The Adele H. Stamp Student Union, commonly referred to as "Stamp", is the student activity center on the campus of the University of Maryland, College Park. First constructed in 1954 (with additions in 1962 and 1971), the building was renamed in 1983 for Adele Hagner Stamp, who served as the university's dean of women from 1920 to 1960. Stamp houses nearly all of the university's student organizations, and is considered the "center of campus life," receiving more than 19,000 visitors daily.

The Jones-Hill House is an indoor collegiate sports training complex located on 14.5 acres (5.9 ha) of land on the campus of the University of Maryland in College Park, a suburb north of Washington, D.C. Jones-Hill House is situated in the center of the campus, adjacent to Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium, near Stamp Student Union and McKeldin Library. The building was constructed between 1952 and 1955 at a cost of $3.3 million ($36 million in 2024 ) and served for nearly 50 years as the home court of the Maryland Terrapins men's and women's basketball teams. A multi-phase, $196 million renovation commenced in 2015 to transform the capacity 14,956-seat basketball arena into a 356,000-square-foot (33,100 m2) sports and academic complex that includes an indoor practice facility and operations center for the university's football program, a sports science and sports medical research center, and an incubator for entrepreneurs. The facility was formerly named the William P. Cole Jr. Student Activities Building, commonly known as Cole Field House. In April 2021, the facility was renamed in honor of Billy Jones and Darryl Hill, the first Black men to integrate basketball and football at Maryland, respectively.The Jones-Hill House, the indoor practice facility and operations center for the Maryland Terrapins football team (Big Ten Conference), opened in 2017. Though the facility is primarily used for football, it was also used for training by the school's men's and women's lacrosse teams The second phase of renovation, which began in late-2017, includes the construction of a 196,000-square-foot (18,200 m2) addition to the complex. This new structure will also include a space for the school’s Academy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Center for Sports Medicine, Health and Human Performance, a sports medicine education, investigation and clinical care center operated in partnership with the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

The Maryland Center for Fundamental Physics (MCFP) is a research institute at the University of Maryland, College Park focused on theoretical physics.

The Philip Merrill College of Journalism is a journalism school located at the University of Maryland, College Park. The college was founded in 1947 and was named after newspaper editor Philip Merrill in 2001. The school has about 550 undergraduates and 70 graduate students enrolled. The school awards B.A., M.A., M.J. and Ph.D. degrees in journalism. Undergraduates can focus on broadcast or multi-platform journalism. A Washington Post recruiter has said the college is one of the nation's best journalism schools.The university's student newspaper, The Diamondback, is not affiliated with the school. However, the school provides opportunities for students to publish work with the Capital News Service (Maryland), a wire service serving print, broadcast and online media in the Washington, D.C. region and Maryland Newsline, a live half-hour three-day-per-week news broadcast (during the fall and spring semesters) that reaches more than 500,000 households in the greater Washington metropolitan area. The newscast is now streamed via YouTube in HD.The three college-sponsored student news outlets—the nightly television show, online news magazine, and weekly radio show—have all been named the best in the nation by the Society of Professional Journalists in the last few years.The school is home to the National Association of Black Journalists, the largest organization of journalists of color in the U.S. From 1987 to 2015, the university published American Journalism Review, a magazine covering print, television, radio and online media; in 2013 AJR became an online-only publication, and in 2015, the college announced that it was terminating the journal.In 2018, the Scripps Howard Foundation established the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism.

Shipley Field at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium is a baseball stadium in College Park, Maryland. It has served as the home field of the Maryland Terrapins baseball team at the University of Maryland since 1954. Shipley Field was formerly the home of the College Park Bombers of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League, and was also used as a baseball venue by the Bowie Baysox during the 1994 season. The major league Washington Senators held a practice at Shipley Field on April 8, 1968, when their Opening Day game was postponed in the aftermath of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.The stadium holds 2,500 people and opened on April 3, 1954. It was dedicated as Shipley Field to former Maryland baseball coach Burton Shipley on March 28, 1956. On May 8, 2010, it was re-dedicated as Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium.In 2004, a new artificial turf replaced an older turf installation in the stadium's infield, and improvements were made to the under field drainage system. After the 2015 season, the artificial turf infield and bermuda grass outfield were replaced with a FieldTurf surface; new drainage was installed underneath; a home team closed off bullpen was created in left field foul territory; both bullpens received FieldTurf surfaces; and the outfield wall was moved father out.

The University of Maryland Art Gallery is the flagship art museum on the campus of the University of Maryland, College Park. The Gallery is a member of the American Alliance of Museums, Association of Academic Museums and Galleries, and the National Art Education Association.

The University of Maryland, College Park (University of Maryland, UMD, or simply Maryland) is a public land-grant research university in College Park, Maryland. Founded in 1856, UMD is the flagship institution of the University System of Maryland. It is also the largest university in both the state and the Washington metropolitan area. Its 12 schools and colleges offer over 200 degree-granting programs, including 113 undergraduate majors, 107 master's programs, and 83 doctoral programs. UMD is a member of the Association of American Universities and competes in intercollegiate athletics as a member of the Big Ten Conference. It is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity" and has been labeled a "Public Ivy".In 2016, the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Maryland, Baltimore formalized their strategic partnership after their collaboration aimed to create more innovative medical, scientific, and educational programs, as well as greater research grants and joint faculty appointments than either campus has been able to accomplish on its own. According to the National Science Foundation, the university spent a combined $1.14 billion on research and development in 2021, ranking it 17th among American universities. As of 2021, the operating budget of the University of Maryland is approximately $2.2 billion.

The Tawes Fine Arts Building, also known as Tawes Theatre and Tawes Hall, is the home of the University of Maryland's Department of English and is the former home of the Department of Theatre and the School of Music. The Homer Ulrich Recital Hall is located in the building (named in honor of the former chairman of the Department of Music) which was the premier concert hall on campus before the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center opened in 2001. The building underwent a $15 million renovation beginning in 2007 and reopened in 2009; the university's non-commercial, intellectually driven UMTV cable television station is also housed in renovated facilities in Tawes. The building, constructed in 1965, was named after J. Millard Tawes, who was governor of Maryland from 1958 through 1966. The University of Maryland Art Gallery was initially housed in the Tawes Fine Arts Building beginning in 1965 before moving to a newly constructed exhibition facility in the Parren J. Mitchell Art-Sociology Building in 1976.

SECU Stadium is an outdoor athletic stadium on the campus of the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. It is the home of Maryland Terrapins football and men's lacrosse teams, which compete in the Big Ten Conference. The facility was formerly named Byrd Stadium after Harry "Curley" Byrd, a multi-sport athlete, football coach, and university president in the first half of the 20th century, and temporarily Maryland Stadium after objections to Byrd's naming due to his history of supporting segregation.

The Laboratory for Automation Psychology (LAP) (also Laboratory for Automation Psychology and Decision Processes or LAPDP) was founded in 1983 by Kent Norman and Nancy Anderson as an affiliate of the University of Maryland Human–Computer Interaction Lab at the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS). It was housed in the University of Maryland, College Park's Department of Psychology and was devoted to the study of the cognitive side of the human/computer interface with an emphasis on the processes of judgment and decision making. Research has covered a wide range of topics from menu selection to direct manipulation and from user satisfaction to computer rage. Around 2006, research focus changed to psychological aspects of video games including factors of attraction and immersion, violent acts in video games, and skill sets required by different genre of video games. Facilities included usability testing stations with dual monitor computers and video cameras as well as web servers hosting experimental materials and providing data collection. The full range of video game consoles were added including the Sony PlayStation, Nintendo Wii, and Xbox. Research in the LAP has been supported by corporations such as AT&T, Sperry, and IBM and by U.S. federal agencies such as NASA, NSF, NRL, and the U.S. Census Bureau.

The College of Arts and Humanities is one of the 13 schools and colleges at the University of Maryland, College Park. It is a liberal arts program that studies human experience, thought, expression, and creativity. It was one of the seven schools established in 1917 by Albert F. Woods.The College of Arts and Humanities consists of 14 academic departments with 28 academic majors and 33 academic minors. There are 3,549 undergraduate and graduate majors. The College of Arts and Humanities is housed within 12 academic buildings on campus. The college itself is located in Francis Scott Key Hall.

McKeldin Mall is a nine-acre quad in the heart of the campus of the University of Maryland, College Park. Named after Theodore McKeldin, the former Governor of Maryland, McKeldin Mall is the largest academic mall in the United States. It has been named one of the most picturesque college campus quads in the nation.
