Durbanville High School

Durbanville is a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa, part of the greater Cape Town metropolitan area. Durbanville is a semi-rural residential suburb on the north-eastern outskirts of the metropolis and is surrounded by farms producing wine and wheat.

Durbanville College was an institution for higher education and registered under South African law. It was situated in Durbanville, South Africa and affiliated with the University of South Africa. It was a private institution. The college closed down in January 2022.

The Dutch Reformed Church in Durbanville is a church building of the Dutch Reformed Church in Durbanville, South Africa, built in 1825 in the Cape Dutch style. The village was then still called Pompoenkraal. A separate bell tower has been built near the church with a bell visible from the outside. The church was enlarged in 1891. The building was restored and rededicated in 1957. The community of Durbanville has grown rapidly, especially in the 20th century.

Durbanville Nature Reserve is a 6-hectare (15-acre) piece of protected land, located next to the Durbanville Racecourse in the Western Cape, South Africa.This small triangular nature reserve is located on the border between two critically endangered vegetation types: Swartland Shale Renosterveld and Cape Flats Sand Fynbos. It was proclaimed in 1966 after Aristea lugens, a rare species of plant, was discovered here. The invasive alien vegetation was then cleared and the indigenous landscape was restored. The park is now home to around 130 species of plant - three of which exist only in Cape Town and ten of which are threatened with extinction. It is also a natural habitat for wild animals such as the angulate tortoise, the small grey mongoose and the endangered Cape rain frog.

Uitkamp Wetland Nature Reserve is a 32-hectare (79-acre) wetland reserve located in Durbanville in the Western Cape province of South Africa .A wetland valley that was proclaimed a nature reserve in 2001, this park lies within a region of Swartland Shale Renosterveld. It protects over 140 species of plants, many of which are very rare. More common Pink Watsonias and Arum Lilies cover the wetland in the spring, along with Restios, orchids, sundews and other colourful flowers. A major threat to the wetlands is from the invasive alien plants Port Jackson (Acacia saligna) and Kikuyu grass (Pennisetum clandestinum).

Stellenberg High School is a public dual-medium (Afrikaans and English), co-educational high school located in Stellenberg, Bellville in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is one of the top and prestigious schools in the Western Cape. The high school was established in 1986.

In 1930 the owners of the land (the company “Brick and Clay") started mining activities on a 260 hectare piece of land situated in Bellville, Western Cape , South Africa. In 1936 a Jail was built next to the Quarry. Today very little of the Quarry and Jail is left and it was replaced with modern city infrastructure.

The Techtonic Velodrome is a 250-meter, multi-purpose indoor velodrome located in Bellville, South Africa. The venue has served as Greater Cape Town's main concert venue and has now been replaced by the Cape Town Stadium. Its maximum capacity for cycling competition would range from 5 to 8,000.

Brackenfell is a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa at the gateway to the Cape Winelands. Organisationally and administratively it is included in the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality as a Northern Suburb and is about 30 kilometres (19 mi) east of Cape Town City Bowl. In Brackenfell a variety of property situated on the slopes of the Bottelary Hills can be found.The Bracken Nature Reserve, situated in the Ruwari suburban area, was once a quarry site and was later declared a nature reserve after some negotiations between the Cape Town City Council and the Stellenbosch Divisional Council. Brackenfell offers schools, shopping malls and medical services, and many different sporting facilities.

Brackenfell High School (Afrikaans: Hoërskool Brackenfell) is a public, co-educational high school in Brackenfell, Western Cape, South Africa. It was established on 26 January 1976 on a 1-acre (0.40 ha) plot of land donated by Janet Brink, the widow of Andries Brink.

Tygerberg Nature Reserve is a 300-hectare (740-acre) nature reserve on the Tygerberg Hills in the northern suburbs of Cape Town, South Africa. This nature reserve one of the few surviving pockets of the highly threatened Swartland Shale Renosterveld vegetation type. The 300 ha reserve has an exceptional number of species. There are nearly five hundred different plant species here, twelve of which are threatened with extinction and eight of which exist only in Cape Town. Three of the plant species of Tygerberg exist only within the boundaries of the reserve itself. In addition, there are over a hundred bird species and a variety of wild mammals, reptiles and amphibians. The Plattekloof Dam is located just west of the hills, and is being restored to a natural wetland. The park hosts the Kristo Pienaar Environmental Education Centre with its library and resource centre. This is a popular venue for school excursions and education programmes.The name Tygerberg (“Tiger Mountain”) comes from the characteristic spots, or “heuweltjies” which exist in Shale Renosterveld. They can be seen from a distance, covering these hills, and early settlers thus named the hills after an animal that they mistakenly believed had spots on its skin.
