The College of Arts and Humanities is one of the 13 schools and colleges at the University of Maryland, College Park. It is a liberal arts program that studies human experience, thought, expression, and creativity. It was one of the seven schools established in 1917 by Albert F. Woods.The College of Arts and Humanities consists of 14 academic departments with 28 academic majors and 33 academic minors. There are 3,549 undergraduate and graduate majors. The College of Arts and Humanities is housed within 12 academic buildings on campus. The college itself is located in Francis Scott Key Hall.

The Maryland Center for Fundamental Physics (MCFP) is a research institute at the University of Maryland, College Park focused on theoretical physics.

McKeldin Mall is a nine-acre quad in the heart of the campus of the University of Maryland, College Park. Named after Theodore McKeldin, the former Governor of Maryland, McKeldin Mall is the largest academic mall in the United States. It has been named one of the most picturesque college campus quads in the nation.

Memorial Chapel is a non-denominational building on the campus of the University of Maryland, College Park, constructed to honor those associated with the university who had lost their lives serving in the United States Armed Forces. The building, designed by Henry Powell Hopkins, actually is made up of three chapels: the Main Chapel, the West Chapel, and the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament. A Vietnam Veterans Memorial was constructed on the Chapel grounds in 1988. The steeple of the chapel is the highest point on campus.

The Maryland School of Public Policy is one of 14 schools at the University of Maryland, College Park. The school is located inside the Capital Beltway and ranks 16th nationally for schools of public policy according to U.S. News & World Report (2012).

Campus Drive–UMD is a light rail station that is currently under construction. It will be part of the Purple Line in Maryland. The station will be located at the intersection of Campus Drive and Library Lane on the campus of the University of Maryland.

The University of Maryland Art Gallery is the flagship art museum on the campus of the University of Maryland, College Park. The Gallery is a member of the American Alliance of Museums, Association of Academic Museums and Galleries, and the National Art Education Association.

The Adele H. Stamp Student Union, commonly referred to as "Stamp", is the student activity center on the campus of the University of Maryland, College Park. First constructed in 1954 (with additions in 1962 and 1971), the building was renamed in 1983 for Adele Hagner Stamp, who served as the university's dean of women from 1920 to 1960. Stamp houses nearly all of the university's student organizations, and is considered the "center of campus life," receiving more than 19,000 visitors daily.

The University of Maryland, College Park (University of Maryland, UMD, or simply Maryland) is a public land-grant research university in College Park, Maryland. Founded in 1856, UMD is the flagship institution of the University System of Maryland. It is also the largest university in both the state and the Washington metropolitan area. UMD is a member of the Association of American Universities and competes in intercollegiate athletics as a member of the Big Ten Conference. It is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity" and has been labeled a "Public Ivy".In 2016, the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Maryland, Baltimore formalized their strategic partnership after their collaboration aimed to create more innovative medical, scientific, and educational programs, as well as greater research grants and joint faculty appointments than either campus has been able to accomplish on its own. According to the National Science Foundation, the university spent a combined $1.14 billion on research and development in 2021, ranking it 17th among American universities. As of 2021, the operating budget of the University of Maryland is approximately $2.2 billion.

The College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences (CMNS) at the University of Maryland, College Park, is home to ten academic departments and a dozen interdisciplinary research centers and institutes. CMNS is one of 13 schools and colleges within the University of Maryland, College Park.In January 2015, CMNS had 339 tenure/tenure-track faculty members, 39,380 alumni, 4,912 undergraduate students and 1,424 graduate students. In October 2010, the University of Maryland's College of Chemical and Life Sciences and College of Computer, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences merged to form the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences.CMNS students receive national awards, including Rhodes, Truman, Goldwater, Fulbright and Hollings Scholarships; National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships; and NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowships. In addition, undergraduate and graduate students conduct research in faculty research laboratories on campus or in the wide range of federal laboratories, research institutes and private companies in the Baltimore-Washington corridor.

The University of Maryland, Baltimore County College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences focuses in the areas of life science, including Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Marine Biology, and Physics.

The Jones-Hill House is an indoor collegiate sports training complex located on 14.5 acres (5.9 ha) of land on the campus of the University of Maryland in College Park, a suburb north of Washington, D.C. Jones-Hill House is situated in the center of the campus, adjacent to Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium, near Stamp Student Union and McKeldin Library. The building was constructed between 1952 and 1955 at a cost of $3.3 million ($36 million in 2024 ) and served for nearly 50 years as the home court of the Maryland Terrapins men's and women's basketball teams. A multi-phase, $196 million renovation commenced in 2015 to transform the capacity 14,956-seat basketball arena into a 356,000-square-foot (33,100 m2) sports and academic complex that includes an indoor practice facility and operations center for the university's football program, a sports science and sports medical research center, and an incubator for entrepreneurs. The facility was formerly named the William P. Cole Jr. Student Activities Building, commonly known as Cole Field House. In April 2021, the facility was renamed in honor of Billy Jones and Darryl Hill, the first Black men to integrate basketball and football at Maryland, respectively.The Jones-Hill House, the indoor practice facility and operations center for the Maryland Terrapins football team (Big Ten Conference), opened in 2017. Though the facility is primarily used for football, it was also used for training by the school's men's and women's lacrosse teams The second phase of renovation, which began in late-2017, includes the construction of a 196,000-square-foot (18,200 m2) addition to the complex. This new structure will also include a space for the school’s Academy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Center for Sports Medicine, Health and Human Performance, a sports medicine education, investigation and clinical care center operated in partnership with the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
