North East High School (NEHS) is a public high school in North East, Maryland on 300 Irishtown Road. It is a part of Cecil County Public Schools.

Charlestown Historic District is a national historic district at Charlestown, Cecil County, Maryland, United States. It consists of a 150-acre (0.61 km2) portion of the town containing all known existing 18th century features. There are 14 houses known to have been constructed during that century and its largest structures were the inns and hotels which served the popular Charlestown Fair in the colonial period.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church is an historic Episcopal church building located at 315 South Main Street in North East, Cecil County, Maryland. Built in 1742 of red brick in a rectangular shape to replace an earlier wooden church building on the site, it is the second parish church building for North Elk Parish, later known as St. Mary Anne's Parish, which had been established in 1706 by the General Assembly of the Province of Maryland. Originally dedicated to St. Mary, the parish added Anne to its name in thanks for a bequest it received from the estate of Anne, Queen of Great Britain, who died in 1714. Its bell tower was added in 1904. St. Mary Anne's is still an active parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Easton. The Rev. John Schaeffer is the current rector.

Indian Queen Tavern and Black's Store is a historic hotel and store complex located at Charlestown, Cecil County, Maryland, USA. It consists of two mid-18th century structures: Black's Store, originally the Red Lyon Inn, and the Indian Queen Tavern, later called Hotel. The two taverns and their remaining outbuildings form a court. The outbuildings include a log kitchen with a loft and a two-story smokehouse.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

North East is a town in Cecil County, Maryland, United States. It is located between Philadelphia and Baltimore. The population was 3,572 at the 2010 census. The Turkey Point Light Station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. The Gilpin's Falls Covered Bridge was listed in 2008.

The North East River is a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Entirely tidal, it extends for about 5.0 miles (8.0 km) from the town of North East southwest past Charlestown to the main body of Chesapeake Bay between Carpenter's Point and Red Point. The river is fed by North East Creek and its tributaries, which reach as far north as just east of Nottingham, Pennsylvania. The Northeast River is entirely within Cecil County, Maryland, though its watershed extends into Chester County, Pennsylvania. Its watershed area in MD (excluding water) is 63 square miles (160 km2), with 6% impervious surface in 1994. On the 1612 John Smith map, it was referred to as Gunter's Harbour.

Elk Neck State Forest belongs to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and is managed by the Maryland Forest Service, and is adjacent to the town of North East, in Cecil County. It is often confused with Elk Neck State Park, which lies further south, near the end of the same peninsula. The main entrance to the state forest (with a parking lot and office) runs north off of Irishtown Road. Other entrances, blocked by gates (to deter vehicles), are located on Huminski Road and Starkey Lane. Visitors to the state forest who are not using the shooting-ranges can park for free. Users of the shooting-ranges need to acquire permits under a self-service honor-system. This nature area, consisting of 3,300 acres (13 km2), provides hiking trails, hunting opportunities (during legally established hunting seasons), and ranges for archery and for handgun- and rifle-shooting. A portion of the Mason-Dixon Trail runs through this state forest. Although there is a reduced-size area-map of the state forest online, a larger, more detailed map (including Elk Neck State Park) can be purchased from the Maryland Dept. of Natural Resources. Elk Neck State Forest is part of the Northeastern coastal forests ecoregion. It contains wooded flatland, rolling hills, and marshlands. Plum Creek and Plum Creek Pond form an important water-feature in the south-central area. The primary, wide, gravel roads within the state forest—labeled as Trails 1, 2, and 3 -- allow limited vehicle traffic (starting from the main entrance, where Trail 1 begins). These forest roads are flanked by thick woods (mixed deciduous trees and evergreens) and provide entrances (for hikers) into some forest-trails. There are small parking areas along these roads, as well as several marked small meadows with blind hunting structures, including one for handicapped hunters. The northwestern corner of Trail 1, in particular, is the location of the shooting ranges.

Red Point is an unincorporated community located just off Maryland Route 272 south of North East, Maryland, United States. It is near Elk Neck State Park, where the North East River enters Chesapeake Bay. The neighborhood is a mix of seasonal and full-time residents. In the past several years the residents have worked to improve the area, paving and patching streets, renovating existing homes, and even tearing down some older cottages and replacing them with newly constructed homes. Several members of the community have been investing time, effort and money into trying to decrease the erosion of the banks into the Chesapeake Bay. Situated on the bay with its private beach, boat ramp and pier provides frequent sightings of Bald Eagles, Osprey and herons feeding on the fish. The community association sponsors an annual Fourth of July picnic complete with a pig roast and pot luck lunch. Several residents work together over the winter to construct a quilt that is raffled off at the picnic to raise money for community projects. Many neighborhood vehicles display the oval "RP" (Red Point) stickers as a symbol of pride in the community. The preferred method of transportation during warm weather months is golf carts, especially for carrying people and gear to the beach. Carpenter's Point is an unincorporated community in Cecil County, Maryland, United States. Carpenter Point was the site of the first permanent settlement in Cecil County, established on July 20, 1658, when William Carpenter patented 400 acres (1.6 km2) of land called Anna Catherine Neck, abutting Bay Head Creek, now Principio Creek; Simon Carpenter was assigned this tract of land in 1662. On June 7, 1674, a court was held at the house of Francis Wright at Carpenter’s Point. A painting by the noted painter James Peale titled “The Ramsay-Polk Family at Carpenter’s Point, Cecil County, Maryland” shows the landing in the background in the 18th century.

Elk Neck Peninsula is in Cecil County, Maryland, between the towns of Elkton and North East, Maryland. Native American and colonial travelers often canoed or sailed up the Chesapeake Bay to Elkton, where the Elk River became unnavigable, and then walked or took some form of surface transportation to the Delaware Bay watershed, since this was the shortest surface crossing. Native Americans of the area, including the Nanticoke and Lenni Lenape, hunted and fished, as well as established semi-permanent camps. Elk Neck State Park includes the southern tip of the peninsula, bounded by the North East River, Elk River, as well as the Chesapeake Bay. Maryland Route 272 ends at the point of the peninsula, with the famous Turkey Point Light. Much of the peninsula's land is legally protected from development, either as part of the state park or as part of Elk Neck State Forest. Deep forests, bluffs, beaches and marshlands are the primary natural features of the park's landscape.
