Hutchison is an census designated place in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It is a residential development just north of Virginia State Route 267, located 23 miles west of Washington, D.C. The community is one of the census-designated places newly recognized for the 2020 United States census. As of the 2020 census, the population of Hutchison is 6,231.

Cortona Academy, founded in 1992, is a private, co-educational, college preparatory academy in Herndon, Virginia, serving grades 7–12. It serves students from the greater Washington area. The campus is situated in Herndon and 100% of Cortona seniors are accepted to college.

Merrybrook is the only known remaining home of American Civil War Confederate spy Laura Ratcliffe. The house is located south of Herndon, Virginia, in Fairfax County. She lived here from the earliest days of the Civil War until her death in 1923. The interior, out-buildings and grounds still retain the atmosphere of earlier times. In early March 2007, the Virginia Department of Historic Resources approved the current owner's application and placed Merrybrook on the Virginia Landmarks Register. The application to put Merrybrook on the National Historic Register is currently awaiting approval from the National Park Service. However, urban encroachment continues, the recent widening of Centreville Road was a near miss for Merrybrook which still survives behind the trees.

McNair is a census-designated place located in the Oak Hill section of Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It is directly to the east of Washington Dulles International Airport. The population as of the 2010 census was 17,513. Much of the population resides in the McNair Farms planned community. The community has a school called McNair Elementary.McNair is also home to the Dulles Corner Business Park, home to the headquarters of Airbus Group, Inc. and Northrop Grumman Technical Services.

The Frying Pan Meetinghouse (also known as Frying Pan Old School Baptist Church (1832) or Frying Pan Spring Meeting House) is a historic church building within Frying Pan Farm Park in Floris, Virginia. It was built in 1791 as a church building. In 1984 the last remaining trustee deeded the building to the Fairfax County Park Authority to preserve and maintain the property. The building and cemetery were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Floris is a census-designated place (CDP) located within the Oak Hill area of Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 census was 8,375.

Oak Grove is a census-designated place in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 United States Census was 1,777.Oak Grove is located in eastern Loudoun County, on the Fairfax County border, between the communities of Sterling Park and Herndon. The Washington and Old Dominion Railroad once travelled through the community, now replaced by the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Trail.

Floris Historic District is a historic district that is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). It's located in the vicinity of the town of Herndon, Virginia, and just about one mile east of Dulles International Airport.It includes the last remaining working farm in Fairfax County, Virginia, the Frying Pan Farm, which is now also a park. Within that park contributing resources are the Ellmore Farm, Kidwell Farm, the Floris Vocational Technical High School Shop, the Floris School, Lee Farm Site, Frying Pan Meetinghouse. Contributing resources outside the park, nearby, are: Higgins House, Fox House, Cherok House/Cockerill-McFarland House Site, Floris Methodist Church and Stover House.

Frying Pan Farm Park is a park located in Fairfax County, Virginia. It has a variety of attractions of both a historic and recreational nature. The park contains the Frying Pan Meetinghouse, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and dating from the 18th century, and the Old Floris Schoolhouse, constructed in 1911. One of the attractions of the park is Kidwell Farm, a working demonstration farm. It recreates a 1930s farm and still has many animals including cows and horses. Frying Pan Farm Park hosts many equestrian events throughout the year at the Activities Center, featuring an indoor riding arena and two outside rings, and has a 4-H club. For many years turkeys pardoned in the National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation were sent to live at Frying Pan Farm Park.According to the park's webpage, the area was known as Frying Pan from 1726 until 1892 when it was renamed to Floris; another source mentions a Frying Pan Springs, along with a story of the origin of both the Frying Pan (related to the nearby Coppermine) and Floris names.

Hattontown is an unincorporated community in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It is on the CDP border of Reston. It was at one time a rural crossroads located at present-day State Routes 665 (Fox Mill Road) and 666 (Monroe Street) and was named for the Hattons, a family that resided in the area. It became overlain by housing subdivisions in more recent years and as of 1979 the name was reported by the United States Geological Survey as having been in little or no usage for decades.

Herndon is a town in Fairfax County, Virginia, in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area of the United States. The population was 23,292 at the 2010 census. In 2020, the population was estimated to be 24,532, which makes it the largest of three incorporated towns in the county.The actual dimensions of the town of Herndon are fairly small. Herndon ArtSpace is a local art gallery, arts lab and performance space located in downtown Herndon, Virginia. Devoted to the development of visual arts and media, as well as small-scale musical, dramatic and film arts, Artspace has been supporting the developments of arts and artists within the Herndon community and Fairfax County, Virginia. ArtSpace is a place to celebrate the arts, showcasing artwork and events by local, regionally, and nationally known artists and performers. ArtSpace was first established in 2008 as a project of the Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts. The Foundation's mission is to promote and support the creation of a full-scale arts center in downtown Herndon. Each year, the Artspace presents between 10 and 11 exhibits. ArtSpace and the HFCA have recently merged with the Council for the Arts of Herndon under the new name "Arts Herndon". ArtSpace is continues to be used as a community gathering space for events. The gallery also includes space for classes and workshops. Entrance is free, and there is plentiful free parking. Works of art are for sale, as are small gifts. Ticketed events include music, film and drama. ArtSpace Herndon is primarily staffed with volunteers and supported by grants and donations. As a community art center, ArtSpace Herndon relies on the generous support of citizens, businesses and organizations.
