UTC Sheffield City Centre (known as UTC Sheffield from 2013 to 2016) is a University Technical College (UTC) that opened in Sheffield City Centre, South Yorkshire, England in September 2013. The site for the UTC was purchased by Sheffield City Council, with capital funding of £9.9 million awarded by the Department for Education for new buildings. The sponsors of the UTC include Sheffield Hallam University and The Sheffield College in Sheffield.

Access Space is an open digital arts lab in Sheffield in the United Kingdom. It is the longest running free media lab in the UK, practising and promoting sustainability through re-use of technology. The lab has been funded by the Arts Council of England, the European Social Fund of the European Union, and the National Lottery of the UK.

Site Gallery is an art gallery in Sheffield, England. It specialises in moving image, new media and performance based art. Site Gallery is based at Brown Street in Sheffield's Cultural Industries Quarter. It is an international centre for contemporary art, and has extensive programme of exhibitions, conferences, artists talks and festivals. The gallery's exhibitions often coincide with a public programme including artist talks, symposia, screenings, workshops and reading groups. It was originally called Untitled Gallery.Sharna Jackson has been in post as Artistic Director since July 2018, co-directing alongside Judith Harry.

Sydney Works or Sidney Works is a building on Matilda Street in Sheffield, England. It has seen a variety of uses, and occupies a prominent site beside the Porter Brook, surrounded by car parks. The site was originally occupied by the City Saw Mills. It was occupied by four back-to-back buildings used until the 1970s by various small industrial businesses, most prominently Deakins Silversmiths, later renamed Sydney Silversmiths. The rear wing of the building was constructed in 1902. In the 1970s, the building was used by a printing co-operative. From 1982 it was home to Yorkshire ArtSpace, which converted much of the space into studios, becoming the first cultural organisation in what later became the Cultural Industries Quarter. In 2001, Yorkshire Artspace moved to purpose-built premises at Persistence Works, and the building stood largely empty, other than a small part used by a recording studio. In 2005, the Works were used as a convergence centre for opposition to the G8 Finance Ministers' meeting in Sheffield. Renamed the "Matilda", it was then developed as a squatted social centre, including gig spaces, artists' studios, exhibition space, IT facilities, a cafe and several meeting spaces. In June 2006, Yorkshire Forward, who had acquired the building, secured a court order demanding the eviction of the occupants.In Autumn 2012 work has begun for a "New build and refurbishment of existing Sidney Works buildings to form a new university technical college, with associated external works including flood lit rooftop multi-use games area"

The Matilda Centre was a self-managed, grassroots social and community centre based at 111 Matilda Street in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The centre took the name of the street on which the building can still be found. It was housed in the derelict Sydney Works building and collectives ran a variety of projects, including a café, free shop and concert venue. It was evicted in June 2006.

Yorkshire ArtSpace is a project established to provide studio space for artists which opened in October 2001 at the Persistence Works building in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. It occupies a key site at the termination of Furnival Street, forming a main elevation to Brown Street, the main street of the city's Cultural Industries Quarter. The Yorkshire ArtSpace Society, originally established in Sheffield in 1977 by a group of artists, aimed to provide accessible studio space. At that time, the Society was based at Washington Works, but only on a short term lease. Subsequently, in 1982 a 10-year lease was obtained on Sydney Works, on Matilda Street, a four storey building which had formerly been a cutlery factory. After eight years of development the premises had been modified to include 30 studios with office and gallery space. It was the first arts organisation to move into this part of the City centre, later to become the Cultural Industries Quarter. The Society became the largest "artspace" in the country outside London. Persistence Works was designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios. It is the UK’s first purpose built studio complex for artists and craftspeople. The project has created studio space for sixty eight practising artists and craftspeople in addition to exhibition, project, education and office spaces, The building won an RIBA Yorkshire White Rose award and a Civic Trust Award Commendation. It was also a finalist in the Prime Ministers’ Better Public Building Awards in 2002.

The National Centre for Popular Music was a museum in Sheffield, England, for pop and rock music and contemporary culture generally, a £15 million project largely funded with contributions from the National Lottery, which opened on 1 March 1999, and closed in June 2000. However, the plan for the centre was devised in the mid-1980s and Sheffield City Council were aiming to raise the money for it in April 1993 so the concept long predated the Tony Blair / Cool Britannia era of which it was seen as a notable failure.

The Leadmill is the longest running live music venue and nightclub in Sheffield, England, based on Leadmill Road, lying on the southeast edge of the city centre. It opened in 1980 in a former flour mill, originally a Community Centre.The venue has hosted live music, comedians, theatre productions, record fairs, cabaret, drag, and talks.

192 Shoreham Street in Sheffield, England, is a building with striking architectural design. It has been identified by The Atlantic as one of 2012's most interesting buildings and received an RIBA award in 2013. The £1 million renovation designed by Project Orange features an angular postmodern addition on top of a brick warehouse on the lower floor. The original part of the building was converted to be used as a bar/restaurant and had a steel structure added to support the weight of the rooftop offices.

Sheffield Institute of Arts Gallery is a university art gallery in Sheffield, England. Part of Sheffield Hallam University the gallery is based in the Furnival Building in Sheffield's Cultural Industries Quarter. It is open to the public. The gallery aims to bring nationally and internationally recognised works of art, design and media arts to Sheffield as well as showing some of the work of academics and students in the Sheffield Institute of Arts. The gallery is managed by a gallery committee representing the main subject groups of the Sheffield Institute of Arts, individual exhibitions are curated by academic specialists in the University.

The Cultural Industries Quarter is a district in the city centre of Sheffield, England, and one of the eleven Quarters designated in the 1994 City Centre Strategy. It is roughly triangular in shape, and is bound by Howard Street, Sheaf Square and Suffolk Road to the north-east, St Mary's Road to the south and Eyre Street and Arundel Gate to the north-west, with Granville Square in the south-east. The Showroom Cinema is an independent cinema, café bar and creative workspace contributing to the culture in Sheffield, England.In 2002, the cinema was voted the favourite independent cinema of Guardian readers. In November 2007, Showroom was awarded the title Best Cultural Venue in Sheffield's Exposed Magazine Awards.
