Queen's Lane

New College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1379 by William of Wykeham in conjunction with Winchester College as its feeder school, New College was one of the first colleges in the university to admit and tutor undergraduate students. The college is in the centre of Oxford, between Holywell Street and New College Lane (known for Oxford's Bridge of Sighs). Its sister college is King's College, Cambridge. The choir of New College has recorded over one hundred albums, and has won two Gramophone Awards.

The Queen's College is a constituent college of the University of Oxford, England. The college was founded in 1341 by Robert de Eglesfield in honour of Philippa of Hainault. It is distinguished by its predominantly neoclassical architecture. In 2018, the college had an endowment of £291 million, making it the fourth-wealthiest college (after Christ Church, St. John's, and All Souls).

Holywell Street is a street in central Oxford, England. It runs east–west with Broad Street to the west and Longwall Street to the east. About halfway along, Mansfield Road adjoins to the north. New College dominates the south side of the street. At the western end of the street is the King's Arms public house on the north corner, a favourite with Oxford University students, and the Indian Institute (now the home of The James Martin 21st Century School) to the south. On the north side is the Holywell Music Room, an historic chamber music venue built in 1742. Opposite a small cul-de-sac, Bath Place, leads via a small winding footpath to the historic Turf Tavern public house close to the old city wall. The wall remains, in places, and follows the course of Holywell Street to the south, partly through New College. The buildings on the corner of Holywell Street and Mansfield Road, along with the Alternative Tuck Shop, are owned by Harris Manchester College, and are used as student accommodation.

St Peter-in-the-East is a 12th-century church on Queen's Lane, north of the High Street in central Oxford, England. It is now deconsecrated and houses the college library of St Edmund Hall. The churchyard to the north is laid out as a garden and contains a seated bronze statue depicting St Edmund as an impoverished student.

Queen's Lane Coffee House is a historic coffee house established by Cirques Jobson, a Levantine Jew from Syria. Dating back to 1654, it claims to be the oldest continually serving coffee house in Europe, but it has only been on the present site (Oxford, England) since 1970. The building in which it operates is a Grade II listed building.In 2009, it rebranded itself as "QL". There is a second, smaller, QL Café. Another Café QL (now called Café Bonjour) in Headington was once owned by the same family but was sold years ago. The café has been owned by the same family since 1983.

St Edmund Hall (sometimes known as The Hall or informally as Teddy Hall) is a constituent college of the University of Oxford. The college claims to be "the oldest surviving academic society to house and educate undergraduates in any university" and was the last surviving medieval academic hall at the university.The college is on Queen's Lane and the High Street, in central Oxford. After more than seven centuries as a men-only college, it became coeducational in 1979. As of 2019, the college had a financial endowment of more than £65 million.Alumni of St Edmund Hall include diplomats Robert Macaire and Mark Sedwill, politicians Richard Onslow, 1st Baron Onslow, Keir Starmer and Mel Stride as well as journalists Samira Ahmed, (1986, English) and Anna Botting, (1986, Geography). The elected Honorary Fellows: Faith Wainwright, MBE FREng (1980, Engineering) and the Hon Justice Elizabeth Hollingworth (1984, BCL). In 2019, St Edmund Hall launched its 10 year strategy to improve access to higher education, increase the number of student scholarships, bursaries and academic fellowships at the Hall and improve its estate facilities and sustainability credentials. This was followed by the launch of HALLmarks, a £50 million campaign in 2022 to fundraise for a new student accommodation building at Norham Gardens, North Oxford as well as student support and fellowship endowment projects.

The Logic Lane covered bridge is a small covered bridge at the High Street end of Logic Lane, within University College, Oxford, England.The bridge was designed by the Oxford architect Harry Wilkinson Moore (1850–1915) and was completed in 1904. It links the older Radcliffe Quad buildings with the newer Durham Buildings, built in 1903. Oxford City Council was against the scheme, since Logic Lane was officially a bridleway, but the court judged in favour of the College—so the bridge was built.

The Radcliffe Quadrangle (or Rad Quad as it is known to students of the College) is the second quadrangle of University College, Oxford, England. The buildings have been Grade I listed since 1954.The quadrangle was started in 1716 and finished in 1719 with money bequeathed to the College by John Radcliffe, a former student of the college tutored by Obadiah Walker and doctor to the King. Oxford's main hospital and other University buildings are also named after him. There is a statue of John Radcliffe by Francis Bird on the gate tower of the quad. His coat of arms is also displayed.The architectural style of the quad matches that of the earlier main quadrangle immediately to the west, although this was by then incredibly old-fashioned for almost a century. It is not a "quadrangle" in the same way as the main quadrangle, because it only has buildings on three sides; the fourth side is bounded by a high stone wall separating the garden of the Master's Lodgings to the south. To the east is Logic Lane, a small cobbled lane through the College, connecting the High Street at the front of the College and Merton Street at the rear. A covered bridge built in 1903 connects the Radcliffe Quad buildings internally with other buildings on the High Street owned by the College to the east. The Radcliffe Quad is where University College's matriculation photograph is taken at the start of each academic year. The quad has also been used for celebrations after undergraduate examinations.

The Ruskin School of Art is an art school at the University of Oxford, England. It is part of Oxford's Humanities Division.

Jowett Walk is a road in central Oxford, England. It connects Mansfield Road to the west with St Cross Road to the east, running parallel with and north of Holywell Street. The road was formerly named Love Lane and used to continue north to South Parks Road on what is now Mansfield Road. It is now named after the well-known Victorian Master of Balliol College, Benjamin Jowett (1817–1893). Much of the land in the area is owned by Balliol College, including the playing fields to the north and student housing.Merton College has a graduate annexe to the south of Jowett Walk at the eastern end. The Oxford Department of International Development is on the corner with Mansfield Road.

The Michael Pilch Studio is a theatre in Oxford, England. It opened in 1997, has a capacity of 50–90 people depending on the configuration, and is located on Jowett Walk in central Oxford, England.The theatre was built as part of a phased development of buildings by Balliol College, mainly for student accommodation, on Jowett Walk during 1996–2004 (Phase 1 completed September 1996, Phase 2 completed July 2004), undertaken by MJP Architects.As a "black box" studio, the theatre is suitable for in-the-round staging and other non-standard layouts. It run by Balliol College Drama Society and is owned by Balliol College. The theatre is named after Michael Pilch (1927–2021), who was the benefactor who enabled the theatre to be built. The theatre stages a variety of productions, including Shakespeare. The theatre was renovated in 2016.

The High Street in Oxford, England, known locally as the High, runs between Carfax, generally seen as the centre of the city, and Magdalen Bridge to the east.
