Fraulautern is a district of Saarlouis in the Saarland region of Germany. In 1936, the village of Fraulautern was incorporated into the city of Saarlouis. It is also the source of the alternative name for Saarlouis, Saarlautern. Fraulautern has approximately 7000 inhabitants.

Fraulautern Abbey (German: Abtei Fraulautern; Latin: Abbatia in Lutrea) was a community of Augustinian canonesses of the nobility, founded in the 12th century; it was suppressed in the 1790s during the French Revolution.

In 2020, the town had a population of 34,409. Saarlouis is located on the river Saar. It was built as a fortress in 1680 and was named after Louis XIV of France.

Diefflen (pronounced: Dieflen, in the local, Moselle-Franconian dialect Dejfeln) is a district of Dillingen/Saar in the district of Saarlouis (Saarland) and has about 4700 inhabitants. It is located on the lower Prims, a tributary of the Saar. Since its foundation in the High Middle Ages Diefflen was historically linked to the villages of the former "Hochgericht Nalbacher Tal". This association was broken when Diefflen was incorporated into the city of Dillingen/Saar in 1969.

The Bist (archaic German: Bießt, French: Bisten) is a river in France and in Germany, and a 26.3-kilometre-long (16.3 mi) left tributary of the Saar. It is 26.3 km (16.3 mi) long, of which 15.8 km (9.8 mi) within France and on the French-German border.The Bist begins near the French village of Boucheporn, Lorraine and flows northeastward to Creutzwald. From there it follows the Franco-German border northward 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) to Überherrn, then flows eastward to Werbeln (a district of Wadgassen) and northward to join the Saar immediately north of the Autobahn 620 bridge in Wadgassen, Saarland.
