McNair is a census-designated place located in the Oak Hill section of Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It is directly to the east of Washington Dulles International Airport. The population as of the 2010 census was 17,513. Much of the population resides in the McNair Farms planned community. The community has a school called McNair Elementary.McNair is also home to the Dulles Corner Business Park, home to the headquarters of Airbus Group, Inc. and Northrop Grumman Technical Services.

Merrybrook is the only known remaining home of American Civil War Confederate spy Laura Ratcliffe. The house is located south of Herndon, Virginia, in Fairfax County. She lived here from the earliest days of the Civil War until her death in 1923. The interior, out-buildings and grounds still retain the atmosphere of earlier times. In early March 2007, the Virginia Department of Historic Resources approved the current owner's application and placed Merrybrook on the Virginia Landmarks Register. The application to put Merrybrook on the National Historic Register is currently awaiting approval from the National Park Service. However, urban encroachment continues, the recent widening of Centreville Road was a near miss for Merrybrook which still survives behind the trees.

Innovation Center (preliminary names Route 28, Herndon – Dulles East) is a planned Washington Metro station in Fairfax County, Virginia on the Silver Line. It will be located adjacent to the Virginia Center for Innovative Technology at the intersection of the SR 267 and SR 28 in McNair, near the Fairfax / Loudoun county line. Originally planned to begin operation in 2018, the station is now expected to open in July 2022.

The Frying Pan Meetinghouse (also known as Frying Pan Old School Baptist Church (1832) or Frying Pan Spring Meeting House) is a historic church building within Frying Pan Farm Park in Floris, Virginia. It was built in 1791 as a church building. In 1984 the last remaining trustee deeded the building to the Fairfax County Park Authority to preserve and maintain the property. The building and cemetery were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Hutchison is an census designated place in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It is a residential development just north of Virginia State Route 267, located 23 miles west of Washington, D.C. The community is one of the census-designated places newly recognized for the 2020 United States census. As of the 2020 census, the population of Hutchison is 6,231.

Floris Historic District is a historic district that is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). It's located in the vicinity of the town of Herndon, Virginia, and just about one mile east of Dulles International Airport.It includes the last remaining working farm in Fairfax County, Virginia, the Frying Pan Farm, which is now also a park. Within that park contributing resources are the Ellmore Farm, Kidwell Farm, the Floris Vocational Technical High School Shop, the Floris School, Lee Farm Site, Frying Pan Meetinghouse. Contributing resources outside the park, nearby, are: Higgins House, Fox House, Cherok House/Cockerill-McFarland House Site, Floris Methodist Church and Stover House.

Floris is a census-designated place (CDP) located within the Oak Hill area of Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 census was 8,375.

Frying Pan Farm Park is a park located in Fairfax County, Virginia. It has a variety of attractions of both a historic and recreational nature. The park contains the Frying Pan Meetinghouse, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and dating from the 18th century, and the Old Floris Schoolhouse, constructed in 1911. One of the attractions of the park is Kidwell Farm, a working demonstration farm. It recreates a 1930s farm and still has many animals including cows and horses. Frying Pan Farm Park hosts many equestrian events throughout the year at the Activities Center, featuring an indoor riding arena and two outside rings, and has a 4-H club. For many years turkeys pardoned in the National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation were sent to live at Frying Pan Farm Park.According to the park's webpage, the area was known as Frying Pan from 1726 until 1892 when it was renamed to Floris; another source mentions a Frying Pan Springs, along with a story of the origin of both the Frying Pan (related to the nearby Coppermine) and Floris names.

Hattontown is an unincorporated community in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It is on the CDP border of Reston. It was at one time a rural crossroads located at present-day State Routes 665 (Fox Mill Road) and 666 (Monroe Street) and was named for the Hattons, a family that resided in the area. It became overlain by housing subdivisions in more recent years and as of 1979 the name was reported by the United States Geological Survey as having been in little or no usage for decades.

King Abdullah Academy (KAA; Arabic: أكاديمية الملك عبد الله) is a Saudi Arabian international school located in Floris, an unincorporated area in Fairfax County, Virginia in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. In proximity to Herndon and Dulles International Airport, it serves ages 4–18, grades preschool through 12.The academy opened in the fall of 2016. There were no hearings from the Fairfax County government required for the occupation of the campus because land which KAA occupied was already zoned for educational purposes. In 2015 Michael R. Frey, the Fairfax County Supervisor, stated that residents of the area around the school had not expressed opposition to its placement there.Students in pre-school and elementary school (KG-5th Grade) are in co-gender classes while middle and high school students are separated by sex, although some specialized high school classes may be co-gender.

Herndon (preliminary names Herndon–Monroe, Herndon–Reston West) is a planned Washington Metro station in Fairfax County, Virginia on the Silver Line. The station would be in the median strip of VA-267 adjacent to the current Herndon-Monroe Park and Ride parking garage and bus station, which is on the south side of the highway. This location is in Reston, but has a Herndon postal address. In anticipation of a future mass transit route in the Dulles Access Road median, in 1999 Fairfax County constructed a $20 million park and ride facility which includes a Fairfax Connector station that serves most bus lines in the Herndon and Reston areas as well as buses carrying commuters to the West Falls Church or other Metro stations daily. The existing facility is served by direct westbound on-ramps and eastbound off-ramps to SR 267. The existing parking garage has 1,750 spaces. The garage has drawn criticism because of alleged construction flaws. The garage will be expanded to 3,500 spaces for the Metro station. Originally planned for revenue operations in 2018, the station is now expected to open in July 2022. In the meantime, the Town of Herndon has initiated transportation oriented development of the land on the north side of the station. In turn, the Town of Herndon, on November 10, 2009, designated commercial, industrial and multi-unit rental residential properties within the town boundaries for inclusion in a special tax district to fund construction of Phase II of the Silver Line.
