St. Mary's Orthodox Syrian Cathedral, Piravom

St. Mary's Simhasana Church (Vadayaparambu simhasana Palli), Vadayaparambu is one of Kerala's prominent Syriac Orthodox churches. The church was established in 1975 by Dr. Geevarghese Mor Gregorios (Perumpally Thirumeni). The church is headed by the "Patriarch of Antioch" and functions under the spiritual supremacy of the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and all the East and the Regional church headquarters is at Puthencuriz, Kochi.

Pazhoor Padippura, is situated 33 km towards the southeast of Kochi, near Piravom, Kerala. It is an astrology center linked to Pazhoor Perumthrikkovil temple. The temple is believed to be nearly 1,800 years old. A unique phenomenon observed here is that the Muvattupuzha river flowing west from east changes direction on reaching the temple. It retraces its path and flows east for a certain distance before diverting again to north and west. Had the river not changed its course, the temple would have been washed away.

The club Navachetana Kala Samidhi is situated here, and promotes the cultural as well as sports activities in Thirumarayoor and its surrounding areas. The Vadam Vali (Tug of War) is conducted (yearly) by Navachethana Kala Samidhi and is considered as the best entertainment programme in Edakkattuvayal Panchayat area . Another club here is "The Royals Mangidapilly".
