Shelly Beach (Manly)

Shelly Battery was a coastal battery located at Shelly Head, Manly, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The battery was constructed in 1942 during the Second World War and consisted of 1 x QF 12 pounder gun and a command post.

Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve is a marine protected area located in Manly, a suburb of Sydney, New South Wales. The marine park is located on the northern side of the North Head headland and covers an area of 17 hectares. Adjacent to the northwest is the sandy Manly Beach, a popular tourist destination with five to eight million visitors per year. To the east of the marine protected area there is also the sandy beach Shelly Beach and further east of the marine park the Shelly Beach Headland Intertidal Protected Area. A little further south is the Sydney Harbour National Park. The aquatic reserve is a “no-take” zone, which means that no fishing may be carried out or marine animals and plants may be removed or damaged in any other way. This also includes dead organisms. Leisure activities such as swimming and diving, however, are permitted. According to the World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA), the marine park is IUCN Category II. It is managed by the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries.

St Patrick's Seminary, Manly is a heritage-listed former residence of the Archbishop of Sydney and Roman Catholic Church seminary at 151 Darley Road, Manly, Northern Beaches Council, New South Wales, Australia. The property was also known as St Patrick's Estate , St. Patricks Estate, St. Patrick's Seminary or College, Cardinal's Palace, Archbishop's Residence, St Pats, St Patricks and Saint Paul's Catholic College. It was designed by Sheerin & Hennessy, Hennessy & Hennessy, Scott Green & Scott and Sydney G Hirst & Kennedy and built from 1885 to 1889 by William Farley (Residence/Palace), W. H. Jennings (College/Seminary). The property is owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney. The property was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 21 January 2011.The seminary operated from 1889 until its relocation in 1995 to Strathfield where the teaching institute has become distinct from the seminary. The Catholic Institute of Sydney is now the ecclesiastical theology faculty. The Seminary of the Good Shepherd is the house of formation. Since 1996, the property has been home to the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS). The estate also houses a high school, residential housing, the old convent, and a children's hospice.

Fairy Bower is a beach in the Manly area of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Fairy Bower is an affluent area, located close to Shelly Beach (Manly) and North Head. The International School of Management Sydney (ICMS) and the Bower Surf Spot are located here. A scenic walk links Manly Beach to Fairy Bower and Shelly Beach. Jan Warhurst, a local diver, is famed for discovering a number of new species of catfish in the marine park. Dusky Whaler sharks are seen regularly by divers in this area.

Bear Cottage is a children’s hospice located in Manly, Australia and is part of the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network. It provides long-term care to children, including nursing care, music, play and art therapy, and food, cleaning, and counseling services. Bear Cottage is designed to be like a home away from home and as far removed from a hospital environment as possible. Staff do not wear uniforms, and no medical procedures are carried out in the bedrooms, which are designed to be like a normal bedroom.It opened on St Patrick's Day 17 March 2001 after $10 million had been raised from the community to build it. In 2017 its operational costs were approximately $3.7 million per year, with funding coming from the government, clubs and private sector. It is one of only three children’s hospices in Australia. Since 2016 the Cottage has been managed by Narelle Martin. Professor Les White is the Patron.

Manly Hospital provided medical services to the Northern Beaches area of Sydney, Australia before the transfer of services to Northern Beaches Hospital. The Northern Sydney Local Health District managed Manly Hospital.

The Sydney Harbour National Park is an Australian national park comprising parts of Port Jackson, Sydney and its foreshores and various islands. The 392-hectare (970-acre) national park lies in New South Wales and was created progressively, from 1975.The national park protects the landforms of Bradleys Head, Clark Island, Dobroyd Head, Fort Denison, Georges Head, Goat Island, Middle Head, Nielsen Park, Rodd Island, Shark Island, Sydney Heads including the Quarantine Station at North Head and The Gap bluff at South Head. The national park also protects the waterway between North Head and Dobroyd Head, defined as the North Sydney Harbour Aquatic Reserve. Parts of the national park lie outside the harbour and face the Tasman Sea.The national park is managed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.

St Paul's Catholic College (formerly named Christian Brothers College, Manly) is a diocesan Catholic secondary day school for boys, located in Manly, on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The college was founded by the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1929, and since 1982 has been conducted by lay staff appointed by the Diocese of Broken Bay. As a regional secondary school, St Paul's provides for the boys of the Catholic parishes of Manly Freshwater (including Curl Curl, Fairlight, Freshwater, Manly), North Harbour (including Allambie, Balgowlah, Clontarf, Manly Vale, Seaforth), and Warringah (including Beacon Hill, Brookvale, Cromer, Dee Why, and Narraweena).

Little Manly Beach is situated on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, within Little Manly Cove, which is separated from the larger Manly Cove by Manly Point. In 1809 surveyor James Meehan drew up two plots of land in the Manly area, one for Richard Chears and one for Gilbert Baker. Richard Chears' land encompassed what we know today as Little Manly. On Meehan’s field book drawing, ‘Little Manly’ is clearly written.In 1879 tenders were called for the construction of two new baths in the Manly Municipality, one for women in Manly Cove and one for men at the western end of Little Manly Cove. The baths were opened in May 1880. Over the years a constant process of renewal of the baths structure has taken place due to storm damage and natural depreciation, though there has continuously been an enclosure since the original construction.There is a concrete boat ramp on the eastern end of the beach, one of the few concrete ramps on the northern shore of Port Jackson. Behind the beach are public toilets and a kiosk. The beach is a popular place for families because of the presence of the baths and a grassed picnic area, as well as a children's playground.

The Manly Substation is a heritage-listed electrical substation located at 34a-36 Whistler Street, Manly, Northern Beaches Council, New South Wales, Australia. It was built in 1945. It is also known as #15009 Manly 33Kv Zone/Residential Unit. The property is owned by Ausgrid, a privately owned energy utility company. The substation was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

Manly Yacht Club (MYC) is a sailing club in the suburb of Manly on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia.

The Manly Town Hall is a landmark civic building in Manly, a suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The building is located at the junction of The Corso, Gilbert Street and Belgrave Street, opposite Manly ferry wharf. Designed in the Inter-war Stripped Classical style with Egyptian Revival style columns by Samuel Reginald Maisey, it replaced the previous town hall on the site, a Victorian Mansion built in 1879. The Town Hall was the seat of Manly Council from 1937 to 2016, when it became the site of the first meeting of the new Northern Beaches Council.
