Redlynch is a village and former manor in the civil parish of Bruton, in the South Somerset district of Somerset, England. The 18th-century church and a folly named The Towers are of architectural interest.

Cogley Wood (grid reference ST703345) is a 60.7 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Bruton in Somerset, notified in 1987. The name is believed to be from cock ley meaning a clearing with birds.The wood is situated on the eastern slopes of the upper reaches of the Brue valley, with several of its tributaries having their sources in the wood which is made up of two extensive areas of species-rich, semi-natural ancient woodland with an exceptionally rich butterfly fauna. The trees include ash (Fraxinus excelsior), pedunculate oak (Quercus robur), wych elm (Ulmus glabra) and wild cherry (Prunus avium). Beneath them are dog's mercury (Mercurialis perennis) and common bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta). Other plants of interest include greater butterfly-orchid (Platanthera chlorantha) and meadow saffron (Colchicum autumnale).36 species of resident breeding butterflies have been recorded including marsh fritillary (Euphydryas aurinia), high brown fritillary (Argynnis cydippe), brown hairstreak (Thecla betulae), Duke of Burgundy (Hamearis lucina) and purple emperor (Apatura iris).

Bruton Railway Cutting is a 1.7 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest at Bruton in Somerset, notified in 1971. The geology exposed in the area near Bruton station (which opened in 1856 on what is now the Heart of Wessex Line) is from the Bathonian epoch of the Middle Jurassic. The citation for the site describes it as one of the best places in England to demonstrate the stratigraphic distinction of ammonites in the subcontractus zone and the morrisi zone.

Bruton railway station serves a largely rural area in the county of Somerset in England. The station is situated in the market town of Bruton. The station is on the Bristol to Weymouth line some 32.75 miles (53 km) south of Bath Spa. Trains on the Reading to Taunton line pass through the station but do not normally stop. Services are operated by Great Western Railway (who also manage the station) and South Western Railway.

The Bruton Dovecote is a limestone tower that was built between the 15th and 17th century in Bruton in the English county of Somerset. The structure was once used as a dovecote, and may have been a watchtower or prospect tower prior to this. It is a Grade II* listed building and scheduled monument.It has been associated with Bruton Abbey and the Berkley family who owned the estate after the dissolution. It is known that the conversion to house pigeons and doves took place around 1780. It was acquired by the National Trust in 1915 and they have managed the site since then undertaking restoration work.

Shepton Montague Railway Cutting (grid reference ST686316) is a 1.61 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest at Shepton Montague in Somerset, notified in 1992. It, which was part of the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway, the section of Fuller's Earth Rock (Middle Jurassic) in England. The succession ranges from the upper part of the Lower Fuller's Earth Clay up to the Rugitela Beds.

Bruton Abbey in Bruton, Somerset was founded as a house of Augustinian canons in about 1127, and became an abbey in 1511, shortly before its dissolution in 1539. It was endowed with manors, churches and other properties in the area and also in Normandy in France.

The Church of St Mary in Bruton, Somerset, England was largely built in the 14th century. Like many Somerset churches, it has a very fine tower; less usually it has a second one as well. Simon Jenkins has called Bruton's tower "Somerset architecture at its most powerful." It has been designated a Grade I listed building.

King's Bruton is an independent fully co-educational secondary boarding and day school in the English public school tradition located in Bruton, Somerset, England. It was founded in 1519 by Richard FitzJames, and received royal foundation status around 30 years later in the reign of Edward VI. It is a member school of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference. Girls have attended the school's sixth form since the 1960s before King's became fully co-educational in the late 1990s. It has six houses: Wellesley, Priory and Arion for girls, with New, Blackford and Lyon making up the boys' houses. In September 1999, the Hobhouse Science centre was opened with a fully equipped observatory. The school has a purpose-built theatre, sports hall and fitness suite and sports surfaces for rugby, netball, tennis and cricket as well as two all-weather astro-turfs for hockey. The Basil Wright Building was opened in 2009 and houses the Headmaster's, Bursar's and Registrar's offices.King's School Bruton once owned a copy of Magna Carta dating from 1297, which it sold to the Australian Government in 1952 for £12,500.Old House was the original school building, later New House was built as an extension for school rooms and Old House was the headmaster's house. The Memorial Hall was built in the 1920s to commemorate the members of the school who died in World War I. Blackford and Lyon were built and were funded by beneficiaries such as Lord Blackford and James Lyon. On 28 March 2019, to mark the school's quincentenary, King's hosted Queen Elizabeth II during a wider Royal visit to the West Country. During the visit the Queen opened a new music school named in her honour.

Godminster Lane Quarry and Railway Cutting (grid reference ST682345) is a 0.8 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest at Pitcombe in Somerset, notified in 1971. This is an important locality for study of the Inferior Oolite limestones, of Middle Jurassic age, laid down in a warm shallow sea some 175 million years ago. The site is unique in that the limestones seen here are much more closely comparable with rocks of similar age found in the Cotswolds than with rock sequences seen elsewhere in Somerset. However, the rocks do contain the rich assemblage of fossil ammonites which are typical of the north Dorset/south Somerset area and it is this feature, combined with the unusual limestone sequence, which makes this site unique. It is also important as a reference site for three sub-divisions (zones) of the Inferior Oolite — the laeviscula, discites and concavum Zones.

Bruton ( BROO-tən) is a market town, electoral ward, and civil parish in Somerset, England, on the River Brue and the A359 between Frome and Yeovil. It is 7 miles (11 km) south-east of Shepton Mallet, just south of Snakelake Hill and Coombe Hill, 10 miles (16 km) north-west of Gillingham and 12 miles (19 km) south-west of Frome. The town and ward have a population of 2,907. The parish includes the hamlets of Wyke Champflower and Redlynch. Bruton has a museum of items from the Jurassic era onwards. It includes a table used by the author John Steinbeck on a six-month stay. The Brue is flood-prone – in 1768 it wrecked a stone bridge. The 242.8 mm of rain that fell on 28 June 1917 left a river watermark on a pub wall 20 feet above the mean. In 1984 a protective dam was built upstream.

Sexey's Hospital in Bruton, Somerset, England was built around 1630 as almshouses. The West Wing and chapel have been designated as a Grade I listed building. The East Wing and gateway are grade II listed.Hugh Sexey (1556–1619), was a local landowner. By the age of 43 he had been appointed Royal auditor of the Exchequer to King James I. After his death the trustees of his will established Sexey's Hospital in Bruton as an institution to care for the elderly. A trust of 1638 set out the role of the hospital in caring for 12 poor men and women. This later rose to 18 people, and it provided a school for 12 boys, and staff comprised a governor, a schoolmaster, and a nurse. By 1812 this had risen to 20; 10 men and 10 women and in 1902 there were 15 residents. In 1997 there were 22 residents with vacancies for a further 2.
