Jędrzejów County

Gmina Jędrzejów is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Jędrzejów County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in south-central Poland. Its seat is the town of Jędrzejów, which lies approximately 36 kilometres (22 mi) south-west of the regional capital Kielce. The gmina covers an area of 227.52 square kilometres (87.8 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 29,178 (out of which the population of Jędrzejów amounts to 16,577, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 12,601).

Jędrzejów (Polish: [jɛnˈdʐɛjuf] ; Yiddish: יענדזשעוו, romanized: Yendzshev, Latin: Andreiow) is a town in southern Poland, located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. It lies approximately 35 kilometres (22 miles) southwest of Kielce. It is the capital of Jędrzejów County. It has 16,139 inhabitants (2011).

Jędrzejów Abbey is a Cistercian abbey founded in the 12th century in Poland. The town of Jędrzejów grew around it. Blessed Polish bishop of Kraków and historian, Wincenty Kadłubek, lived in this monastery for 5 years and was buried there. In the 15th century, the sculptor Veit Stoss (Polish: Wit Stwosz) worked there.

Przypkowscy Clock Museum (Polish: Państwowe Muzeum im. Przypkowskich w Jędrzejowie) is a clock museum in Jędrzejów, Poland. The museum was opened in 1909 to display Feliks Przypkowski's private collection of sundials and optical astronomical instruments, and was run by the Przypkowski family until 1962, when it became a state operated museum.
