, and WKPE-FM. WOCN-FM is frequently one of the Cape's most-listened-to radio stations, especially among adults 45 and older. Artists that are played on WOCN-FM include the Beatles, Carly Simon, James Taylor, Norah Jones, Fleetwood Mac and others. WOCN-FM continues to serve the Cape Cod community with hourly weather forecasts, news updates and community information. Although previously playing more soft AC, it has shifted to play more current artists (e.g. Mariah Carey, Sara Bareilles, The Band Perry, Sheryl Crow, Cher).

The Nickerson Mansion is a historic house in Brewster, Massachusetts. The large mansion was built in 1907 by Addie Nickerson and her son Samuel on the foundation of an 1890 mansion that was built by Addie's late father-in-law, Samuel Mayo Nickerson, for his son Roland's family (Addie was married to Roland Crosby Nickerson) to use as a summer home. The building's interior was lavishly appointed with Italian marble and hand-carved woodwork. The Nickersons owned the property until 1945, when it was purchased by the Missionaries of La Salette, who used it as a seminary. It is now one of the centerpieces of the Ocean Edge Resort under the name "The Mansion at Ocean Edge". (The portion now serving as a boutique hotel was inducted into Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, in 2022.) The mansion was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Namskaket (also Naamskeket, Naemschatet, Namskeket, Naumskachett) was a Nauset village on or near Namskaket Creek in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, near the modern border between Brewster and Orleans. Native Americans sold the site to English colonists in 1644. It is now a village in Orleans.

The Sea Pines School of Charm and Personality for Young Women was a coed boarding school located in Brewster, Massachusetts from 1907 to 1972. After its closure, it was purchased in 1977 and became known as the Old Sea Pines Inn.

Coast Guard Motor Lifeboat CG-36500 is a historic, 36-foot lifeboat that is berthed at Rock Harbor in Orleans, Massachusetts. Built in 1946, it is notable for its involvement in the 1952 SS Pendleton rescue, one of the most daring such events recorded in the history of the United States Coast Guard. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, and now serves as a museum boat.

Rock Harbor is a man-made harbor on Cape Cod Bay located on the border between Orleans, Massachusetts, and Eastham, Massachusetts. A small commercial and charter fishing fleet docks in the harbor. The harbor is an artificial harbor and is dredged to maintain a depth of 4 feet at low tide.Battle of Rock Harbor (also known as the Battle of Orleans) Rock Harbor was the site of a skirmish during the War of 1812 between British soldiers and local militia December 19, 1814.During the occupation of the British off the coast of Cape Cod, a naval ship by the name of HMS Newscastle ran aground in the Billingsgate Shoal of Wellfleet on December 12, 1814. Equipment was thrown overboard to lighten the load so the ship could get off the shoal. The equipment floated down Cape Cod Bay to Rock Harbor where citizens destroyed some and harbored other items. On December 13 the British sent a vessel to Orleans in an attempt to retrieve the equipment. Finding the sloop Camel that had evaded the British blockade, full of provisions for the militia. The Camel was seized and a prisoner was charged with piloting the boat, but the American ran the boat aground in Wellfleet, where the provisions were re-captured and British soldiers taken prison and sent to Boston. On December 19 the British returned to Orleans and set fire to two boats in Rock Harbor which were extinguished by citizens. A schooner in the harbor, the Betsey, was captured by the British and an American prisoner charged with piloting it to Provincetown. The prisoner ran the seized boat aground at Yarmouth Beach, where the boat was recaptured, and British militia were imprisoned and sent to Salem.
